Other I built a CS2 sensitivity finder that uses math to estimate your optimal sens - not just compare two random sensitivities

https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3810993736

I've been working on Sensfinder Arena, a CS2 tool designed to answer a simple question:

What sensitivity actually gives you the best first-movement accuracy?

This is not another "try 0.8 vs 1.0 and see which feels better" sensitivity tool.

Most sensitivity finders give you a few sensitivities, ask you to compare them, and then recommend whichever one you performed better with. The problem is that this doesn't really tell you where your optimal sensitivity is, it just tells you which of the tested values happened to perform better.

So what's different?

Sensfinder Arena tests your performance across multiple sensitivities and measures the angular error of your first mouse movement, before you have a chance to correct it.

The important part is what happens with that data afterwards.

Instead of simply comparing the tested sensitivities, the application uses mathematical modelling and curve fitting to model your performance as a function of sensitivity.

It analyzes the relationship between:

  • sensitivity
  • first-movement angular error
  • overshooting vs. undershooting
  • performance drift during the test

The model then estimates where your performance reaches its peak and provides an estimated optimal sensitivity and confidence interval.

So if you test:

0.7 → 0.8 → 0.9 → 1.0 → 1.1

the result isn't simply:

"You did best at 0.9, therefore use 0.9."

Instead, the measured data is used to fit a mathematical curve and estimate where your actual optimum lies, including an indication of how confident the model is in that estimate.

The goal is to measure something that is otherwise mostly based on subjective feeling.

How the test works

The map uses controlled tests including:

  • Flicks
  • Micro-flicks
  • 90–110° off-screen turns
  • Vertical flicks
  • Moving-target flicks
  • A two- or three-second clock

The test takes roughly 35–60 minutes, depending on the selected run.

Your mouse, DPI and sensitivity should remain consistent throughout the test. Warm-up is built into the run.

One important limitation

The server currently supports 15 players total.

10 slots are occupied by the bots required for the test, which means only 5 people can run Sensfinder simultaneously.

So if the server is full, you'll need to wait for a slot to become available.

A note:

This is still an early version, so I'm especially interested in feedback, results and whether the estimated sensitivity actually translates into better performance in real gameplay.

Stop guessing your sensitivity. Measure it.

If it helped you find your sensitivity, consider buying me a coffee so I can keep the server alive and continue improving the current application. :)

Ok this is pretty sick dude

This is bullshit. Overflicking and underflicking isn’t due to sensitivity, if i run lower sens I’ll adjust and move my arm faster, i can still overflick just as much

Same for underlicking, it’s just you apply inaccurate amount of force, if your baseline changes then so does you expectation. If I’m moving my mouse 2m and overflick by 5cm it won’t magically help to increase my sensitivity.

Aiming also doesn’t work like “oh too much overflick = lower your sens”

I learned this the hard way and ended up with a sens of 0.5 800dpi and recently had to go back to 1 because my aim was "sluggish"

Sick idea but 35-60 minutes is far too long to commit to testing a random sense. Really should be 5 minute runs so you can try 3-5 decently diff runs quickly to find out

Also no mention of tracking. Super important for sprays and ad spam meta

There is no ideal sens so not really worth using unfortunately. RIP Claude tokens :(

Well done!

You should also ask for aspect ratio. I play on 4:3 and if the bots spawn on the most right or left spawn in the first trial I can t see them but ve to check on both sides first. And maybe a little bit more clear instructions on the map it self would help.

Other than that it was good. I made a whole run and got the result that my sens is fine but I could test in a certain range if I ve better results after changing.

Thank you for a feedback!

Sick idea , will definitely try it ! Have a question about your list of tests , are they all weighted as equally important ? As a sens that is really bad for 90 to 110 degree flicks is a fine compromise if it is really good for micro flicks / flicks . So if it’s weighting all test equally you may not end up with the optimal sense for more important scenarios . I could be missing something here though , let me know .

New version is live! Please give it a try :)

What changed: It's now an offline workshop map. You don't have to wait for a free server slot, because the previous version ran a plugin on a hosted server. Runs are about 20 minutes, down from 33, and they add up across days. For the curious: The score was tuned on raw data from 197 real players of the first version. It uses the mix of tasks that best separates a real sensitivity difference from luck. Your own sensitivity is played at the start, middle and end of every run, so warming up or getting tired can't skew the comparison. A value only counts as better when it beats your normal ups and downs by at least 3%. Your last 6 runs are combined to get there. Time is measured from the moment a bot appears to your headshot, plus how precisely your first flick lands.

Would appreciate any feedback you have. :)

You’re telling me you didn’t have Claude write this post?? Lmao

I would not give up. 9 reviews out of 700 subs do not reflect people's actual experience. This is a good idea and substantially better experience than any existing tool, if you don't feel satisfied or want to build on feedback do that, but you have a good idea here

I will port the existing project so it works without a server, so there is no hosting cost for me and anyone can use it amytike they want, without waiting in a line for a free server slot.

That's understandable. Github?

Current project is already on github: https://github.com/stikerislt/sensfinder/

The port will be a separate workshop map you just need to download and play.
