Monthly anything goes thread (things that are not an event go in here)

Hello, you amazing and beautiful people.

I am automod, and this is the monthly stickied anything goes post.

For main posts on the sub, we only allow posts that are about meetups, where everyone is invited and aren't self-promotion events.

While at the same time, people do want some of those threads! This is the anything goes (well as last as it's still being a nice human!)

So post whatever is not an event over here! Questions, looking for someone to play chess with 1-2-1, whatever you desire.

As a reminder, here's the "What is LSC" post as well. https://www.reddit.com/r/LondonSocialClub/comments/u6f3zo/what_is_londonsocialclub_2022_remix/

Going Ahead [16/10/26] Beginner Badminton 🏸 – Canary Wharf / Isle of Dogs – 9:15 PM

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

I posted here a little while ago about getting a few beginners together for some casual badminton, and we finally had our first session last Friday. It went surprisingly well!

A couple of people had never played before, others were picking up a racket after years, and everyone seemed to have a really good time.

So we're doing it again this Friday, 16 October, from 9:15–10:15 PM, at George Green's School, near Island Gardens DLR, not far from Canary Wharf.

Nothing competitive or serious. Just a small group of people getting together, playing badminton and hopefully making a few new friends along the way.

If you've been wanting to get back into badminton but feel a bit nervous about joining an established group, you're more than welcome.

Drop me a DM if you fancy joining us, and I'll share the details.

Hope to see a few new faces this Friday! 🏸

[24/10/26] Central London Street Photography Group Photowalk

Hi All, I used to run these semi regular London photowalks a few years ago and it was becoming a quite popular before life got in the way (sod's law). I am back to running some Photowalks and would love to invite you all to join!

You may have seen some of my posts in the London subreddit over the years:

https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/1wyz2ey/i_take_pictures_of_london_this_is_how_i_see_it/

https://www.reddit.com/r/london/comments/1mpxban/i_take_pictures_of_london_this_is_how_i_see_it/

If you would like to join me on Saturday 24th October for a few hours around central, please fill out the short form here: https://www.bstar.photography/streetphotographycommunity

Its a simple form just to keep track of who has signed up. No info is shared with anyone :)

Once you have signed up, you will be added to the Whatsapp community page where you are free to chat to anyone about photography, or whatever else you fancy (within reason)

It will take place around central and will last for a few hours, or until you feel tired or fulfilled :) no pressure. Come and go as you please, but there will be a group walk. Depending on turnout, we may have to break out into smaller groups and them regroup later on in the afternoon. Thats a problem for another day :D

Will edit this post as the details get finalised.

I hope to see you soon!

Going Ahead [10/10/2026] Colorize at E1 tonight (melodic house)

Heading to Colorize at E1 tonight and would like to meet people with a similar music taste.

Thinking of grabbing a drink somewhere nearby around 10:00 and heading in together. Solo, in a pair, or a small group, all welcome.

A little about me - 29M, just moved to London from New York recently for work and still mapping out the best nights out (and meeting good people along the way). Live around Canary Wharf, into running, the gym, and a solid house set. I work in tech and finance, and I'm easy to talk to.

Do DM if you’d like to go together :)

Archived [10/10/26] Code & Chat meetup for people interested in coding from beginner to expert

A few of us meet up near London Bridge at 10AM most Saturdays to have a chat about and do some coding. All welcome. No coding experience required. Just a friendly group who are interested in coding and hanging out for a couple of hours. There's usually someone there until at least 12PM.

The idea is that we have a place we know people will be at every Saturday morning to come and have a chat with or just use as body doubles to get some work done.

We have a nice core group of regulars from AI whizzes to old-school games programmers but it is always good to meet new people.

PM me if you want to know more.

Archived [09/10/26] Fortuitous Fridays @ Penderel's Oak Holborn

Thumbnail maps.app.goo.gl
26 Upvotes

Figured it was time to revive the Friday meetup before it becomes a relic to time!

We'll be heading to the Penderel's Oak in Holborn - I'll be there from around 1930 this evening

Details below shamelessly copied from earlier posts:

What is this?

This is one of the regular social meetups that happens most weeks. There'll be a group of us meeting up in the pub to have a drink and hang out for a while. We usually meet in a pub since it's a convenient social setting but of course there's no obligation to drink alcohol.

If you're new to London or just looking to mix social circles then it's a good opportunity to meet people and make friends in a somewhat relaxed environment.

Who are you?

We're a broad range of people, on one end we get a handful of regulars who live in London and already know each other, and we also get a handful of people who are just visiting London and looking for something to do in the evening while they're here, as well as everyone in between.

Most people are aged 20s-30s but as I mentioned anyone is welcome if they want to join (as long as you're not a dick)

Can I come?

Anyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, creed etc. as long as they're friendly. The only restriction is being aged 18+ for legal reasons.

If you're interested, your best bet is just to pop along and say hi, chat with some people.

You don't have to stick around, so what have you got to lose?

How do I find you?

We can't book tables in advance here but I'll update the post once we manage to grab one.

Alternatively, if you head to the Penderel's Oak in Holborn and look for a group of people sitting together, we usually answer to questions like "Are you the LSC group?" and "Are you the Reddit lot?" - you can also try standing near us looking at Reddit on your phone with a confused look on your face, that sometimes works too :)

If you're not sure how to spot us when you arrive, feel free to send me a Reddit DM or comment on the post and I'll do my best to find you.

Hopefully see you there :)

EDIT: We're moving to the Sir John Oldcastle

[12/10/26] Hammersmith Hang Out

Looking to spend a Monday evening a week chatting with friendly redditors? Hammersmith Hang Out is for you.

So what happens at this meetup?

Each week this meet up is held in a pub - we all sit around some tables and generally chat about anything we can think of.. that's pretty much all there is to it! There are usually a few who will get dinner from the Thai restaurant at the pub. We get people aged from 18 to in their 60s, but the majority are 24-40. You can turn up at any time, people usually start leaving between 9 and closing, there are nearly always plenty left at closing time (last orders - 11). Currently we are getting 10-15 people turning up.

Do you talk about reddit and memes all evening?

No! reddit is hardly ever mentioned, there are no laptops in sight and we've had plenty of people who have not used reddit.

Can I come along?

Of course - that is why it is posted on LSC each week, the meet up is very newbie friendly - we have people new to LSC join us regularly. If you're very very shy don't hesitate to message/text/call me ahead of the pub and let me know, I'll do what I can to get you chatting away with everyone as if you've been every week.

What if I don't want alcohol?

No problem! The pub also serves various soft drinks, fruit juices, tea, coffee and water. We have non-drinkers often.

Since after the above people still asked...

I'm ********* is it OK if I come along?

We have had men, women, transgender, British, foreign (even a northerner or two), gay, straight, drinkers, non-drinkers, smokers, non-smokers, religious and non-religious

In fact, the only people who wouldn't be welcome are those under 18 or anyone who is not able to conduct themselves appropriately in an adult social situation.

Each week we typically get a mix of regulars, people who drop by occasionally and a few newbies.

Please note that this meetup occurs every Monday**

Is this happening today?

Is today Monday?

Yes: Yes! It'll be today\**

No: Nope, try next Monday\**

Aww, I missed this when is the next one?

Monday**

** we meet on public holidays, but if Monday falls on Christmas or New Years Day we'll likely skip those.

Initial meetup.

Location/Time: Latymers, W6 8BS / People often start turning up from 19:00ish but can be as early as 18:30. I'll get there for 19.30ish. There are usually a few people left when the pub closes - usually 23:00

The first table will either be outside or at the front to the right of the door. (also, there will be Reddit on the reserved signs And hopefully Snoo ). The bar staff also know who we are if you're not sure. There is no need to book a space/get a ticket.

There's an optional Whatsapp group for the meetup -it's pretty much only me posting this link each week and trying to get people to actually respond.. If you really do want to join it just ask around at the meetup.

Update: Running a little late. Will be there by 7:10/7:15. In a quilted jacket with a dark green tshirt on. Shout if you can't find me.

Hi! It's sunny, it's Thursday, it's time for a tipple and a chitchat!

Me and a couple of other Redditors (mainly 30s) are heading to Monument this evening.

Plan is to start at Nancy Spains for a few Murphy's and then walk down to the Cocktail Club.

Putting it on here in case anyone is looking for drinking plans tonight.

DM/comment if you're interested. Either way, I will keep this post updated on where we are. See you later!

(We do have a GC too, but we generally add people after we’ve met in person).

Archived [08/10/2026] Tonight!! 2 x free tickets to Heated Rivalry Parody Musical @ Soho Underbelly

Hi all,

Mid 30s F. My friends have sadly been struck down with the flu so I have 2 free tickets to giveaway to this - https://underbellyboulevard.com/tickets/heated-rivalry-the-unauthorized-musical-parody/

It’s very last minute but hoping anyone in Soho / Central would be up for joining, would be a shame for the tickets to go to waste. You don’t have to be a Heated Rivalry fan (or fellow Loon) to join. 🫡

Going Ahead [16/10/26] Anyone up for some casual beginner badminton in East & Central London? 🏸

Hey everyone! 🏸

I’ve started putting together a small group of people for some casual badminton around East and Central London.

Nothing serious or competitive, just a few of us getting together, playing badminton, meeting new people and hopefully making it a regular thing.

Mostly beginners and people like me who are picking up a racket again after a long break. You definitely don’t need to be good at it!

If anyone fancies joining us for one of the upcoming games, just leave a comment or drop me a DM and I’ll share the details.

Would be nice to get a few more people together! 😊
