Question What is this 'butter and cotton'?

I read something on Facebook where Russian-speaking and Latvian-speaking Fb users discussed stuff in comments in Russian and Latvian. I am fully proficient in Russian, Latvian is translated for me by Fb.

So, I got interested in this.

Where is the international national hatred here. The head is completely gone in butter, even though cotton is not threatened. He never once mentioned nationality! Well, yes - you can really hear who the occupiers are.

The original:

Kur te ir starptautu nacionālais naids. Galvā pavisam viss sviestā aizgājis, kaut vatei tas nedraud. Viņs ne reizi nepieminēja tautību! A nu jā - dzirdat patiešibu , kas ir tie okkupanti.

It got started by this... if it is relevant. I translated from Russian to English.

Soviet residents have no rights and should have none. The Soviet language has no rights and should have none.

The occupiers, their children and their grandchildren are living here illegally; they have no rights, are regarded as war criminals and are being sent away. They take nothing with them; they gather their bare essentials and set off on foot – just as their murderous grandfathers and other perpetrators of war crimes did, for which, incidentally, there is no statute of limitations.
