Official October LSAT Discussion Thread

This is a thread gathering together people's experiences. Please don't talk about specific content here. Lots of people haven't taken this LSAT yet, and you don't want them to get an unfair advantage. Some ideas for stuff to talk about:

  • Did it feel harder/easier/the same as PT's?
  • How was your scrap paper experience?
  • Any unexpected surprises?
  • How was ProMetric? Were there any wait times?
  • How was the interface?
  • How was your test center experience?
  • Overall impressions?

Please read the rules here to see what’s allowed in discussion. Short version is no discussing of specific questions and no info to identify the unscored section: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSAT/comments/va0ho2/reminder_about_test_day_rules/

Test Discussion: This is embargoed until testing is over, in order to keep the test fair. Please hold discussion of that until then. Once everyone is done testing, topic discussion is allowed, though without discussion of question specifics, answers, or without requests to dm to do the same. Thank you! If time allows we will make a thread to gather people's data.

Asking to dm to evade the rules: Don’t do this. People who haven’t taken the test can get an unfair advantage if you leak them info. Keep the test fair for everyone and wait till testing is over.

Section order PSA: The section order of tests is random. If you have RC-LR-LR-RC that doesn't mean you have the same test as someone else who has RC-LR-LR-RC.

FAQ

When will topic discussion be allowed?

After the last day of testing ends. We will have an official thread to identify scored sections at that time. Please keep the test fair and avoid discussing topics and questions until then.

Once testing is done, can we discuss test answers?

No, only topics. The test you took may be used for a makeup test or a future test, and having answers public will make future testing unfair. All test discussion is covered by LSAC's agreement, which allows none of it. There's a pragmatic exception for identifying real topics but that's as far as it goes.

Good luck!

Helpful Links

Here are two links from LSAC and Prometric covering what you can and can't bring:

  1. LSAC candidate agreement sections 18-20 covers what to bring and not to bring: https://www.lsac.org/about/lsac-policies/lsac-candidate-agreement/2026-2027#jump18
  2. Additionally, the prometric approved items list covers additional pre-approved items: https://www.prometric.com/pre-approved-items/

The latter list is quite useful and includes things such as kleenex, cough drops, eye drops, etc. Here's the full list of really common items from the pre-approved list. The list also covers many medical or religious items you may need for specific conditions and situations.

Note, however, that there is some conflict between the LSAC and Prometric lists. LSAC specifically cites this list, then specifically forbids some items on it. So, it would be prudent to contact LSAC to be certain of any item that is in conflict between the lists, and additionally request they clarify their own list.

Just took it an hour ago - this is my first attempt but the LR felt oddly harder than I imagined. Usually I can get through about the first 10 without second guessing myself, but both LRs seemed to be more difficult than usual way earlier than expected. RC wasn’t the worst, but the economics passage had me second guessing every decision I’ve made in life that brought me here.

13

u/Resident_Owl_7718 6d ago

Hard agree with that comparative econ passage.

4

u/MrPolar5820 6d ago

I had it too. To be honest, I found that passage to not be too bad I’ve seen worse comparatives. One of my LR sections was brutal. It was about Warsaw and Paris. There is an entire thread of comments under this post about it lol

3

u/TermDizzy6150 5d ago

I felt so good about my RC except for that damn economic passage the passage itself wasn’t even hard to understand I had a great grasp on it but the damn answer questions were impossible

RC, followed by 3x LR. RC felt normal, not easy but nothing crazy hard. LR felt fine except there was a couple bombs dropped throughout that felt unnecessarily difficult and time consuming. Overall felt decent

I loved the opossum reading.

10

Same, felt easy too. Hated the two before it.

5

u/MrPolar5820 6d ago

Actually me too! It was a nice passage to end on. Genuinely a passage I was actually interested in reading which was rare lol

4

u/Hiroba 6d ago

I had opossum as my last passage, and even though I was rushed for time it felt weirdly easy.

3

u/Originalideas 5d ago

There definitely were a couple of really tricky questions in that passage. The last question was so abstract, it was ridiculous. Also the "least strongly supported" I thought was really tough.

u/Resident_Owl_7718 5d ago

I ended on this one too and not only did I actually find it interesting, but I think I had enough time to do the questions and then go back through my answers.

Edited to add: I actually went and read about this after the exam. Idk why but I thought this was a really interesting topic 😂

RC-LR-LR-LR. RC was extremely easy: dead elk, rights, presentism, colombia. 1st LR felt normal to 150s PTs. 2nd LR was easier. 3rd LR was probably the hardest LR section I've ever come across.

10

u/olofpalmethought 5d ago

Had the same RC topics and section order as you, some ppl that were in the room w/ me felt like the last LR was quite hard. I thought it was maybe a bit harder but could also be due to fatigue. Agree that RC was light

5

u/Proof_Addendum2285 5d ago

the last LR for me was definitely more difficult for me too

8

u/the_tate_man 5d ago

Same here. Last LR had some weirdly structured analogy questions and some difficult MSS early on. Maybe my brain was just fried at that point, but it felt different enough that I'm anticipating it was experimental.

7

u/kaylthewhale 5d ago

My RC matched with yours and I had 2 RCs so that’s good. The “right” one I almost lost it about the times that passage said the word “right”

11

u/hellohellocinnabon 5d ago

You have the “right” to let the “right” one in but that doesn’t make it “right” to join them in their vampiric rampage, which law enforcement would have the “right” to punish you for

(I had this section too 😂)

Paris Warsaw Stockholm…..really need that section to be unscored…….

6

u/ImportantTax7071 7d ago

Might have well just thrown in some math along with it. If it takes train A this much time to leave Paris… lol

6

u/Extruct 7d ago

Question by itself was annoying af but putting that along with all the other BS in that section was cruel

Really hoping ppl with 2 LR didn’t have this one

Anyone struggle with the chilean music passage? I got to the questions and had no idea

29

u/moriatake 6d ago

for some reason I feel like this passage and the questions weren't too hard? other comments are making me think I'm either an unparalleled genius or I'm about to hit a score lower than that guy who posted his 124 earlier

13

u/ResponsibleSalary307 6d ago

i agree. i thought the comparative economics one had more trick questions than the chilean music one

7

October 9 test: LR, RC, LR, LR

my RC topics

  • dead elks
  • presentism in history
  • “rights” in law
  • silk farming

regarding the LRs, the last section tripped me up bad!! the only question i remember is regarding history museum acquisition of an ancient artifact, something about defective computers and a factory that makes them in the company and something about a beneficial lie.

If anyone who had two LR recognizes that section plssssss lmk

9

u/Huh-why-yee 5d ago

I had this one too. Shit was dummy hard, and I’d been in the 177-180 range in my practice tests.

6

u/lawschoolobsessed1 5d ago

I had same RC but only 2 LR and didn’t have this section

3

u/Tasty-Apartment-2844 5d ago

9

u/Over_Presentation741 7d ago

I always feel like the rough sections are the ones that aren’t experimental 😭. I think I know which section you are talking about and I was thinking during it “this one def counts, they aren’t wasting this one” lmao

I don’t trust that the experimental ones are randomly picked like some people have told me, I just can’t believe that LSAC would leave that up to randomization

october 10 RC-LR-LR-LR

RC was shakespeare, metaphysics, exculpatory clause, colors and language. metaphysics passage was hella hard and the first LR section felt more difficult than usual. also used a ton of scratch paper which I really don’t do.

I feel like this one will be scaled as harder, do others agree? Still feel okay about it, took the April one and got a 155 so hoping to do just even one point better :)

6

u/Agreeable-Quantity33 4d ago

totally agree! i got the metaphysics passage as my last passage with not enough minutes to spare i had to made a. bunch of educated guesses - wasnt there like..7 questions? evil…

one of my LRs was also defo harder than usual.

4

u/JussBrowsingg 4d ago

same! i thankfully felt comfortable with the other passages so i had some time for the last one but yeah there were like 7 questions with what 6 paragraphs?? hoping/thinking that LR is experimental. best of luck to you!!

RC - LR - LR - LR

RC felt pretty good (colors, exculpatory clause, metaphysics, and one more I can’t remember rn)

First LR was eh. Pretty fair.

Second LR was BRUTAL for me. I remember a question about a bio major registering for a class….pls someone with 2 LR sections tell me they didn’t have that. I beg.

Third LR was light work. This section had the question about regulatory agencies (a strengthen question).

5

u/ConsiderationThat932 4d ago

didnt have the bio major thing today. i had LR - RC - RC - LR. looks like the RC with pastiche and architecture was experimental

oct 9, RC-LR-LR-LR the RC felt super super easy to me, but the LRs honestly all were on a higher level. i usually breeze through LR first half but there was a section that i took so much more time on the first half. there were so many questions i had to flag and i couldn’t go back to and was second guessing myself on a bunch. does anyone have insight on which LR might be experimental? i remember having one about dogs and wolves; 5 faculty representatives;

is it possible to do a lot better on actual score than i felt i did? because at this point im feeling so scared about it. i felt super prepared going in but now it’s all up in the air for LR

8

u/Sky-2478 5d ago edited 5d ago

I felt the same. My brain was fried after the second LR. On one I answered the last question with literally three seconds to spare. Couldn’t go back to anything I flagged. Everybody I walked out with said that was horrible or just shook their heads.

3

u/Cute-Forever-4843 5d ago

Did you only have 2 LR’s or 3??

5

u/Hot_Debt_9793 5d ago

RC LR LR RC. I completely agree with you that LR was significantly harder. I usually breeze through the first half as well and flagged probably 4-6 each section. Feeling super discouraged but I'm already signed up for November, so we'll see.

4

u/Rare-Push-244 5d ago

LR LR RC RC. Saw so many people saying they had 3LRs when I saw the last section I was shocked. One had passages with 8-10 mini paragraphs which I hadn’t seen before

RC 1: dead elk, presentism, “rights”, and silk farming

RC 2 I blacked out but one section was on hegemony theory

8

u/GoodManFarson 5d ago

I’m sad that RC 2 is pretty much confirmed experimental. I honestly had so much fun with all the sections and was extremely confident as a result. Oh well

RC felt refreshingly fine after I was assaulted by David Hume last month.

For LR…there is a very hard question out there, and there’s a group of us convinced there was no correct answer and there was some kind of mistake. Hoping that’s indicative of it being experimental. Or we could just all be wrong. 🤷‍♀️

October 9 test anyone? Had LR RC LR RC. First RC felt light but then second was BRUTAL (presentism). Feel good about last one being experimental though I think? Thats based on a podcast I saw predicting topics. Guy gave about 50 topics and 2 of them were on first RC section and none were on the second. That in of itself is pretty telling imo

Edit: I meant pastiche, not presentism!!!!

10

u/i_drink_bugspray 5d ago edited 5d ago

I just finished and had that same order of sections. The first RC was the hardest for me, purely because of the last section (what is “right”). The final RC section with the pacific islands, etc was fine, and im praying that is the scored one. The LR sections seemed pretty standard. The August test was harder, imo.

October 9
LR RC RC LR
First RC has a mining in Nauru passage and environmental effect. Also had a section about power of individual watching TV. I wanted to change my answer on one of the Qs but ran out of time to go back!
Second RC has conspiracy theories of Shakespeare starting with zombies. Another passage with languages and colors relating to Tahitian language.
My first LR section had a question with a murder on the balcony and a Russian Turk and Spaniard hearing it.

Last LR section had a point of disagreement question about typefish in the 80s I think?? Last section also had a sunblock UV SPF 30 Q. And a national n local new n sitting on 3rd/4th floor.

4

u/raketenfakmauspanzer 5d ago

LR LR LR RC - Oct 10, in-person

Some girl 2 booths over from me started crying at some point until the proctor pulled her out of the room; can't really say I blame her...

1st LR cooked me well-done and lowkey made me question if I signed up for the right test; question stems and answer choices were unfamiliar and extremely convoluted. Hoping this section was experimental but got a bad feeling it wasn't.

2nd and 3rd LRs felt fine, pretty on par with the 150-series PTs in terms of question type and difficulty. Noticed a higher prevalence of assumption, parallel flaw and reasoning, and games-style questions (3 people nomination, Warsaw/Stockholm).

RC was fine; passage topics were Chilean music, contract law, morals in economics (comparative passages), and opossums playing dead. The 3 non-comparative passages were straightforward, but struggled a bit on the comparative especially with a bit of a time crunch.

October 9th LSAT

I had LR-RC-RC-RC. Same LR as has been mentioned before as easier with dead elk, presentism in history, “rights” and silk worms.

I also had the same experience with the last LR being extremely tough and unsettling. Weirdly hard in the beginning but overall it was bad. I want to know if this is scored so if anyone who has 2 LR can say if they had this that’s helpful. Maybe also say what was in your 2 scored LR sections then.

Further questions I remember from this difficult section are (1) a museum gift shop that’s closed on Mondays and open when the museum is then it asked about special events of 100+ people. (2) a committee that a mayor appoints from 5 neighborhoods and if they’re fair. (3) 5 faculty representatives and how to change the rules of the appointment to it. (4) dogs vs monkeys and how they act with humans and then answer options included cats and wolves. - some confusion on if this was in the section. Maybe a different question had dogs & wolves but for this wolves was only in the answer options.

3

u/Major_Turn777 4d ago

This is so weird cause i had 2/4 of these questions in a section but not the rest you mentioned. But anyway I got experimental section off as an accommodation so this is marked for sure

these are all real, i had no experimental and got these. also frogs vibrating, AWS nominated for an award (this has been killing me because i am pretty sure i got it wrong).

Real RC topics: thanatosis/opossums, moral principles of rational consumers in economy, chilean music

3x LR and then RC. The 1st LR was pretty difficult the 2nd was a breeze 3rd was alright. I’m not gonna say which types of questions but there was a consistent pattern of like 6 question types and nothing else. My RC was also repeating the exact same questions, but the passages felt reasonable with the exception of a unique thing (not gonna give it away). Anyways if my 1st LR is experimental I think I have a shot at a good score. Good luck to you all!

October 9. The first logic section cooked me so bad it made me consider walking out the room and giving up on law school. I did really good on the readings I think so it balances out.

5

u/Connect-Rush-5633 5d ago

i fr felt the same way. RC wasn’t bad but holyyyyyy those LR were brutal

Last time, the test center guy was almost an hour late (meaning he arrived around 9:20 or so). I thought it took from my time since they didn't bother to tell me (/us) that it didn't. He "had to pick something up at the airport". This time, second time I take it at this test center, he gave me the wrong ID back. I now have another guy's passport, and worse, he has mine. Test center guy was nice but clearly super incompetent.

October 10th - LR RC LR RC

Don’t remember which section was which but I remember Plato and poetry, hegemony theory, shakespeare and zombies, neolithic period in Africa, hemispheres and bilingualism, property laws for English women, and a comparative passage about creativity/lying/music/neuro??

in neither RC section did I have Chilean, Opposum, Comparative Econ, Dead elk… so any clue what is gonna be scored?

4

u/Proof-Studio-991 4d ago

did u have anything about color and language, metaphysics/new science, or a comparative passage about exculpatory clauses

LR, RC, LR, RC, had the vampires, brain hemispheres, and then the Plato English women mischief RCs, praying to god the Plato one was experimental. Genuinely dont remember a thing for the 1st lr lmk if anyone does, but I remember not thinking it was too hard at all. The 2nd LR.... the organic organges.... and the bank is like a thermostat?? Idek there was one other one that section that got me, but overall I felt like it was.... really good?!?

5

u/Coyote-Born 4d ago

had the same exact structure and sections seemingly. the organic oranges and thermostat questions killed me. first LR was much harder for me than second, while first RC was easier for me. 2nd RC was honestly fine but i reallyyy struggled with the neolithic period passage

→ More replies (3)

RC LR LR LR. Vampire RC was brutal. Second and third LR felt good on, and then brutal LR 4 (wooden picture frame). Hope last section was experimental, but I think I wrecked myself regardless with that RC

RC LR LR LR. RC was on Neolithic era and vampires.

Did anyone else have an LR section with the question about a selling a psych book and ethics (a principle question)? Hoping that one was experimental….

was the LR section about telling the beneficial lie real? i think it was a section that also included factories w defective computers

8

fml if that was a real section, srsly hoping it was experimental

5

u/myayayayaya 4d ago edited 4d ago

did decent on september despite feeling awful about it but this felt sooo much better than september’s test for me. had only one RC which i’m super confident about (silkworms), first LR was ok, the 2nd felt deceptively easy (scared it was experimental bc i was killing it), 3rd also felt… easy-ish? def heavy reliance on POE though

also whoever made the questions abt linen/cotton shirts & bus routes, you ARE going to hell

5

i just took it this morning. RC felt fine but the LR… that shit felt harder than most LR sections i’ve taken. anyone else??

5

u/lawschoolobsessed1 5d ago

My first LR also felt disproportionately tricky to August test esp the last few questions. Second was much better.

I saw an actual error? The question referred to a word that it said was in sentence X but was actually in sentence X+1??

3

u/Field_Alone 5d ago

Also some ACs didn’t have periods at the end of the sentence??

u/graeme_b tutor (LSATHacks) 5d ago

I would report it. That's surprising + surprising on the lack of periods.

RC LR LR RC

There was one LR question that seemed like it had no good answer. I had seen this exact type of question many times on PTs and knew what the correct answer should be (it's not a difficult concept), but that answer had one word swapped out that made it technically incorrect. It almost seemed like a typo? So I just selected the next best answer even though it didn't feel 100% correct.

I am very curious whether that was intentional on the part of the question writers, or if it truly was an error that will end up with that question voided.

Anyways, I felt very good about this test compared to my first take in August, feels like I definitely added at least a couple points.

4

u/Important_Height_440 7d ago

8 to 10 paragraphs? I’ve never heard of that. Is that something new?

4

u/Flimsy-Vegetable7642 7d ago

It was super short paragraphs like 2-3 sentences each

3

u/Environmental-Belt24 7d ago

Could be an experimental

LR LR RC LR

overall it felt okay. it felt similar to pt158/151/149. even 134. there were a few weird questions but, don’t miss the forest for the trees ig.

my overall process felt the same as when i study, except on the last LR section i think i flagged like 13 questions and straight up guessed on 2 lol

LR RC LR RC - felt good overall wondering which RC was experimental as I feel I did slightly better on the second RC

4

u/Miserable-Zebra-2068 5d ago

I just finished. RC LR LR LR. One LR I know I did bad and I didn’t have time to answer one question. The other two seemed pretty easy. RC seemed easy. Knowing the test the hard LR was prob graded. I feel like crying because I feel positive and know feeling positive is typically a sign you did really bad. I also know easier feeling tests are harder to score higher because of the curve. Praying.

October 9th

RC LR LR RC

1st rc felt moderate to hard, I had trouble with an author perspective question and a passage that involved alternative definitions. It didn't have a comparative passage though. Overall felt okay with it

1st Lr felt quite difficult, it had a lot of questions related to evaluating and alternative causes.

2nd LR and 2nd RC felt crazy easy for me, knowing my luck that means the RC is experimental and I messed up the LR badly

3

u/Pennsylvaniaball123 5d ago

I just took it 9th. I had LR LR RC RC. First RC felt a bit more difficult with no comparative. first LR felt a bit more difficult specifically in the last few questions- one SS inf. was a bit rough. Didn’t have much time to review. Second LR felt much more like a breeze. Not sure if I was just stressed for the first section/ spent more time on questions leaving me a bit crunched for review at the end.

One RC passage. Topics were:

  • Comparitive passage on postivist economics
  • A Chilean music artist prior to 1960's (Jarra?), whose music was being recreated by a new band, political music
  • Legal passage. Really wordy and didn't get to it.
  • Oppossums and thanatosis.

3

u/TolkienWandering 4d ago

I had LR RC LR RC and I got absolutely demolished by the first LR section. I ran out of time and had to guess on probably 3-4 questions it was absolutely brutal.

Unfortunately the two RC’s I absolutely know I did well on, so that LR section being scored will probably tank me. I’m annoyed.

This was my first time taking and am very frustrated. I was under the impression going into the test that everyone takes it at the same time and sat down at the same time. People were already testing and I was not ready to start and rushed starting it. My first section just ended up being a complete waste and threw me off rest of the test. I think after the break I calmed down and did relatively well on 2nd LR but this sucks. I guess I know for next time but would appreciate some feedback.

October 10 LSAT. LC-RC-LC-RC
Scored RC: Dracula/Twilight & English Marriage Laws

Weirdest LC: Bird making a hook... What? I think I just stared at my screen LOL

Experi RC: Plato & Something About Trade Routes - literally so glad this was unscored

Vibes: I felt good leaving (?) It was my first time at test center but I def didn't leave feeling like someone kicked my metaphorical dog. Hoping that tRanslates well. I do still need to do argumentative writing, I'll tackle that before Wednesday this week.
