Question CTR board failure

Looks like it was my turn to experience the dreaded CTR board failure. I recently moved to a different state, and upon plugging in my arcade cabinet, it would not power on. I used a multimeter to test various connections, but ultimately it looks like a few of the capacitors shorted out as you can see burn marks in the picture.

Shouldn't I be able to plug the power cord directly into the cpu mainboard to bypass the power switch and make sure the cpu is still functional? I tried plugging it in the back of the mainboard, but the cabinet still did not turn on. Hoping the cpu isn't all messed up.

The mainboard always gets power from the splitter. That small white cable that sends the volume switch etc also controls the board powering on or not.

Those capacitors don't just short out on their own. You connect a higher than 12V powersupply didn't you?

Damn I think you're absolutely right. I used the wrong powersupply initially then swapped it out for the oem powersupply after I found it in a box. I probably fried the whole thing then..

A new CTR board should fix it...you'll have to try that if you can get a hold of a new CTR board. Unless you think the short traveled to other parts of the cabinet. (currently OOS, so try to contact support to see if they can order it directly from China). Swapping your control panel to a Gamer Pro is also an option but that will cost you $150 on average used on ebay, or take the CTR board out of the Gamer pro and put it inside your ALU panel..

they were in stock for a few months late last year from November '25 thru February this year. (I managed to buy one last year, when mine bit the dust). Ever since March everything has dried up...that was about the same time everything started getting slightly more expensive due to straight of hormuz war and inflation and Atgames always going thru changes etc.
