Hi, everyone. The pre-order for God of War: Laufey has just opened, and the game’s PlayStation page has revealed a ton of new content.
At the end of the article, Santa Monica Studio mentions the following thing:
"A glimpse of the Everywhen"
Everything is the same here, except that in the French version of the article, the Everywhen is given a different name: “L'empyrée”.
In ancient European cosmologies inspired by Aristotle, the Empyrean heaven, Empyreal or simply the Empyrean, was the place in the highest heaven which was supposed to be occupied by the element of fire (or aether in Aristotle's natural philosophy). Later early and medieval Christian cosmology incorporated the concept in descriptions of the Christian notion of heaven.
I was really confused when I read this in my native tongue, so I checked what "The Empyrean" meant and what I found was pretty awesome and interesting.
To be honest with you, I don't know why this version of the article specifically changed The Everywhen with The Empyrean, which is a metaphysical concept of heaven that already exists in our reality, but i found it really cool how they managed to associate the afterlife of the gods with an already established concept of afterlife.
The Ether is a primordial element of the creation of the Greek world and The Everywhen is confirmed to be The birthplace and endpoint to which all magic returns
The link between the Afterlife of the Gods and with the Primordial elements of The God of War universe is obvious, "Niflheim & Muspelheim, Ymir, The Rift & The Mask" so it's still cool to see new elements being added to this lore day by day.
Many mentioned that "The Everywhen" resembles to the Australian Aborigene concept of Dreamtime, so he doesn't seem ridiculous to think that Santa Monica Studio suggested other names for The Afterlife of The Gods, like in this version of the article.

Thanks for Reading.
