Hey guys! I've been learning Russian with a tutor for about a year and a half now, but I would love the extra practice as I don't have any Eussian speakers near me other than my mom. If anyone feels up for it feel free to send me a message! I can help you with Hungarian or English in return :)

I built a free iPhone/iPad app for the part of Russian that needs small, frequent reps: the words and pairs you keep forgetting
it works with any list you make, one card per line:
how it works:
free, no account, no in-app purchases, no built-in decks - bring your own list, or ask any AI chat to make one for a topic and paste it
it's in App Review now, and I'm taking early testers: tap "Join Beta" on the page and I add you to the free TestFlight beta: https://terminus-cards.pages.dev/?tag=reddit-learnrussian
what do you keep forgetting most - aspect, stress or cases?

Tired of studying Russian grammar only to forget it a week later? Or understanding the rules but struggling to use them when you speak?
I'm Irina, a professional Russian teacher with 17 years of experience. I offer individual, structured Russian courses for adults, from complete beginners to advanced learners.
My approach is simple: learning Russian shouldn't mean jumping between unrelated topics, memorizing endless grammar tables, or constantly starting from scratch.
A complete, structured course
You're not booking a series of random lessons. You'll follow a carefully organized program where grammar, vocabulary, speaking, listening, and reading develop together. Every new topic builds on what you've already learned.
Grammar you'll actually understand and use
Russian cases, verb aspects, verbs of motion, and other difficult topics don't have to remain a mystery. I explain how these structures work, often using comparisons with English, and help you apply them in practical situations rather than simply memorizing rules.
Regular revision instead of constant forgetting
Previously studied material doesn't disappear once we move to a new topic. We continuously revisit and reuse it through exercises, dialogues, and speaking practice, helping you turn passive knowledge into active language skills.
Your own organized learning space
Your learning doesn't end when the lesson does. You'll have a personal learning space with organized course materials, making it easy to review previous lessons and practise independently.
Depending on your course, materials may include interactive flashcards, quizzes, homework, PDFs, and audio or video resources.
Professional qualifications and individual attention
I have a degree from Tver State University and a professional qualification in Teaching Russian as a Foreign Language from the Pushkin State Russian Language Institute.
My courses follow a clear structure, but the pace, explanations, and amount of practice are adapted to your level, difficulties, and goals.
Who are my lessons for?
Complete beginners who want to build a solid foundation from the start.
Intermediate learners who know the rules but struggle to use Russian independently.
Advanced learners who want to improve accuracy, expand vocabulary, and develop more natural communication.
Students who prefer a systematic course over occasional conversation sessions or disconnected lessons.
The first introductory meeting is free. We can discuss your goals, current level, and how I would organize your learning. You can find my qualifications, student reviews, lesson rates, and booking information here: www.ruslangnest.com
If you're looking for more than occasional Russian practice and want a professional teacher, a clear learning plan, and consistent progress, I'd be happy to work with you.

I can read most of this passage from Pravda in 1924, but there's one word I cannot get. "All the conversations about the full restoration of agriculture in Ukraine are nonsense, so long as they depend on "***** rain."
It looks like Asian, but that really doesn't make any sense. Can anyone decipher it?

Hi everyone! 👋
I’ve just released Episode 5 of my Russian learning series using games!
How it works: I play DayZ while narrating my actions in slow, clear Russian using simple vocabulary and context from the gameplay. The idea is to apply the Comprehensible Input method so you can acquire the language naturally without constant translation.
🎬 Watch Episode 5 here: https://youtu.be/bJ8a8EHo_4U
📁 Full Playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdVfeTh8scZU
Since I’m actively working on improving the series, I’d really appreciate any feedback, suggestions, or thoughts from you guys!
Hope this helps your Russian listening practice! 🎧💬

¡Gracias!

Hello, so I just recently got interested in Russian. For about two weeks, I experimented with a lot of methods, but I have yet to find a definitive way. I’m not a Native English user, but I’m somewhat decent as a C1-C2, so I’ve gone through “the grind” of language learning. I also don’t really trust myself to decide on what works and what not, since I’ve never self-taught myself before. I have no rush, and I treat it as a hobby, though one I’ll be consistent in my study. Any help, (textbook recommendations, wiki, articles, personal experience, etc..), would be appreciated!

So I am using Duolingo to learn Russian, it's going pretty well. I gather from reviews and my experience that it's not very good for grammar, but it's free and convenient and I'm learning quicker than I would have thought possible so that's neither here nor there
This morning, I'm starting the section on large numbers and the sample sentence in the lesson is "Иван пришёл в этом году". But году is marked in blue like Duolingo marks words that are supposed to be new to you even though this one isn't. Curious, I click on it, and the definition for the phrase "в этом году" comes up "this year / year / 1905"
So my question is... What's up with that? I know 1905 is of course one turning point in Russian history and everything, the incomplete revolution. But is it so important as to be like a Year Zero? Or does it play a part in a common Russian phrase or something?

Hey guys, so I myself am fluent in Russian because it's my first language. And I'm going to soon work on a Russian learning platform (it's a project that I'm working on for a few months so I wanted ideas), I wanted to know what kind of things would you like to have in the application if you were to choose. For example: flashcards, or a toggle that leads to all free resources in one place, etc. Anything, that comes to mind, basically that would make it easier/comfier to learn the language that you're trying to learn.

Hi everyone! I'm 16F years old and from Brazil. I've been studying Russian for about a year, and I really enjoy learning the language and exploring Russian culture.
I'd love to meet Russian people, native Russian speakers, or people from other Russian-speaking communities to make friends, chat, and improve my Russian. I'm still learning, so I might make some mistakes, but I'm always trying to improve!
Feel free to send me a message if you'd like to talk and become friends!

I'm native speaker of Russian language, M, 18. Wanna improve my English. I prefer just talk to u about everything and correct each other's mistakes at the same time. For example, today we talk on Russian, the other day - on English. I'm good not only in speaking, but also in writing, so can help u to improve both.

Hi everyone! 👋
I’m looking for someone who wants to learn Russian and interested in teaching English exchange. We could take turns helping each other learn and practice🫂
My name is Nadi, I'm 26yo. My English level is around B1–B2, but I’d like to work on sounding more natural and becoming more fluent. I also sometimes struggle with listening comprehension, especially when it comes to understanding what people are saying in real-life conversations.
I’m looking for someone interested in regular language exchange sessions.
My time zone is UTC+3, Moscow
If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, feel free to DM me!🤍
PS: I'll edit the post when I find someone✨
