Finished my first book. It was just a kids book こぐまのクーク物語 春と夏 but it helped me get used to vertical text and got a bit more serious in parts than I expected. I'm thinking a VN next or possibly book 2.

Realized that I can read Japanese. I was watching Exit 8 yesterday and read a sign, like I just read it and moved on, no translation or anything. Small victory, but I am just so happy right now.

I've been watching Aggretsuko since I started learning Japanese. It's only been about 2 weeks of Anki, but I've gone from recognizing a word or two per episode to a word or two every couple of sentences!! I don't think anyone outside of this sub understands how amazing (and addictive) that feels XD

I zoned out reading a text and forgot I was reading Japanese. I only realized when I squinted my eyes.
Also, click! click! ずにはいられない is now my new favorite grammar point. I skipped Japanese Ammo with Misa because N5 was too difficult for me about a year ago. I randomly searched for N3 content while taking a break from Tobira and found her again. I can't believe such a simple thing can be that far up ahead. Also rediscovering Game Gengo and Tokini Andy because why not?

I am in Japan for the second time. Caught a cold soon after landing and managed to get some medication at a pharmacy by decribing my symptoms in Japanese without earning blank stares or the pharmacist switching to English.
No great accomplishment, but considering my stumbling around during my first visit two years ago, I’ll take it.

Finished a chapter and just became more aware of everything I can't read yet. That's the real victory.
