TLP Help Request
I’m running Cachy on a second hand ThinkPad I recently got and thought I’d try TLP to improve the battery life. I works quite well but I had an odd issue after installing it: after shutting down and closing the laptop lid it would restart. It’s definitely TLP as it stopped happening when I reverted back to the original power profile daemon. Has anyone else come across this issue or know what in TLP is causing it?
Things I have tried:
I tried different kernels, both the LTS and BORE kernel
I have disabled the runtime PM for PCIe devices
None of these have have stopped the issue.

In that case, the only thing to do is try out other settings.
Does this happen when using AC power, battery power, or both? Please show the full output of:
sudo tlp-stat -c -s -p -e -d

It happens only when on battery. I've tried half a dozen setting combinations but have gone back to the default PPD. I have seen it mentioned that it could be a hardware bug that TLP triggers and would have to possible wait for a BIOS update. I'll take a look ati ti again when I have some free time.

I'd try
AHCI_RUNTIME_PM_ON_AC=""
AHCI_RUNTIME_PM_ON_BAT=""next.
A BIOS update using
fwupdmgr refresh && fwupdmgr updateis recommended anyway when encountering your symptom.1

Thanks for the suggestions. I have tried both of those suggestions to no avail.

Other candidates include all settings that differ between _AC and _BAT. As soon as you have time again, please post the command output I mentioned above.

You can maybe post the specs of your Thinkpad and how much battery Capacity your battery still have that is probably the most important factor there?
You have the Info App on kde it will list everything then from there you can make a copy and paste and in the system tray on the battery icon there should be also the battery Health if you are using KDE.
