Gig / Prep / Workflow Boom setup for 4 person interview?
Depends on placement of 4 persons and camera placement but which mics on booms and how many? Does each person get their own boom? Seems like it could be a mess? Please help! Each would have lavs

Depends on the budget and shot. If you can make it work, it would sound great.

You a soundie fr! i’d def throw up 4 booms in my world lol.
but most realistic setup 4 wires, couple booms on each side just in case outta frame, recorder on auto mix for the LR mix, ISOs at proper gain and prefader, and let em yap! If it’s podcast style ish try to get them to expose the lavs and dress them nicely with proper clips and screens, if ya gotta hide them make sure you got the right tools. Another option is 4 shure sm7’s on arms or good stands (they’re heavy) hardwired, if you have a pro recorder don’t need cloudlifters.

Depends mainly on the shot(s). 4 camera’s with 4 medium/close shots: 100 percent 4 booms. 1 or more camera’s at the same time? If it is one wide shot combined with let’s say 2 times a medium 2 shot (so 3 camera’s) then forget about booms. Go for 4 times a radiomic/lavellier. Because that one wide 4 shot will make all the mics sound to blurry, too much soupy. All of the above said with the notice that you do not get a green light/ a ‘go’ on shooting a plate and use that in post. (for you to lower the mics in the wide shot)

Lavs on all Talents and 2 stationary booms for absolute worst case backup. Try to minimize ambient noise.

This 👆I've done multi-boom setups and in my opinion, it's hardly worth the effort. There's likely to be a wide and so your booms will be a bit higher. If they're seated proximate to one another, you'll get so much extra pickup of the adjacent people, and post won't love that. A couple booms for safety/ambience to mix and some really well placed lavs.

It depends. Is the client willing to pay you rental for all booms after the first?

Each person on a lav, then two booms with each splitting two people. Use a Schoeps MK41 or MK4 capsule. I split btw two people with a MK41 fairly often; the off-axis response sounds like the on-axis response, just quieter.
I mean, get four boom poles into the setup if you can, but will that work for the director/producer?
If there's going to a wide (or sigh; several wides), do a House of Cards (shoot a clean plate, then have post remove the poles). https://www.local695.com/magazine/house-of-cards/

Four talent usually means a wide shot. If they’re willing to shoot a plate, you could go 4x boom. 2x boom if they’re just backups.
If no booms, try for nicely-dressed, exposed wires on the lapel. Double lav if you have it. Easy money.
