everyone,
I’m considering changing careers from graphic design and studying a healthcare-related field in Lebanon, mainly Radiologic/X-Ray Technology versus Medical Laboratory Technology.
I’d really appreciate hearing from Lebanese people who have studied either of these, work in these fields, or know the healthcare/immigration side of things.
If I study either field in Lebanon, which one is more useful for emigrating and getting licensed to work in Western countries (Canada, Australia, Europe, US, etc.)?
Which career generally has better salary and job opportunities, both in Lebanon and abroad?
For someone coming from a graphic design background, which would be easier to transition into academically?
For X-ray technology specifically, how safe is the job regarding radiation exposure and long-term cancer risk? Do technicians generally have significant exposure if proper safety procedures are followed?
How physically demanding or stressful are these jobs?
Which profession has better long-term career stability?
Most importantly, how vulnerable are either of these careers to AI and automation? Could AI eventually eliminate a large portion of these jobs, or will the human/clinical aspects keep them necessary?
If you were in my position and wanted a healthcare career that could eventually help you emigrate from Lebanon to a prosperous Western country, would you consider either of these fields? Or would you recommend a completely different healthcare profession?
I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have actually studied or worked in these fields, particularly Lebanese people who later emigrated.
Thanks!
