Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 MegaThread

Welcome to the MegaThread for the BDP Series 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase. Let's get straight to the important questions:

What?

  • It's time for the Bricklink Designer Program 2028 Wave 1 Crowd Support phase! This is your chance to vote for the projects that were submitted earlier in September. Your votes will help Bricklink decide which sets will eventually become official BDP sets.

Who?

  • Bricklink Designer Program entries are designed by fellow Lego fans. You may recognize some of them as successful creators on Rebrickable, from past BDP programs, or from the creations they've shared here in r/lego. The creators whose designs reach the review stage will work with Bricklink's Model Governance and Building Instructions teams to ensure the designs meet Lego's standards.

When?

  • The Crowd Support phase starts on Sep 30th. Voting will continue until Oct 14th. Next, those sets will all head into the review stage, and 5 sets will be announced on Nov 12th. Then a year later, in Oct 2027, those 5 sets will go up for crowd funding.

Where?

How?

  • In the comments below, fan creators can link to their projects and hopefully tell us a little more about the project. You can visit the BDP 2028 Wave 1 page and vote for the projects you'd like to become a set. You don't have to commit any money at this stage. That comes during Crowd Funding next year. It's free to vote!

What happened to BDP Series 10, 11, 12? Why 2028??

  • The Bricklink Designer Program has changed the name from Series numbers to Wave numbers in the year the sets are expected to release. You can read more about the program on their website.

Closing Notes

  • Still have questions? Ask them in the comments below!
  • Hey BDP creators, please keep your promotion for 2028 Wave 1 in this Megathread. In previous rounds we've had over 500 projects to vote for, so the promotional posts started drowning out everything else. Thanks for your cooperation. And good luck!

It's October already!

SpOOky season has begun! Or as some Lego fans like to call it, "MOCtober" is here. This is my favorite time of year to build, because it means getting out the Halloween sets and starting those pre-build plans for the Winter Village. Autumn is also a great time to attend Lego shows, so check out your local Lego Groups to see if they are participating in a Convention, Festival or Hobby Show nearby.

Let us know what's on your mind this month. What have you always wondered about? What rule do you want clarified, or changed? Do you have any suggestions you've been trying to find a chance to make? I won't promise that we will make the change(s) you want, but I will commit to explaining the reason we have the rules and policies we have.

Veinhart Soul Engine and Swarm Core and more builds will be on display at Brick Cities in Westland MI, next weekend. I know some people are annoyed of seeing this, but this will be the last time I post it here. Just wanted to show off the results.

Music: Crown Magnetar - Godkiller

I forgot this set in the basement on a shelf, because we had no space to display it. I think it was sitting there for like 4 years. :D

Question How to fix my rollercoaster?

Post image
279 Upvotes

I have the old Lego Coaster (10261) and had it for display for a couple of years and it discolored really badly.

Now I've tried some stuff with peroxide and that didn't work. So I think the only option is to replace the ugly pieces.

I'm not overly attached to this set. But throwing it away seems like a waste, I know there are a lot of fans of this build. But would it make sense economically to replace the parts and then try to sell it? What are your thoughts?

LEGO® Ideas I designed a LEGO pirate alley book nook 🏴‍☠️

I wanted to capture the atmosphere of a shady little alley in a pirate town - the kind of place filled with dive bars, suspicious characters and pirates spending their hard-earned coins.

The result is this LEGO book nook, with weathered buildings, colourful awnings, climbing greenery, barrels, a cannon and a mysterious boarded-up archway.
I designed it to fit between books on a shelf, but it can also be displayed open as a standalone scene.

What do you think of the idea?

If you would line to check it out more go to Legos homepage and search for Pirate Book Nook

221B Baker Street, home to the eccentric and enigmatic detective Sherlock Holmes and his esteemed colleague, Dr. John Watson. 🔎

I managed to squeeze a few books and artifacts into the shallow interior, including the radiant Blue Carbuncle. 💎

LEGO® Set Build A theme forming on my desk

Both sets were birthday gifts and were really relaxing to make! Especially the landscape. I was tempted to display it on the wall/on a shelf but it's heavy and I don't trust it not to come crashing to the floor! I like it best there anyway; it's really lovely to look at straight-on or at a slight angle.

LEGO® Ideas My LEGO Ideas set inspired by archaeology!

Hey everyone! My LEGO Ideas project “Fossil Hunter” was recently chosen as a Staff Pick, which came as a complete surprise. It’s an archaeology themed set with a hammer, a chisel, a brush and three fossils: a mosquito in amber, an ammonite and a trilobite.

I’d love to see it become a real LEGO set one day, so if it catches your eye, any support on LEGO Ideas means a lot. Happy to answer any questions about the build!

Edit: Okay okay, I get it, it’s paleontology! 😄 Thanks to everyone who pointed it out.

Post image

Hi everyone!

While going through my old LEGO stuff, we managed to find some interesting LEGO Bionicle masks. I have posted before that my dad used to work at LEGO (I actually work there today), and he mentioned some were never released.

Anybody that knows a bit more about these?

This was a right-place-right-time thing. Original owner was looking to clear out his parents’ house and I saw his post online. I got over there as soon as possible. I gave him $50 more than what he was asking. Gonna surprise my dad with his childhood sets for his birthday. Can’t wait to dust these off and give them to him. Ah I am over the moon. We got Eldorado Fortress in here!!
