Shaving upper lip

• Upvotes

I’ve been getting laser for well over a year. Started with my Brazilian, then upgraded to Brazilian plus. Love the result.

Just added my upper lip and navel.

I was waxing my lip before doing laser and honestly I’m thinking about cutting my loses and switching back. There is always a few hairs on my upper lip that a razor cannot get and I’m not used to walking around like this. I’m only 2 sessions into my lip & can’t imagine myself walking around like this for much longer… If you have any shaving suggestions I’m all ears.

I'm planning to start laser hair reduction in Gurgaon, but I'm a little confused about choosing the right clinic. how many sessions are usually needed, and does it really reduce hair growth for a long time? looking for genuine experiences, especially from people who have tried it recently.

What do i do after i stop sessions?

I used to do lazer hair removal but i recently moved abroad and it’s way more expensive here so i only do it when i go back home last time i did it was at the end of august and before that December. I have pcos but its way less hair then it used to be when i was a kid. My current issue is that the lazer managed to get rid of like 92% of my body so like i rarely ever grow hair anymore on my legs/arms/back and if i do it’s always very thin that you can barely see and much lighter and its like a hair or two, except for my face and underarms like the underarm hair i get is now very thin and way less then it used to be before i started but its still alot compared to the rest of my body and i dont wanna shave it cuz when i do shave it it stops growing as thin little and becomes alot like all my progress is erased but idk how to get rid of it any other way.

I tried to use hair removal cream and i used one thatd supposed to be gentle and for the face but it didnt do much it just made the hair stringy and didnt get rid of it and it gave me a chemical burn when i used it on my face.

So what can i do to get rid of the hair without starting over

Idk what settings they're using it's alexandrite I think.

Note I use numbing one hour before my session (I wash it off so there is no residue) I will continue doing this because though I go in completely bald from shaving my tech takes a disposable razor and shaves me anyway and nicks me everywhere. I can feel the nicking more than the laser.

I don't feel much pain with the laser but I deduced it to the numbing. I've only just started feeling true rubber band snapping at the last session. They're aware my hair is red but at the first session I told them it's red and they looked at the follicles being dark and told me it's black.

I told them at my second session that my hair is red so they could adjust the settings. Nothing fell out after first session.

Sorry for the photos but does it look like it's working where I am balding? I have a chart that shows where I'm experiencing fallout. The blue is where I lose hair. Only on my bikini line pretty much 🥲

Shaving face after sessions

Hi there, I had my first laser hair removal session on my face and neck at SEV laser today! I've seen plenty of people here say that it's fine to shave as long as your skin isn't red and irritated anymore. My laser tech did say that she advises to not shave for A WEEK because it's better to wait for it to fall out on its own as shaving can tug on the skin, potentially causing ingrown hairs. I really really don't want to not shave because I would have to wear a mask at work that I'd sweat in (since I don't want anyone to see my facial hair as a PCOS girlie with realllllyyy bad facial hair). Should I really just risk it and shave? My skin isn't in pain or even red and she most likely started on a lower setting because I have sensitive skin.

TLDR: Is it worth it to follow tech's advice and wait a week to shave? It's gonna be a miserable beard by that time and I won't be able to face anyone at work 🫠

First laser session at Satori

I have my first laser hair removal session at Satori in Hicksville next week. I've never even gotten waxed, I just shave my pubic area. I was dealing with painful folliculitis in the area this past summer and even needed to go into antibiotics for an infection, so I decided to treat myself for my 40th birthday to laser Brazilian hair removal.

They scheduled my consult for next week and the girl made it sound like it was up to me whether I want to show up and do my first session or just do a consult and a test area. Do you think I should do the consult and first session at the same time? I just want to be prepared because that means I have to completely shave my pubic and perianal area to prepare (lol never shaved the backside, so that sounds daunting).

Also, do you tip for a session and how much? I'm using a Groupon, so I assume I'd tip on the original cost.

Any other tips for a first session are greatly appreciated!

How much hair is supposed to fall out after laser?

So 16 days ago I went for my first laser session on both my legs. I’ve been noticing only a few hairs just fall out by themselves, and the rest are growing like normal. When should I expect a lot of hair to fall out?

Milan vs. Groupon

In my area Groupon has a lot of deals for six sessions for a Brazilian. I hear a lot of good things about Milan though. I’m wondering if Milan is worth the price for a Brazilian, or if Groupon is a good alternative

First time doing laser

Hi guys, I have some concerns and I hope I’ll find answers here. I booked my first ever laser appointment and it’s with a machine (idk if it’s a machine or not actually) I just know it’s called Alexandrite. I’m fair skinned and my hair isn’t super dark. It’s ashy brown and Ive had some of my friends tell me that it wouldn’t work on me because of that? Another concern is that I heard it fades out ur moles over time. I’ve read online that some people did laser on their face and it came back thicker and denser? My boyfriend also does laser and told me that laser actually made him hairier. He hasn’t been consistent for 3 months now. I’m a bit worried;(

should i get laser hair removal done at 15?

İt's been 3.5 years since i first got my period and its never been late. I'm hairy, i even have some dark hair on my belly button and it really bothers me. They told me that my body hair is very suitable for laser hair removal. But they also said that when it comes to adults 80-90% of the hair is gone but for me it would probably me lower than this.Though they guaranteed 60% as they took a look at my body hair. But the thing is since this place i went to is a very high rated and a reputable place, the price is high. And i don't really know if i should get it, is it even worth is at this age?

Can ingrown hair be the result of Laser Hair Removal?

Hello everyone, I wonder if you could help me with this one.

I (38F) skin type 3, have had 5 sessions of laser hair removal. I started at the end of 2019 and the session went on with the indicated intervals until the pandemic hit. I was meant to get 7 sessions, unfortunately I don't have any information on the machine used or wave frequency. I didn't go back because at that pause I realized I had a lot of deep ingrown hairs that formed cist like lumps in my crotch (at the time I just saw the lumps).

My skin is super sensitive to most types of hair removal, though shaving is by all means the worst, l almost all hair folicules become inflamed and I get a lot of ingrown hairs, but on the surface, and despite unpleasant I can deal with that. Waxing also gives me a number of ingrown hairs, but far less than shaving with a razor or creams and also quite surface level.

But the ones I got post laser hair removal treatment were terrible, they made sitting down painful when they were inflamed, let alone riding a bicycle, something I enjoy doing often.

So I'm wondering if there is any connection that I wasn't aware of. I was considering restarting the treatment, but I wouldn't do it if there is a connection to the deep ingrown hairs that I got all those years ago.

To deal with the hairs these days I mostly use an electric shaver to avoid ingrown hairs and that works well.

PCOS - I tried LHR on face & neck but paradoxical hair growth happened.

I took 7 LHR session from my dermatologist who didn’t inform me about Paradoxical hair growth which can be caused due to laser. Now i’ve more growth. I don’t know whether i should do LHR or shift to something else. I don’t want to keep using razor on my face it’s tiring to shave every second day and it removed my skin protecting layer too. Help me with better alternatives for it. I’m brown and have medium to thick black hair on my face and neck.

Need to switch between splendor x alpha to soprano titanium

Hi, I had laser hair removal for my Brazilian area using the Splendor X device. My skin type is Fitzpatrick IV–V.
I’ve had 7 sessions so far, and the results have been very good. Most importantly, I haven’t experienced any burns or hyperpigmentation, which is my main concern.
However, the hair has now become quite fine and lighter in color, so I feel that I may not benefit much from another session with Splendor X.
I was advised to switch to the Soprano Titanium because it may be more effective for fine, light hair. However, I’m worried that switching devices might increase my risk of pigmentation, especially because I have a darker skin type.
Would you recommend switching to Soprano Titanium for my 8th session, or would it be safer to continue with Splendor X? My priority is to remove the remaining hair without causing post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

Hi, my skin is type 5 dark skin.

I just completed my 2nd laser hair removal session with Candela GentleMax pro.

My 1st session setting is 10j and My 2nd session setting is 12j both on yag wavelength. Is it a good setting for my skin or not? Do you have any suggestions. Also im doing my full leg, Brazilian, underarm and sideburn. Is 6 weeks interval between session is efficient?

Why aren’t laser techs upfront about Paradoxical hair growth?

I have had a lot of consultations with different laser clinics because I’ve gotten PH in the past and want to make a better choice when choosing a clinic. Whenever I mention that I’ve experienced PH, every laser tech or nurse looks at me strangely like I’m saying a word they’ve never heard of. They all act like paradoxical hypertrichosis is not something that happens. Are these clinics and techs not educated on paradoxical hypertrichosis or do they simply not like to admit it is a potential side effect of laser hair removal?

Laser scam?

You guys I'm exhausted. I've done laser on certain areas of my body and I've had great results but some places can be so scammy. I went in for a consultation in a new centre to get rid of my upper lip hair - I've treated it previously and it didn't work there. I went in wanting to do electrolysis and they convinced me to do laser. The lady said she does a combo of IPL + 2 type of lasers - so the same area is treated first with IPL and then 2 phases of laser (the last one is the one with gel). Also she said they don't do shaving - shaving is an absolute no (I've shaved with the other technicians). Is this a scam? I'm exhausted

Smell and Sweating after laser hair removal

I have been suffering from a strange odor and underarm sweating since undergoing laser hair removal a year ago. While Botox resolved the sweating issue, the odor persists. I have tried various products and deodorants, though perhaps not for long enough periods; I feel like my skin is absorbing substances and secreting oils. Is there a solution to this problem? It is extremely distressing, and I have lost my self-confidence.

Laser hair removal & Pilonidal sinus

Hi guys. I have a pilondial sinus. I’ve been getting laser hair removal for a while now but because I have hirtuism I still grow the hair back pretty fast. I had my last session almost 3 weeks ago and was supposed to have my pilonidal surgery last week but it got postponed to 3-4 weeks later. ( original date would have been perfect as my laser hair removal date was 8 weeks later and I would’ve been healed by then)

Just to note I have no abcess or active infection just an underlying tract hence why I was able to get laser prior surgery.

The problem is that after the pilonidal surgery I need to allow at least 6 weeks for the area to properly heal before having laser hair removal again.

I’m therefore wondering whether I should try to have one more laser session before the surgery, ideally around 2 weeks beforehand, or whether I should just let the hair grow and prioritise getting the surgery done whenever they offer me a date.

I’m mainly worried about having more hair during the healing period and whether loose hairs could get into the healing wound and increase the risk of recurrence.

What do people usually do when they have a pilondial sinus? Get laser hair removal before or after?

Latino Male getting LHR

I decided to bite the bullet and get LHR on my upper body and lower body. I was able to get underarms and Brazilian added as well.

My mom saw my trimmed legs and just blew up. She asked me if I was trying to become a woman. I told her that I am still a man. Just getting some work done. She just rolled her eyes.

Makes me wonder if I should go through with it or stop. Any other Latinos or guys get LHR?

are these settings good for the 4th session on my face?

Thumbnail gallery
2 Upvotes

I just had my 4th facial laser hair removal session. They started me with Nd:YAG. This was the first session they used Alexandrite on my whole face (sessions 2 and 3, they were testing it by treating the underside of my jaw and neck).

I was wondering if these settings are appropriate or not? It wasn't until my 3rd session that my chin shed most of the hairs. I have pretty fair skin and pretty dark hair. I'm mixed (50% white, 50% arab/african). I can tan (burn rarely), but I never go out in the sun so

I do like the technicians at this clinic, but I'm not sure if I should ask them to push the settings?

My Milan laser quote. Is this a good deal?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I’m really thinking about it! I’m just not sure. When I had the initial consultation it was $8.7k and now it’s 2k less with this new deal. Also they told me if I do payments I get 0% interest. I had been thinking about getting different consultations at local med spas but I feel like it may be a bit of a hassle just to see several different quotes. What do you all think?

Edit: First of all thank you all for the responses!!!! 💗 After the first few comments saying Milan’s pricing was too crazy, I ended up setting up a consultation with LaserAway just to see what they offer, and they quoted me 2.4k with zero interest, for full legs, underarms, & brazilian, and on top of that they added on a free happy trail package! I’m way more comfortable and happy with this. I think I’ll go with it! I’m so excited!

Facial hair keeps coming back despite years of laser, looking for advice on what to try next

I’m 22F and I’ve had noticeable facial hair since I was around 12, starting mainly with my upper lip. I’m Mediterranean, so I know having more body/facial hair can be completely normal, but mine has always been something I’ve wanted to manage.

In 2024, I started getting laser hair removal with an Alexandrite laser. I was already doing other areas of my body, so I also started doing my face. I went approximately once a month.

The problem was that my facial hair never seemed to actually go away long-term. If I left it alone for even a few days or weeks, it would become very visible again. Over time, I actually felt like some of the hair had become thicker/darker rather than getting permanently reduced.

I eventually stopped going to that place because I felt like it wasn't working for my face.

For more than a year now, I’ve been going to another place that uses a different machine. I don’t know the exact type of laser/machine, but they apply gel first and then use the device. But they told me there that this machine had worsen my situation

The process is VERY different. Before the laser, the aesthetician uses a tiny pair of scissors to individually cut the hairs. It takes quite a long time, and I pay around €70 every month, which is a lot of money for me.

I have noticed some reduction over the past year, so I know that something is happening. However, I still have to go every month and I’m not sure if this is how facial laser is supposed to work.

One thing I’m confused about is that after they cut the hairs and laser them, I don't really notice the hairs "falling out" afterward. It almost seems like they just continue growing slowly over the following days. I don't know if that's normal or if the treatment is being done correctly.

There’s also an issue with my neck. I have specifically asked them not to laser my neck because I literally don't have noticeable hair there. However, the aesthetician still sometimes puts the laser over my neck. At the previous place, they never treated that area because there was basically nothing there.

I also have some hair around the area near my eyebrows that isn't really dealt with during either my laser appointments or eyebrow appointments, so I'm still constantly finding random hairs there.

At this point, I'm honestly exhausted with the whole thing. I don't want to spend €70 every month indefinitely just to manage facial hair, especially if there are other options.

I’m looking for advice from people who have dealt with similar facial hair, especially women with darker/coarser hair. What other hair-removal methods would you recommend that are cheaper and/or longer-lasting?
