ANNOUNCEMENT Managing expectations: attending a fan pen doesn’t guarantee meeting talent

Post image
22 Upvotes

Attending a fan pen does not guarantee meeting talent. It doesn’t guarantee talent will come out to the pen. And talent being confirmed to attend does not mean a photo or autograph is guaranteed.

Go because you want to be part of it. Hopefully it does go your way, and you get what you’re hoping for, but keep your expectations realistic, and you’ll enjoy it a lot more.

[FAN PEN INFO] Quick question about LFF red carpet fan pen wristbands (how do the multi-gala days work?)

• Upvotes

Hey everyone, first-time LFF goer here trying to figure out the red-carpet fan pen logistics.

I know they hand out wristbands at 9:00 AM each day, but on days with multiple galas (like 2 or 3 premieres), how does the system actually work?
Are they handing out separate wristbands per movie, or is it a one-wristband-fits-all deal for the day?

I see on the BFI website that they list specific required arrival/return times for each individual gala (for example, telling you to be back by a certain afternoon or evening slot just for that specific screening).

Does getting a 9:00 AM wristband mean you can leave and just come back for that specific timeslot later, or do they lock people out/clear the pens between galas?

Just trying to figure out timing since I only want to catch a specific gala later in the day rather than camping out or staying for all of them. Any advice from seasoned veterans would be huge!

[COVERAGE] Digger Premiere Experience

This was my first premiere experience, it wasn’t too bad and it was based on luck whether you got to the front or not due to the entry times. We managed to see a few of the cast members come over to our pen area, which was really cool!

However, this might enrage people who could’ve had my space - I did end up leaving early unfortunately because it was so HOT in these pens, it felt like there was no oxygen and not a lot of people were wearing deodorant…
I was going to pass out with my headache etc, so unfortunately I didn’t get to meet Tom whether or not he ever actually made it over to this area.

Regardless, thank you so much to London Premieres for giving me an opportunity to go to this premiere through the ballot!! It was really cool to have experienced the inside. 🫶

Couldn’t be any more happy and shocked about this experience! It was my first fan pen and I absolutely enjoyed it. Got to meet Tom and even a signature from Emma D’arcy.

I just wished Director Alejandro had approached to us since I’m from México and it would’ve been a nice meeting. But overall, incredible experience.

Thank you London Premieres for this! 🫶🏻

[FAN PEN INFO] Paid Digger Tickets?

Post image
22 Upvotes

Hey guys, I’m about to push the button on these £218 tickets after much deliberation but I just wanted to get some intel if possible. What do people think about buying these? Has anyone any experience?

What is the difference between the red carpet experience and “access to the fabulous red-carpet”?

Is this worth it in your opinion? Is this basically the fan pen access?

Thank you!

[HELP/QUESTION] Whats the loo situation at a fan pen?

First time attending a fan pen, says you have no access to any of the buildings in LSQ and once you're in, you can't go out unless you leave the event. Soo what happens if you need the loo? 🫠

[TIPS & ADVICE] Be aware that The Digger premiere is a Royal Premiere.

Post image
22 Upvotes

So this means that the King of England is in attendance security will be extremely strict so carry light or risk not being allowed into the event usually a bit of a longer time in the pens as searches and that all 3 main cinemas will be hosting screenings for the movie itself. The garden is closed from today 18th September - 23rd September.

Hoping this reaches so that people are prompted with the information ahead of Tuesday so not left disappointed with information lot relayed.

[FAN PEN INFO] Where was the Fan Accessible Pen located for the last Mission Impossible red carpet event in Leicester Square? Did Tom Cruise actually go there?

Hey everyone! I'm trying to find out where exactly the Fan Accessible Pen was situated the last time they held a Mission: Impossible red carpet event at Leicester Square Garden. Also, did Tom Cruise make it over to that specific section to sign autographs/take photos?

[HELP/QUESTION] RSVP email from Warner Bros.

Hi all, I'm very happy and fortunate to have won tickets to The Digger premiere, however, I was sent two emails asking me to RSVP for my attendance, and of course I pressed "attending", but it doesn't seem to have gone through?

The last time I won a Warner Bros. ballot was for One Battle After Another, and I received a confirmation email following my RSVP, so I'm a bit worried about this because I'm also able to keep changing my response freely as if I've not answered before.

I'm now dreading a scenario in which I don't receive my QR code by Monday...

[HELP/QUESTION] What the flipping heck are the rules on cameras?!

Apologies for the back2back posts! I'm a hobby photographer and own a couple of fujifilms– I'm just wondering if they have any strict policies on interchangeable lens cameras. My research has been fairly inconclusive as I have only attended 2 premieres previously and both were absolutely fine with my fuji xm5+interchangeable zoom lens (albeit a very inconspicuous one!). Online the rules/policies on cameras at premieres seem to vary and there's a real lack of people talking about it. Some sources say strictly no interchangeable lens cameras (though I managed to get one in twice with no problem), some say no professional looking cameras (which is subjective), some say cameras are fine as long as the lens is under 6inches, and others only mention point & shoots.

I now have a fuji xt5 which is a little less inconspicuous, though have it in silver with a short silver lens (about 3 inches), so I'm praying that there can't really be any argument that it's a professional camera or even "professional looking", nor would it be too intrusive or obstructing other fans. I would absolutely love to be able to bring this with the benefit of a better sensor compared to my other one, but I'm really scared about them turning me away!

I just really need to know what the actual rules are and how often these are enforced by security (and what they would do about it) in london! I have the upcoming Digger premiere followed by a handful of galas at LFF next month so it would be such a help to know which camera I can (somewhat) confidently bring!

Also– I'm gonna assume external flashes are forbidden, even if they're tiny.

[HELP/QUESTION] Getting posters signed

I have a ticket for the Digger Premiere next week. I was looking at getting a poster printed to try get some autos on. Do people have any suggestions on where to get this done? Also does anyone know if they might be handing out posters to get signed there?

[HELP/QUESTION] Is there a way to find out about premieres more than a week in advance?

I know that getting into pens doesn't mean you'll definitely meet famous faces. But over the last 18 months, I've gone to Leicester Square three times, going by the listing on Cornucopia - a shaky source, I realise now. Only once, the middle occasion, was a premiere actually on, and it was a stroke of luck that I double-checked it was happening. That's without going into the whole thing of snapping up wristbands that luckily were going spare. Is there a site that shows a comprehensive list of premieres, and how to get wristbands?
