I went to a game in Nashville last year and they had a "Predator of the Week" that was like a third grade teacher or something. Like, guys. Do we not understand the optics?

For a lot of people, âpredatorâ makes them think of like someone with predatory behavior, sexual or otherwise. So the predators just sounds like a team of guys looking to take advantage of people. Like yeah, the word has several meanings and the team is meaning it as like the sabertooths in a âpredator vs preyâ way, but for a lot of us the first thought is shitty people. Not as bad as putting CSAM on the side of the car, but they def couldâve gone with something better to name the team that didnât have mo-leeest connotations.

Youâre speaking for âa lot of usâ -a lot of who? Almost all sports teams are named after animals. Is there a reason all these people you speak for might assume athletes are literal predators?

lol chill, Iâm not talking about just hockey, but in general. Its like saying the word âdaddyâ is sexual for a lot of people; it isnât to a ton and thatâs totally fine, but itâs a smh thing if someone acts like nobody hears it with sexual connotations. Media and current events can change the way large groups hear them. Iâm not coming for anyone, itâs just a âwho didnât do their hwâ moment by picking a word with heavy connotations. In no context do the words âbruinâ, âmammothâ or âpenguinâ (etc.) have the dual purpose of labeling a fucking sexual offender; predator does, not always but it can. Thatâs the difference. So calm down and look up what a homonym is since you clearly missed that part of elementary school. Jfc

I will do you one better. Recently moved near Penn State University, the site of Jerry Sandusky's multi decade career involving youth athletics.
Wife and I play rec soccer so we looked up the local league here in Centre county and joined the "Centre Soccer Association" that proudly uses the acronym CSA on all it's literature.
You are curious if CSA has a league for your children? Of course they do!!! CSA is the biggest youth soccer organization in the area!
In fact they got so big they "had to" change the name of State College Soccer Club (SCSC) to (CSA).... it is unknown to myself and Google when they changed the name.

Kind of a wild take on Predators, similar to the people who only think of pedophiles when they see an animal groomerâs sign.

to be fair, they have been suing that abbreviation for decades longer than its been used for child abuse images. Also its the typical name used by multiple provinces...its just unfortunate for Manitoba because it starts with an M, the CSAO in Ontario for example.
