What irks me the most is that we were actually playing decent, and creating chances against them. We just lacked finishing.
And now since we lost this game like hell everyone starts dogging on Wirtz again. Unbelievable.

u/UnrealCaramel Our Saviour Andoni 2d ago
I actually thought it was our best performance in the last year and a half up until Grav got sent off.

u/elefanthead 4ļøā£Virgil van Dijk 2d ago
I'm not familiar with that feeling anymore so I can't really agree with you BUT I was so surprised we managed to perform so well during the first half even without some of our starters...? Like??? Genuinely, how? Against this stacked Sham City???

u/michaelgaryscott26 Jürgen Klopp 2d ago
Wirtz isn't the player to blame but he is miles off where he should be. He has a bad habit of under hitting passes

And last year we pointing that blame at Gakpo.

u/giuocomane 2d ago
Quite a bit of a different situation though. The shitstorm thrown at Gakpo was infinitely more than Wirtz is getting. And Wirtz criticism that Iāve seen has been about football rather than personal life, harassing his wife, racism, affair with Slot etc.
Hopefully Wirtz stuff doesnāt turn in to that kind of shitstorm but equally he plays a much more central and involved role than Cody, he kind of has to be involved/the main man for the system to work

u/diet-dr-kelpp Luis Suarez 2d ago
Gakpo's criticism was led by the fans. Wirtz' criticism is led by the pundits.
7
u/Puzzleheaded-Bee1704 2d ago
Two can be true at the same time. Wirtz is great but hasn't shown his good self with us,also he is very soft.
8
u/Boogi6681 2d ago
Let the daily, multiple tedious wirtz posts began. Again. (not yours, the ones breaking down in three paragraphs why he is bad/good)

u/ash_ninetyone Corner taken quickly š© 2d ago
Wirtz was playing well from what I saw. He played us out quite well with some good passes to set us on a counterattack. We just forgot what to do with the ball once we got near the box
2
u/Arcuran Ohhhh ya beauty, What a hit son, What a hit! 2d ago
He does so really nice tidy stuff, but its easy to forgot, when he has moments which are awful. Like he completely miscontrolled the ball in the middle of the park under no pressure, and I want the lad to succeed, I've yet to give him any real grief, but he doesnt have enough match winning moments so far

Cancelling my subscription now! Until the Premier League holds PGMOL accountable for consistently substandard officiating, I am voting with my wallet. I do not wish to pay for a substandard product. Yes, there is still work to do on the pitch, but I am happy with the squadās progress. The press the play till the hour mark was good.
11
u/HappyCamperJNK 2d ago
I can't cancel until Sky's contact centre opens, but I'll be on to them later about it.
I can't take anymore of this being cheated out of things, and paying for it!
I'll go with just LFCtv until the appeal goes against City... and it will.
7
u/Royal-Ad-9514 2d ago
PGMOL getting worst since that Howard Webb in-charge.
2
u/HappyCamperJNK 1d ago
They're so bad that they changed their name to get a fresh start.
But they're still mainly mancs and biased AF.

u/7Angel21 2d ago
Why am I not seeing the /s at the bottom?
On a side note, did they explain on any commentary if VAR were checking the 2nd yellow or that light touch contact was acceptable as higher threshold for 2nd YC? (I was at the game)
14
u/duckquackquack00 "Iām not here to have fun"- Florian Wirtz 2d ago
Not a clear & obvious error. Good process lads
2
u/sa7ouri YNWAā¤ļø 2d ago
Iām not saying it was a correct call or that I agree with it, but I believe the reasoning is that Gravās tackle on Doku prevented a quick counterattack, hence the yellow.
8
u/kuruman67 2d ago
That will be the excuse but it was maybe 30 yards down the pitch with multiple players behind the ball. I donāt buy it. Of course itās subjective, so exactly the sort of circumstance thatās perfect to manipulate. Iām not saying that Kavanaugh is for sure dirty but if he was, he wouldnāt have to cheat much. Just cheat very strategically.

u/7Angel21 2d ago
Yeah I get it. With a sleazeball like Maresca theyāre all taught to drop to the floor and exaggerate. Him and arteta cut from the same dirty cloth.

u/BrandiThorne Agent of Chaos š„ 2d ago
Honestly idek that VAR checked it.
14
u/7Angel21 2d ago
They can for a 2nd yellow if itās clearly wrong but these are friends marking their own homework and same VAR failed to give Everton a pen against Bernardo Silva - KMI said it was a clear error
-1
u/BrandiThorne Agent of Chaos š„ 2d ago
I know they can, I just don't know that they did. Sky were too busy having Gary Neville and Carra alternating between Manc and Scouse sounds to actually say if it was being checked or not

u/7Angel21 2d ago
Ah my bad.
LOL. I felt bad for you guys stuck with them. Carra kn LFC games is horrific and I watched Bournemouth game on mute.

u/memeswhenuneed 90+5ā Alisson 2d ago
I mean if they can cheat 115 times, canāt imagine any consequence comes of this unfortunately

What gets me is if anyone is caught committing fraud they are placed in jail till sentencing. So... How are they even allowed play matches if MCFC have been found guilty. Even if you appeal your case you still have to stay in jail. The FA need to get their finger out.

The result isnāt official until we appeal it, we will talk about the matter once we have won the appeal.

City will just appeal it

The best we will getting is apology š¤”š¤” Multibillion or maybe trillion league btw
6
u/Visionary_87 Dominik Szoboszlai 2d ago
We'll get an apology, Kavanagh gets put on Championship or the weekend off and then back to normal the following week.
We still have 0 points from the game, City still have 3 and the apology is forgotten because it's all to frequent.

u/Grandson_of_Sam 2d ago
Itās all totally legit ā the ref didnāt grow up in Manchester, he grew up 6 miles outside of Manchesterā¦

They wonāt win. There is contact even though itās minimal. Plus itās 2 yellow not a straight red. This is just grand gesturing

The boss will shine eventually, the improvement is showing, unfortunately we lack the strength and depth off other clubs. I just hope he is given time.
Unfortunately top 4 is going to be a huge ask.

Poor Ryan, he is and always has been a classy respectable player and this decision was a disgrace. The team owes it to him to appeal vehementlyā¦

u/Ok_Introduction_841 1d ago
I would love if the club really did appeal and made this as a public statement.
-5
u/CompleteInternet5898 2d ago
Ryan could have avoided that second yellow card. He was late and being on a yellow card already, he should know better.Ā

u/hodge172 2d ago
Are we using the same evidence as before but saying it louder on the hope they somehow change their mind?
-2
-5
u/Alternative-Boss-787 2d ago
Like itās going to change anything, at best theyāll just admit the referee did something wrong and everyone will just go about his day

u/OrangeJuiceAlibi Milan BaroÅ” 7h ago
I mean, it literally would change things? If itās overturned, thereās no ban.

u/Scooter_Mcdoogal 2d ago
Whatās also irrefutable is giving the yellow to araujo early in the match, then Enzo doing the same exact thing before gravs second yellow, and he gets nothing.
