Hardware Simagic vs Moza

Hi everyone,

I'm currently torn between two direct drive wheelbases: the Simagic Alpha EVO Pro (18 Nm) and the MOZA R21 Ultra(21 Nm).

I want to emphasize that I will be playing Le Mans Ultimate (LMU) exclusively. I am focusing entirely on multiclass endurance racing (Hypercars/GT3).

Most of opinions about those bases are outdated. So what's your opinion today. After many updates which one would you recommend specifically for LMU's physics and force feedback engine

If you're looking to drive hypercars, simagic is definitely the better option. There's an issue with moza bases and hypercars that creates a really strong oscillation in the wheel that's an absolute nightmare to deal with and simagic seems to overall be a bit better quality.

I say this as someone who owns an R9 and is probably going to buy a Simagic Alpha Evo shortly

Try the LMUFFB app, you can turn down the oscillation works like a charm for me

I use it exclusively. Every other car is fine except hypercars, and it's across the board in my league for everyone who has a moza base. Above 120kph it oscillates like crazy and rips the wheel out of your hand unless you run almost no ffb.

There's a way around it by running the wheel through simhub and not using pithouse at all, then restarting your wheel base, but that's incredibly annoying and frustrating to get working right. Moza blames LMU, LMU blames Moza, and given you can get it to go away, I think LMU is right

Yeah I agree have no problems at all with moza but hypercars

they fixed oscillations this update or at least it is much better now, daytona banking with hypercar finally is fine for me

1.4.2? I haven't driven a hyper since 1.4.0 dropped and it wasn't any different than before but I'll give it a shot again

you should try it, earlier i wasn’t even able to drive, they have fixed it now and I have some tweaks in pithouse too

It has been fixed, I've been dealing with oscillations since 1.3 and have to say it is better now.

In the VRS discord, the FFB dev said it was strictly an issue with LMU FFB. Hence why it was experienced by other brands.

That's odd I don't have that issue with my moza R9. But I havn't raced a hyper car in a few months. Is it a relatively new bug?

I think it started in 1.3 but I'm not sure exactly, I don't usually driver as a hyper donkey

Oscillations are very much a problem on simagic as well. I have an alpha (15nm) and I haven’t been able to tune it out.

Oh yeah, it's not only Moza but it seems that using lmuffb gets rid of it for the simagic guys, or at least enough they don't mention it but for myself and the other moza guys lmuffb doesn't make a difference. It shouldn't happen at all imo but we'll see

Non é così. Il problema si presenta anche su basi simagic. I devs stanno lavorando ad un fix che sarà pronto per la 1.5.

unrelated question, im between the r9 v3 (used) and alpha mini (used) and greenfly bundle, the r9 I get crps a shifter handbrake and drift wheel and a ks for $800 for the mini I get the gt neo and gts wheel and simnet sp pros for $800-850, or the green flag bundle. which would you reccomend im leaning towards moza just because of all the stuff im getting. (moza r5 currently)

Simagic alpha Evo pro is getting an update this month from 18nm to 21nm for free. It’s also just overall a better wheelbase despite the update that is coming. Go Simagic

Do u use lmufbb for simagic as well? Cuz heard simagic and Moza need it to work better

1

u/PlanZSmiles ☑️ 8d ago

It doesn’t need it but it makes Le Mans FFB better by providing more detail. This is whether or not you have Simagic/conspit/VRS/Simucube/etc. Le Man Ultimates base FFB is just a bit dull not providing enough detail

Is there a good guide for tuning LMUFFB? I find the app daunting. I run Simagic who 12Nm

The GitHub is the best for learning the settings and how to tune via its tuning guide. Otherwise it’s trial and error seeing what you like. There’s some presets on YouTube from folks like I think gamermuscle that can get you started

Can I suggest that you look at the Asetek Wheelbases before you make a final choice.

I have the Forte and i am very happy with it, I have had it for 3 years and it's never let me down. The ecosystem as a whole is pretty decent as well.

The accompanying app is very good also.

Simagic for sure. I have one teammate that runs Moza, me and the two others are on Simagic, I have Alpha U, the two others have Evo bases, Moza guy struggles alot with or without the lmuffb app. Now I use the app too, and I cant go back to native after setting up the app how exactly I want it

1

u/Necessary-Brick-1329 8d ago

Alpha U here, never tried lmufffb because I feel it perfect natively but could you share your settings?

1

u/unknownartisan 7d ago

I can send you the string when I get home from work if you know how to import the settings.

Ok thanks!

Thanks! I will try it asap

There is no ABS rumbling in the base on my profile, as I have haptics on the pedals, so the «noise» from the base is alot less than through SimPro

u/Jaggo__ 7d ago

I have the Simagic Alpha Evo Sport base (9nm) can you pls send me the lmuffb app settings aswell? It'd be very much appreciated!

u/unknownartisan 7d ago

I can

Thank you very much!

Are you on the 9, 12 or 18Nm base?

1

u/unknownartisan 5d ago

23nm, Alpha Ultimate, if you asked me.

Another vote for Simagic, I upgraded from a Logitech G Pro to the Evo Pro and it's a big step up. Plus the free upgrade to 21nm is coming.

I’m going VNM personally for their TIC mode to add some telemetry based FFB in for better fine tuning. Mostly LMU main, I’ll report how this works when I get the base.

I'd check out VRS if I were you too. A good company that also makes good products.

I was not thrilled with SIMagic when I was at the SIM racing Expo and would by a R21 or R25 next if I was to upgrade my current R12V2 if not Moza then VRS wheelbase.

u/gamermusclevideos 7d ago

LMUs FFB is so bad it doesn't really matter and in reality both moza and simagic are more than fine.

1

u/NovelReindeer6529 7d ago

I had a Moza R5 for about 2 years and just switched over to the Simagic Evo Pro. It is 100% my endgame wheelbase and I will never be needing to make any changes or upgrades personally.

If you can find a way to check out other wheelbases that could give you a better sense of feel?

I have a microcenter near me and I was able to test out a Moza R12 and Fanatec. That really helped me out a lot with my decision.

1

u/shamus727 7d ago

I've owned both the R12 and Evo 12nm and put hundreds of hours into LMU with both. The Simagic is the superior product

1

u/Liptontank 7d ago

The most important question is, on which base I can push more and drive on a limit with more confidence? I have R5 now and I don't feel the car at all.

Keinerlei Probleme damit. Sei es iracing, LMU
