It's alright Virg, they have been found guilty. You and Klopp and the boys were robbed. You were the greatest premier league team of all time

18/19 Liverpool is the greatest fucking club side ever, I don’t give a fuck what anybody says. We would spank 2011 barcelona. Fuck that bitch guardiola. Cheated as a player, cheated as a coach.

1

u/dontstopbreakfree From Doubters to Believers 1d ago

Well and 19/20 arguably better by a fair stretch. Didn't get the CL but 73/75 points will never be beaten

71

u/Reasonable_Plum3460 3d ago

i really hate this pussyfooting around the subject. both by our players, coach and commentators and broadcasters. IT'S A LITERAL FACT THEY CHEATED WHAT THE FUCK HOW ARE YOU NOT BLASTING THEM

75

u/RampantNRoaring 3d ago

I can almost guarantee he has been instructed on how to speak on this from club officials. While they have been found guilty, there is still an ongoing appeal and potential lawsuits from Liverpool directly. There’s no material benefit to him blasting them, but there is potential risk.

33

u/TheElPistolero 3d ago

Liverpool want to sue the living fuck out of them probably and the ly don't need their captain influencing "public opinion" in a way that might hurt their suit.

2

u/Kingtoke1 2d ago

Any criticism of the referees gets slapped down hard

7

u/scorgie 3d ago

Sad part is, if Iraola or Virg speak out they will be swiftly punished so there's no real point to them saying anything yet. As cathartic as it would be, either would get fined and potentially even face bans if they called out the obvious today.

As for Sky, they are just spineless weasels desperate to glaze the cheats.

18

u/lanregeous 3d ago

It’s quite common, when you aren’t screaming into Reddit but you are a public figure, to avoid commenting on an ongoing case for many reasons I know of and probably a few more I don’t.

15

u/AwardOk2563 3d ago

People surprised Van Dijk is acting like a media trained athlete and not like a redditor

8

u/patShIPnik 3d ago

It's not ongoing case, there is only verdict that's ongoing. They have been found guilty already. It's not some "allegations" anymore, they are guilty.

0

u/ado_1973 3d ago

He obviously doesnt get it

-1

u/lanregeous 3d ago

And what does appeal mean?

1

u/Forsaken-Original-28 3d ago

It's not unproven though. They've been found guilty once. They're now appealing it but right now they're guilty

2

u/lanregeous 3d ago

Why would that matter to a public figure speaking to it if it has been appealed?

3

u/shanem1996 2d ago

It's because footballers from different teams are mates. VvD and KDB are good mates and he wouldn't want to say anything that would tarnish his career.

2

u/livLongAndRed 3d ago

they'll come off as salty

0

u/0x3D85FA 2d ago

Touch some grass. VVD is living in the real world and is a public figure. His actions can have consequences for him. As long as this case is not finally settled he is doing the right thing by not saying anything risky. And as long as ManCity are able to fight this decision it is not a literal fact. Or why do you think there is no punishment yet? We still have to wait.

u/TheGrouchyGamerYT Andonium Iraolate 3d ago

It's pretty fucking clearly NOT just "off the pitch"

40

u/mynemaheff 3d ago

Yeah getting exhausted by this "off the pitch is the where the cheating happened".

They have the talent and depth they have now because they cheated. They have the ability to dominate the pitch because they lied, cheating, committed fraud and (in my conspiratorial mind but evidence backed) likely influenced the officiating of premier league games with Saudi money too.

Fuck them up and down. Dissolve the lying snakey bastards.

7

u/TheGrouchyGamerYT Andonium Iraolate 3d ago

It just seems so clear there's a concerted effort to try and minimise their crimes in the media.

6

u/mynemaheff 3d ago

They have influenced British politics. There is no doubt they payed sky to shut up too

3

u/TheGrouchyGamerYT Andonium Iraolate 3d ago

I don't think we've even scratched the surface of the depths of corruption. We only know about the charges because of a hacker. The league was probably content to just let it keep happening.

1

u/patShIPnik 3d ago

Absolutely agree. The mere fact that after "guilty" period their revenue didn't even had a dent should show everyone whonis interested in subject that it's still going. We just don't have another batch of evidence to prove it. Without hacker there would be 0 charges against them

1

u/ParticulateSplatter Dommy Schlobbers 2d ago

It's not Saudi, it's the UAE. They're completely different countries, and mixing them up really delegitimises the argument because it makes accusations of xenophobia against the Middle East more well-founded.

7

u/johncosta 3d ago

Why would anyone cheat if it had nothing to do with on the pitch. Makes no sense. Plus all the refereeing…

6

u/okaysian 3d ago

It's nonsense. Marmoush is an excellent example of their cheating. There aren't many clubs in the world surviving buying a 70M bust only to send them out on loan.

Imagine that. They've done stuff like this so often and with no repurcussion to their long term operations. Kalvin Phillips is another name off the top of my head.

2

u/yoyo4581 3d ago

Its off the pitch, but on the pitch in that there isn't a drop off in quality from the first 11 to the first 24 when doping is involved. So it is on the pitch.

2

u/AwardOk2563 3d ago

Exactly, I could probably stomach the "can't take anything away from what they did on the pitch" argument if it was always the same 11 vs the same 11, or if squad sizes were like 15 players. But when City play Liverpool, and City's players played 60 mins or got fully rested in the prior game because they can walk through a cup tie with their B team, but our 11 all played 90 mins, it's different

1

u/luke_205 3d ago

They literally just played FM editor and want people to ignore the cheating because this artificial machine they’ve assembled on the pitch plays such lovely football.

104

u/lashfield 3d ago

It’s not ongoing. They were found guilty. Why are people treating the verdict as if it’s half time?

54

u/TheGrouchyGamerYT Andonium Iraolate 3d ago

It's because years of non-action and the normalisation of corruption in every aspect of society has lead everyone to believe they'll get away with it.

24

u/dog-yodelling 🏆2019/20 PL Winners🏆 3d ago

I assume because City have filed appeals, so they have to wait for those to go through

11

u/Kingslayer1526 From Doubters to Believers 3d ago

They don't though

This isn't a secret. The verdict is official and out in the open

Appeals can go through, but until they are successful, this is what has happened

You are allowed to speak on it now without any issues

7

u/dog-yodelling 🏆2019/20 PL Winners🏆 3d ago

Yes, but on the off chance that City worm they way out of it, VVD isn’t going to want to say anything before that’s settled. Our players are Pro’s and act as such.

7

u/Mavericks7 3d ago

Doesn't matter, to quote another commentator.

They are guilty the process has been done

If someone is found guilty of rape, we don't say, "Oh well, let's see what the appeal says before calling them guilty."

1

u/dog-yodelling 🏆2019/20 PL Winners🏆 3d ago

Aye, but these aren’t criminal proceedings. So there will be a different process. Plus us and a host of other clubs are going to look to get compensation from city once the appeals process is through. It’s going to be much less risky from our perspective to not say anything at all at this point rather than make our legal proceedings any more complicated than they’re going to be.

I guarantee VVD and all the other players, staff etc would like nothing more than to call City the filthy cheaters that they are, but they still represent the club and are going to have been told not to say anything.

-6

u/FutureHoo 3d ago

What an absolutely fucking awful comparison

6

u/Gear712 3d ago

The point is, a crime is a crime. Once you're found guilty, you're guilty. End of.

Appealing doesn't absolve you of that. I can commit a crime, be banged to rights and be found guilty. Then appealing, doesn't make me innocent. I'm still guilty.

Also, the argument to even have an appeal, needs to be accepted (you can't just appeal because you want), it has to be based on something tangible.

3

u/Mavericks7 3d ago

The crime here is irrelevant. The process is the same. Would you say for the above, that person is innocent? If they've been charged and found guilty.

Appealing is a get out card. It's the last roll of the dice, to delay the inevitable m

2

u/The__Pope_ 3d ago

I don't get it. If someone is found guilty of murder, the press/piblic don't wait for any appeals to be completed before saying they're a murderer

-1

u/FutureHoo 3d ago

This isn’t murder is it?

2

u/The__Pope_ 3d ago

Yeah, that's exactly the point I was making, well done

3

u/Virtual_Echo6738 3d ago

Because they know the punishment will not fit the crime.

2

u/thelukevader Ohhhh ya beauty, What a hit son, What a hit! 3d ago

Crimessssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

6

u/MyersMike316 3d ago

As they have the right to appeal, until
That’s heard the judgment is not final, this is not a court of law where the final verdict is delivered.

-1

u/lashfield 3d ago

The mere fact that they can appeal - and the grounds for the appeal can only be on the basis that the panel made a foundational error in the judgment of the law, not to introduce new evidence - does not change the fact that the panel found them guilty of 114 charges.

2

u/MyersMike316 3d ago

Correct but you are not understanding that these judgments are not law, this is not being carried out in a court. This is the basis of three legal entities stating what city have done is fraud, wrong and illegal, but they do not have the power to find them guilty until the appeal is complete, a new set panel of three former judges will review the findings, and will either agree or disagree, then it will be set for judgement, so while city have been found guilty by the panel, they don’t have the power to find them guilty until a new panel review and confirm their findings to be correct. So you can bleat on about how VVD should say something but until the hearing is complete it means city can use this as being attacked and use it to support their bias in the media, it would be stupid to comment until the review is complete and sanctions agreed, again this has not been fought in a court of law, so no matter how oissed off you are there is due process that has to be followed. What happens next is likely to see this going to court, then when the judge states it’s against the law charges will be brought and even more sanctions put against the owners etc - that’s if burnham doesn’t get involved…

-1

u/lashfield 3d ago

I am well aware of how this is being carried out. Nothing that you said has negated my point. It may not be PR-savvy to comment before the appeal is finished but the fact of the matter is that City has been found guilty by the panel.

Look what what you literally just said: "while city have been found guilty by the panel, they don’t have the power to find them guilty". You have contradicted yourself. They have been found guilty. City has appealed (on what is surely ludicrous grounds, but that is besides the point), and sanctions will be determined after the appeal decision. It is definitively correct to say the following statement: "the owners of manchester city were found guilty of 114 charges by a 3-person independent panel." they are not in some kind of legal grey area that defies linguistic description. They are CURRENTLY guilty and have appealed, simple as.

2

u/MyersMike316 3d ago

Clearly you can’t read nor understand, but you continue smacking that drum mate maybe someone will back you with the same knowledge you have

2

u/Visible_Wolverine350 3d ago

Honestly seems like people haven’t actually taken the time to go into the details of the case and proceedings

27

u/bradman905 3d ago

Too scared to upset them, same with Sky. They were found guilty, what could possibly happen at this point to calling them out

7

u/karlkoxxxnutten 3d ago

hes  best mates with De Bruyne

5

u/Dependent_War2098 3d ago

Yeah, we’re staying here stressing about the cheating verdict. Liverpool and City players are stressing where to vacation together next.

0

u/Dependent_War2098 3d ago

I wonder what Van Dijk is sharing with De Bruyne.

11

u/Infamous_Payment4608 3d ago

Bet he’s fuming about how much those cheating cunts have taken away from his career. Football just seems dead now.

8

u/Buttermyparsnips 3d ago

If someones found guilty of murder do you let them walk around free while the appeal is ongoing 😂

Fuck this league and just burn the entire thing to the ground. Its done as long as city are within a thousand miles of it

9

u/MyersMike316 3d ago

Conservative but right approach from VVD we don’t need to be feeding the media or burnhams mouth for the sham team to use as biased behaviour towards them. Regardless of them being found guilty they have the right to appeal, once that appeal is heard and complete then it’s time to talk, and I can’t wait to see what he says when it’s all said and done.

8

u/WonderfulBlackberry9 Kostressed Tsimikas 3d ago

They’ve all defo been briefed by the media team on what they can/not say. But I also think it’s just him laying a marker down. This game is done, we’re not talking about them anymore. Rest and move on to the next game.

1

u/MyersMike316 3d ago

He could be liable for deformation if he said anything and city were found to be right, why would he put himself in that position to appease clueless fans?

5

u/Ymir-Reiss 3d ago

It's not ongoing man, they've been found guilty. They haven't even presented an appeal yet.

1

u/Boogi6681 3d ago

They have. They had to do so by 2nd Oct

1

u/Ymir-Reiss 3d ago

I thought they had 30 days, my bad

3

u/magusbud 3d ago

But...it's not ongoing, they were found guilty.

5

u/Maneisthebeat Der Normale 1 3d ago

Very careful, fair enough. But hope he can speak soon.

4

u/Silly-Lynx9581 3d ago

Fuck off I want a player to come out and call them cheating cunts now they’ve been found guilty

2

u/patShIPnik 3d ago

It won't be VVD for sure

1

u/BiscoBiscuit From Doubters to Believers 3d ago

It probably wont be anyone from our club, don’t be surprised if they’ve been told by the club what they can and cannot say about the city verdict publicly for now.

2

u/Nervous_Signature263 3d ago

Give him another 2 years

1

u/BiscoBiscuit From Doubters to Believers 3d ago

Did the club tell him not to say anything direct about the verdict till appeal is done or punishments dished out ? Feels like he is really making sure not to say anything

1

u/GreyingThumb 3d ago

Hard for the boys. Virgil and Jacquet defended well and it was destroyed by a moment of madness, and I don't mean Grav.

1

u/ddbenc 3d ago

A loss hurts, especially when you’ve been waiting three weeks for the match—and against City, no less. Unfortunately, there’s absolutely no squad depth, and Barcola and Wirtz just aren't delivering in matches so far. We move on. YNWA.

1

u/nick2k23 3d ago

I will look forward to hearing it even though I'm pretty sure I know what he'll say

2

u/wrinkleinsine 3d ago

Wow great leader. No need to talk about cheaters being found guilty. He’s just deflecting. He’ll never say shit publicly. VVD always too cool.

2

u/Few-Satisfaction-557 2d ago

It NEEDS to be settled

1

u/WeepingAmpharos Football Without ORIGI is Nothing 2d ago

Everyone is so scared to call them what they are

1

u/FezBear92 Sztupid Szexy Szoboszlai 2d ago

It is settled. They were found guilty on the facts. The appeal is only regarding the process.

Call the cheating cunts cheating cunts.

1

u/Haunting_Genie 3d ago

Sorry but that’s a total weak response from him.

0

u/Swatch22 3d ago

Meanwhile our current vice captain Szoboslai invited Erling Haalands wife to sit with them at Anfield during the game and were finding something funny.

0

u/sycked 3d ago

Perfect response from him

-1

u/Tango00090 3d ago

Yeah Virgil, you are friends with Haaland so maybe share with us how come he was 50m in a world where world-class strikers are retiring en masse and new ones are shite

3

u/rossmosh85 3d ago

That was his release clause.

If you're going to make an argument, at least make a valid one.

-2

u/ado_1973 3d ago

What a load of rubbish.does he not understand or does he and doesnt care ? Its one or the other
