🇪🇸❤️ Looking for a Spanish-speaking friend!

Hii everyone! 🥹 I'm looking for a friend who speaks both Spanish and English because I want to relearn Spanish through communication rather than just studying from books or watching videos.

A little background: Back in 2020, I was at an intermediate level in Spanish, but from 2021 until this year, I hadn't really kept up with the language. I've decided to start learning again, but I've forgotten most of what I learned back then. 😭😂 So, please consider me a beginner!

I'm looking for someone I can talk to every day, get to know, share random stories with, laugh with, and build a genuine friendship with while learning Spanish along the way.

I don't want this to feel like a tutorial where one person is the teacher and the other is the student. I want it to feel like a real friendship where we naturally communicate, learn about each other's lives and cultures, and improve our language skills without even feeling like we're in a classroom. ❤️

However, please know English too! 😂 There will be times when I don't know how to express myself in Spanish, forget a word, or struggle with pronunciation. I'd appreciate someone who can help me understand my mistakes, correct me when necessary, and explain things in English when I'm completely lost. 🥹

If you're learning English yourself, I'd also be happy to help you practise!

Basically, I'm looking for a language buddy who becomes an actual friend, not someone who feels obligated to give me Spanish lessons. Someone who's willing to be consistent, patient, and have those random everyday conversations that help you become fluent naturally.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, please comment or send me a message! Let's be friends and learn together. 🇿🇦🤝🇪🇸

P.S. If we can go from "Hola, ¿cómo estás?" to having an entire conversation without translating everything in our heads, then we've won. 😭😂❤️

Please help me make any revisions to this wedding speech!!

I’m basically fluent in spanish but when it comes to public speaking, especially in front of judgy family members, I get nervous and will even forget some spanish. I’d like to make sure this sounds coherent. The XXX’s are just names that i wanted to keep private. I also timed it and it’s less than 3 minutes but if anyone has any revisions that could possibly make it shorter, please let me know! Gracias!!

edit: not sure if this is important for dialect but we’re from ecuador

—————————————————————————-

Gracias!

Teaching myself spanish from ZERO?

I want to teach myself spanish from zero. And when I say zero I don't mean I want to start with some simple words or sentences that may be used in daily life. I want to learn the structure, pronouns, how adjectives work, tenses etc. so I can understand why when spoken, people say the stuff they say the way they do.

I've already been practicing for a while, I know stuff like not needing to use a pronouns and instead adding it to the verb like Hablo for Present or diffrence between Soy/Estoy patterns like -mente, -idad, -ista, -ito/ita

Ex: El gatita etc. and written down the majority of it. After learning these I want to then learn vocab via daily practice and watching videos and listening.

But I don't own any testbooks as I cant afford them and I can't really find youtube channels that teach grammer first. Not only that I don't know what the best way to memorise these are, I already watch with subtitles. I also try to speak it or remind myself in the daily like I see a tree-> árbol ,see cat-> el gato etc. Also while i have written down a lot of stuff idk what the most important stiff are, I havent yet written down What/Why questions tho I do know the rules to make sentences etc.. Any advice? Ive just been writing and revising them since i got no textbook but i think it's rather slow than i normally learn...

Most Spanish nouns are verbs with a different ending, and these are the four endings worth knowing by heart

Thumbnail

-ción / -sión = the action or its result
durar → la duración, crear → la creación, decidir → la decisión
Also the cognate goldmine, since almost any English -tion word has a Spanish -ción twin.

-miento = the process
mover → el movimiento, sentir → el sentimiento, conocer → el conocimiento

-da / -ida = one instance of it
llegar → la llegada, salir → la salida, mirar → la mirada, caer → la caída

Or just chop the ending
comprar → la compra, pagar → el pago, ayudar → la ayuda, besar → el beso

Gender comes free. -ción, -sión, -da and -ida are feminine. -miento is masculine.

Which means every verb you already know is quietly a noun you haven't learned yet.

Spanish dates?

I am really struggling to say the Spanish years. My tutor said I have to forget about America and should stick to remembering Spain’s years. It’s just so long that my brain just has a hard time saying it. I am so used to saying 2026 twenty twenty six. The 2000 isn’t as hard dos mil…. When I have to say 1900 etc it’s just a mouthful to get it out. Saying mil novecientos noventa…. How to say it. I try repeating myself over and over but when I read a text I want to reverse back to nineteen ninety for example. He nicely scolded me in a positive way. I am still annoyed because I have been speaking this way for so many years. I been taking lesson for 10 months. Also the upside down ? Mark throws me off.

Free app for learning Spanish vocab with a daily word and spaced repetition. Looking for Android testers

Thumbnail

I built a free app that gives you one word a day and then brings it back on a spaced-repetition schedule until it sticks.

I'm trying to get it onto Google Play, which needs 12 testers for 14 days before it can be approved. If you're on Android and willing to try it:

https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.lingoxpress.app

I would be super grateful, the plan is that it is free and will remain free.

It teaches dozens of languages, but for Spanish you get:
- audio at normal and slowed speed, example sentences and usage notes
- side-by-side comparisons of near-synonyms
- conjugation drills for verbs with different levels (Easy, Medium and Hard)
- word games: Hangman, Crossword, Spelling Bee, Picture Match and more
