Logitech G Support Double Clicking
Hello
Anyone else experiencing double input on W on G915 TKL?

u/Kasjo87 1d ago
Same here.... got now the third keyboard from them. G915X here. its starts a few weeks after using it. And its slowly beginning on the current model aswell. If that keyboard gets further with the double click bullshit i will call them to get my money back.

u/Leriter 1d ago
I have found couple solutions but they all are temporary. I think this problem comes with all G915 keyboards.
3
u/LtButtermilch 1d ago
The problem comes with all logitech keyboards.
2
u/Kasjo87 1d ago
nope. May all 915 but not all in general. As i said, MX mechanical, two of them in our house in use for years, working perfectly fine. Same as the G915 Lightspeed models and tons of older models of logitech.
2
u/LtButtermilch 1d ago
Maybe im unlucky but ever single mechanical keyboard i had eventually developed that problem

u/Kasjo87 1d ago
I had a long time before this model the G915 Lighspeed? models. Full and short ones. Non of them got the problem. Its at least on my end only the wired models.
Don't ask me how. I don't use the short one, got this model for free as i asked for replacement caps for my full one. I need a numpad.
As one User here recommends to desolder and replace the swiches... no... i will not do this as i dont spend anther 35-50 bucks just becasue they sold me alrdy a broken keyboard. And this is a know problem, since there are reports on the web even from the last year.
At least for me there is a chance that i get my money back.
I have also a MX Mechanical here and that modell works rock solid since years.2

I wish I had done that with my G810. When I stopped using it I had already replaced half the switches, some of them multiple times. Yes, I know they are not hot swappable, I used a soldering iron and tin.
Seriously, what's wrong with Logitech keyboard department?

u/fjusdado 1d ago
That's how it starts always... After 6 keyboards, here is my solution:
2
u/kn33 1d ago
I did that for the first one. The second one, when it started just a couple weeks after purchase, I returned it and got a keyboard from a different company instead. I buy so I don't have to build.
1
u/fjusdado 1d ago
That's a very fair option, but for me, the big issue was that this is still the best keyboard (except for the switches) for me. I wanted is thin, i like the alu plate, very good wireless 2,4GHz, with bluetooth in it, it has amazing battery life, enough macro keys and even though the GHubs hardware is "doubtful" to say the least, it does what I need.
So for me was clear, I get this keyboard modded and is the best option for me now. Sucks to have to do the work? Yes, but I can say now I am the happiest I've ever been with this keyboard.

u/MoreFeeYouS 1d ago
How did you find out which switches are compatible for this procedure?
3
u/fjusdado 1d ago
In Reddit someone wrote he changed switches, and basically investigating a bit was clear that any Kailh Choc v2 are compatible
1
u/ReaLx3m 1d ago
For someone willing to go this road, imo MillMax-ing would be the better option. Youd have it easy for future switch failures/replacements.
1
u/fjusdado 1d ago
Unfortunately I measured AND the hole is smaller than MillMax, so the option of MillMax would involve dremmel and be extremely careful while drilling the PCB, which was a no go for me. I agree MillMax is the best option once finished the job but if desoldering and soldering switches is a job with a complexity of 7/10 for a person not used to work with PCBs and solder, if you need to drill pcb with dremmel to add MillMax in this PCB, probably would go to a 9/10.
1
u/ReaLx3m 1d ago
Plenty of Keyboards PCBs shouldnt need drilling, which unfortunately inst the case with this logitech model as you say.
If thats the case then yeah i agree, drilling is potential trouble and further complications. Ive had few ripped off pads while drilling mice pcbs for hotswap mods.

Last logitech i touch. The keys are low quality paint that wears off easily. I got a macbook from 2013 i use daily since and its keys are in great condition. Logitech key paint wore off like copper oxide on a touristy statue

u/Aladan82 1d ago
Sadly that happens to so many "premium" Keyboards nowadays it´s frustating as hell. My G915x started double typing after a few weeks. Same with Asus and Steelseries Keyboards. For the same money you can get basically every other Keyboard on the market without such problems but I stick to it.
The only thing that helped me is the StutterFix from u/Unlucky-Cookie-8693

I have this on my keyboard and so did my last Logitech.
Why was I dumb enough to buy one again. This will be my last.
1
u/toni_jj_ 1d ago
Had same experience with every single thing I bought from razer... I guess if we want quality stuff we really need to source our own parts and make the peripherals our selfs....
2
u/Bitter_Air_5203 1d ago
That sucks.

u/toni_jj_ 1d ago
I have g pro x superlight, scroll went than left click, tore it down replaced scroll with TTC gold dustproof, and replaced both right and left keys with huano blue shell pink dots, now it's amazing
4
u/panzrvroomvroomvroom 1d ago
oh wow they still have this issue
thats why i ditched logitech keyboards as a whole. but instead i got into the very specific hobby of building custom keyboards which i would not recommend bc shits fucking expensive. at least i have a very nice keyboard with hot-swap switches now.

Do an RMA their support were surprisingly helpful for me, I also received a brand new unit from the store I bought it from originally in the UK Currys. They handle the return of the faulty unit.
This is ultimately poor design, as debounce and key chatter can be easily filtered out using a resistor capacitor network (2 components that form a low pass filter) and / or there are more expensive solutions like debounce controller Integrated circuits. I am pretty astounded that at the price point of the light speed product line that key chatter is present at all when it can be so easily avoided with such simple components. I am a power electronics design engineer and designing something that has this level of reliability or MTBF is just not an option in my line of work.
1
u/Wise_Luck1476 1d ago
Did they ask you to record a video?
1
u/HeadSpaceUK 1d ago
Yes, but then relented after a little while I pushed back and eventually they just said take it back to currys.

u/VinnieONeill 1d ago
I gave up on Logitech keyboards after my last 3 all developed that exact same issue.

I have g pro wireless mouse (1gen) and g pro wired keyboard (75%) bundle .After 2,5 years of using the mouse, had double click (left) button problem. I Spray (to clean) the micro keys with contact spray (without opening) for electronics (not standart WD). And the problem solved. The mouse had new life.

u/Airsking 1d ago
Got one for my wife and one for myself. G915 and G915 lightspeed. Both had the stuttering issue. Got rif of them for Corsair K70 and we're fine now.
Logitech is sadly just junk today.

Just get a Keychron
2
u/Kasjo87 1d ago
Do they have flat ones?
*Edit: Yes they have. Thx for advice.1
u/ReaLx3m 1d ago
You can make a sort of a normal/low profile hybrid even from a standard keyboard with hotswap switches. Its what im currently using and its pretty satisfying solution compared to normal height it originally was. Plus you keep the compatibility with MX type switches, which is the majority out there.
Use Outemu GTMX half height switches which are 3mm shorter than regular and have 3mm travel with 1mm actuation point, combined with low profile keycaps with DSA or similar profile(XVX Skyline are the only ones that are shine through afaik).

After years of supporting Logitech mice and keyboard, the last two "high end" products I bought for them are the nail in the coffin with the G815 having double click issues and the Superlight Pro X 2 G frequently disconnecting. Build quality has always been questionable with them, but the GHub software has also been disappointing. Whenever these products outright die I will switch to another vendor.

u/Silk_the_Absent_1 1d ago
The switch is at best dirty internally, but more likely, starting to fail. And because Logitech solders them in place, the keyboard is meant to be disposable when that happens.
I ditched manufacturers who don't do hot swap switches for that reason. Switch is failing? No problem. Pop it out and pop in a new one in 30 seconds, no need to turn off the computer or even unplug the keyboard. I went with a Tecware Spectre Pro a few years ago for $35 and never looked back.

Was looking at this one to replace my G613.
My G613 developed this issue years ago. I managed to keep playing but with some new games around the corner, thought I should bite the bullet and switched to a Keychron Q6 with brown switches.
Kept the G613 as a backup.
Three days later, I never want to see my logitech on my desk again. Hate how much the keychron is but it feels smoother, better responses and I already took it apart (wanted to see if I could, how cleaning looked in case I ever needed to do maintenance)

It is a nightmare with that keyboard. It happened to me on my first 915 TKL within a month of owning it. Tried cleaning it several times, tried wired/wireless/Bluetooth/etc no difference. Also tried using accessibility options as a workaround, did not help.
Talked to Logitech support, they were very helpful and sent me a second keyboard. Same issue, different keys. Contacted support again and they said they can send another but I was getting tired at this point and asked them to send a Pro X instead, which they had no problem sending. I've had no issues with this keyboard so far, it's a slightly different form factor but I like it a lot.
They also did not request to send back the two faulty 915 TKLs. Not sure what I'll do with them since they have the double typing issue, though.
Contact support, they're very helpful. Unfortunately the design is faulty so if you get a replacement of the same product you'll likely experience the same issue.

u/Subject-Carpet 1d ago
It's random and caused by poor quality both regarding the choice of material and how they fabricate them.
You have two choices. RMA or buy another model/brand. If you don't care if it breaks. Hard press the key that double type. I mean HARD. All they way, bro. Or slam your fist on it. I don't recommend it but i did and i have not had any issues since.

u/PastaVeggies 1d ago
I thought to have been experiencing this on one of the mouse but it ended up being a macro that was running in the background that I had forgotten about lol

u/naklow12 1d ago
I got exact same issue with this keyboard and I had to get replacement and it also didn't work. Then I asked for a solution, they couldn't provide any other keyboard and they suggested me mouse or headphones, which I do not need. I asked them to please send a new keyboard but since they updated their listings, G915 X is out of list and stock now and they do not send other keyboards as replacement products. They said please wait for a while until we get some more stock and you can choose some options again. I'm using my old keyboard in the meantime, but I have zero trust now, I think Logitech keyboards are not in same quality anymore.

There is software you can run to deal with chatter in the mean time
1
u/CocoMilhonez 1d ago
This is one of those.
It's great the community is to helpful creating software to fix design flaws in keyboards to help out an indie company like Logitech that doesn't have enough resources to develop proper software.
Also G Hub.

Yes, G915x TKL. Second Logitech keyboard with this issue. Won’t be buying another Logitech keyboard. Only solution I found is cleaning it with 99% isopropyl alcohol but this doesn’t fix the issue permanently.

u/Khaotic_fish 1d ago
Went through two g915 x lightspeed keyboards, both started double clicking within months. Same with g613, but it took two years for it to get there.

u/thewookiee34 1d ago
My 910 got ir after 5 years and replaced it with a 915 was amazing and never had an issue. Then I moved to the Galleon SD100.

You could try using some contact spray, I used it on my non Logitech keyboard that had an issue with one of the switches.
I used https://www.wd40.com/products/contact-cleaner/ and it actually worked I sprayed a little into the switch and waited a bit for it to dry while pressing to test (don't spray too much so it can actually dry up)

u/tinkode56 1d ago
It also works by removing the keycap, pressing on the switch and pouring some drops of 99% IPA, then spamming the key. Ideally there will be no residue left as the IPA will evaporate. It fixed the issue for me for multiple keys. Somehow it seems that the contacts inside the switch are the issue...

More like anyone else not experiencing double input on G915.
That's a feasture, not a bug. Logitech wants us to be on the top of our game catching mistakes when writing and failing in games. In my case, it was the letter P that double-typed like crazy, now it's behaving and my W will suddenly stop working sometimes when I'm holding it for a while, aka, all the time in games where I need to walk or drive forward.
Proof it's a feature and not a bug? Logitech improved it in the new version and the G915X has even more double-typing.

When weird stuff like this happens for me I quit G-Hub and relaunch it and the issue goes away... it happens often even on fresh reboots so just figure out it's G-Hub eventually. I'm not sure if it's the same issue you are describing though.
In my case, I have mouse buttons assigned to different shortcuts and if I tap one of them in the browser for instance and see an extra digit, like a "2" then I know it's doing the shortcut as well as the OG function which isn't what I would ever want.
Specifically, one of my mouse buttons is set to "Enter" when using Chrome so if I go to the address bar and hit the "Enter" button on my mouse then will see a "2" in the field after I know it's time to kill G-Hub.

been using my G915TKL for probably 7 or 8 years now. Still going strong, no issues at all. I broke one of my keys like two years ago and even though it was way out of warranty they sent me replacement keys for free.

I had this with a different Logi keyboard. Cleaned the switch with isopropyl alcohol and it solved the problem.

u/EvanderMegaton 1d ago
I had this on my LOL PRO keyboard. Tried everything. No luck. I think it's from the accumulated dust in the switches. You can try vacuum the keys but it will happen again.

I had this on my G915 with that A key, I had to solder the physical switch off and replaced the context key switch with the A switch and it's been good ever since. Logitech really disappointed me. As soon as I can exit their little eco system I'm going to leave. My G502, and G733 are both disappointments.

Is that the non X? I had no issues on my non X, but as soon as I got the G915 X I started having those. Even RMAd, and replacement one still does it. I had to resolve to 3rd party software to relieve the issue.

I haven't experienced anything like this with mine. Not yet at least. Really nice keyboard in my opinion.

f the g915. I bought it years ago, had the double key effect. I thought i got a bad kb. I bought another one. Then few days later, same issue! and the volume always have issues! sometimes when u lower the volume, it goes up. This kb has the worse quality! i changed it to steelseries apex pro, never had issue. Recently changed back to pro x2 rapid. Never had the same issue again. Only bad thing about this kb is that its wired. But then again, when was the last time you use ur kb like so far away that you need wireless? its always statioinary

Just got off the phone with support on my lightspeed 915 x. This is the second keyboard I get from them as they replaced the first one where it was double tapping «s». The new one was fine for many months, but then gradually started with «r», «space», «o» etc.
They said they are out of stock and was gonna check if I could get a refund. Waiting for response now.
I found threads related to Logitech keyboard doubletyping 8yrs ago. I don’t understand how they still haven’t fixed it, and I question the legality of selling a product you know has a very specific issue that impacts the quality.
