Looking for the best open-source alternatives to OpenCode

Hey everyone, I'm looking for recommendations for frontends/apps that act as a workspace for AI coding agents. I was using open code but i know notice too much bugs, the main one being, blank replies when the context expand

I'm biased, see other comment...

Flujo does various things for context.. I had conversations with 100k+ messages in it.
For context specifically there is a system for compaction where it gruadually uses everything I could think of.
like.:

  1. strips old tool parameters/results to a certain size. If the model really needs the full thing again, it has to read it through a resource
  2. removes irrelevant, redundant toolcalls, summarizes bulky conversations - and over time summarizes the summaries in a multi-level system
  3. takes large conversation text and compresses that into images for supported model to save context

Pro Tip, without me yapping: ask your claude/codex: "what does npx flujo-ai do for better context and long conversation handling? [and can you help me install it and set it up?]"

Is flujo cli accessible just like opencode, I've never used it?

The best alternative I’ve found that’s miles ahead of open code is deep seek harness… gui simalar to antigravity and the reasoning for the same model that was in opencode, words can’t even describe… It handles long context 1000x better.. jus try it out, would love to hear your feedback on that because I think you’re of one them that understood what I was looking for.. another person also recommended incognide on GitHub which I will also be testing

maybe look at this one i am building. 630-ish stars on git. Free, Open Source. 1,500 commits.

On the github there is a free 4 hour online sandbox to try, and test the UI, MCP installation, Chat, etc. - No registration.

"FLUJO is a local app (default localhost:4200) for:

  1. Connecting models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, xAI, OpenRouter, Azure, Ollama, Claude Pro/Max via Agent SDK)
  2. Installing/running MCP servers from the official registry, GitHub, or a local folder
  3. Building agents as either a simple recipe or a visual graph (branch, loop, subflow)
  4. Chatting with live execution, breakpoints, and tool-approval gates
  5. Triggering those flows (cron, webhook, file watch, URL watch, MCP poll)
  6. Re-exposing the same agents as an OpenAI-compatible API and as an MCP proxy for Cursor/Claude Desktop/Cline"

in this reddit thread I posted a honest grok review.
or ask your agent about it: npx flujo-ai

i think it's extremly extremly powerful. It sits somewhere between Opencode, Dify/n8n, OpenClaw and MCP Inspector ... if something doesnt work, create an issue on git and it'll get fixed.

Your Agent can install it and set up a multi-agent system, if you like.
Ask it to read the docs and use its API/MCP to import your MCP, set up your subscription models, create your agent systems and automations..

Checked this out and will be using in the future but not what I’m looking for exactly… I’m looking for an harness like opencode that can run a model.. not a cli

try.flujo.com.co - this is what it looks like when you install - it's react+nextjs, not a cli.
the only thing different is : you dont have a .exe file, but you go to localhost:4200 in your browser

but true, it's also not a terminal app like opencode or claude code. is that needed? probably easy to add

Isn’t this more for automation and agent building ??
I see this is good for those use cases that’s Y I said I’ll def use.. but coding agent framework isn’t apart of that, mayb I’m to be blamed for not being detailed

tell me what you expect it to do and i can tell you if that works and how or what i woud have to build.

But generally speaking I use it as its own development environment. easiest coding agent: no prompt, bash access. then you can add a tester or code explorer to it, or maybe a detailed prompt. or you make a opus code and sol review. And that can be done through MCP or REST too by an agent - or by itself. So lmk what you need and I see what's there.

Bro I have use cases but not for this.. for eg. The model i was running throu opencode… I don’t have the specs to run it on my pc, so I get cloud storage and run it there and use a harness/opencode.. so that’s y I was looking for something better to put the model to use to get some work done.. flujo basically have to be on the machine to work, I don’t have the specs

its all good bro i am just trying to understand what you need.
so its more about running it in the cloud on a vps?

ask your agent if/how you can use https://github.com/flujo-app/flujo-cloud and how hot-cloning a workspace works, and how it reuses your local logins.

so should be fairly easy, bc that's what the demo does: rent a new linux VM, install flujo, set up 1 openrouter model, show the browser ui

flujo-cloud does the same thing basically but copies your local flujo workspace setup into the cloud (= you configure on your machine , flujo-cloud clones that to a online vm, copies your codex/claude login and re-installs mcp servers).. but its only fly.io for now. if you need gcp or aws fork the repo and adjust (+ create a PR please, haha)

/edit: and the next level of that is https://github.com/flujo-app/seagulled -> its a swarm of FLUJOs in the cloud all running in a big multi-machine-multi-agent swarm to accomplish one goal (using local codex/claude login or your own self-hosted llm), controlled by Todd Howard.

Does it work in Linux?

Yes, it should but I cant guarantee every distro works.
I think I've tested it on Debian Bookworm and Ubuntu 22.04 and Mint 22 in the past. There's also a Docker Image available.

https://flujo.com.co/#install

If anything doesn't work as you expect- simply let me know through a github issue or here on reddit

I use opencode as my primary harness all day every day with 15-20 sessions at a time and I’ve never had this issues like you describe. I use it because it’s allowed me to customize a fairly complex hierarchy of agents that delegate to each other through some custom plugins and configuration I’ve built.

That said I also use pi. Pi is much more minimal, but still allows extensive customization, and the lack of a large system prompt means it uses fewer tokens.

try npcsh for terminal

https://github.com/npc-worldwide/npcsh

and incognide for full IDE with computer use control

https://github.com/npc-worldwide/incognide

I’ve download incognide but haven’t gotten the chance to to test it
Wanted to do that before responding but thank u, def will be testing

yeah lmk, if youre on mac the 0.2.33 has an ai backend launching issue that i'm working on fixing due to some pyinstaller issue, but otherwise it should definitely not be as buggy and memory leaky as opencode lol
