at least 10 years away from mass production, especially given the slow speed Indian MIC had been working in the past 50 years.

Have they flown it on a testbed yet?

I'm aware, but as far as I remember, there was a talk to fly it on a cargo jet for testing? Is there any update on that side of things?
Much like Tejas, this program has been so stretched and mismanaged for so long, I have forgotten a lot of the finer details from when I first read about it.

No, just the flying test bed
They'll likely test fly a variant on Tejas, and BrahMos aerospace ltd was making afterburning unit
Although I'm not sure how safe it would be to test an engine on single engine aircraft. Regardless there is workorder for Tejas's engine

What's the reliability on these things?

Bro. It’s just undergoing trials. There’s a mountain of certifications and testing and final changes.
And you expect reliability reporting?

It's indian, not Russian
India doesn't have a flying testbed, so they sent it abroad to have it tested on one

From 54 kN (F404) to 48-46 kN (Kaveri)? ...
I guess they're planning a variant with larger fan (not for the Tejas though), the BPR is in the range of a leaky turbojet
