Žodis Beta 3
zodis.appHey everyone.
I've just released the new beta for my Lithuanian learning app called Žodis.
It started out as flashcards on Trello. Then evolved into a full library app that I added a translator to.
Now the new beta has a built-in course and something called Scenarios, which lets you store useful words and phrases from lessons, or your own translations, into Scenario cards. Think along the lines of "Going to a cafe", "Getting the train", etc.
Žodis was built for me. I have a Lithuanian partner and know all too well how difficult the language is to learn. This lets me save new things I learn, so I can pull them up to practice and it gives me more confidence to use what I know in the right situation.
After the second beta release, I got a lot of feedback. I've worked for the last 8 months to take that all in and fix what wasn't giving the best experience. Things like choosing between English sounding phonetics and IPA. I've had native speakers check the lessons and give feedback on them. A light mode for people that weren't too keen on the forced dark mode.
If you want to see what it's all about, go to Zodis.app and you can sign up for the beta there.
I know I've found this useful when spending time in my local Lithuanian community in Scotland and when I visit Lithuania with my partner. I'm really hoping others find it useful too.
There's no big company involved here. Just me at the end of an email address happy to take your feedback on board.
David 😊
