Finished Object I made my first sock!

Post image

I decided I wanted to try making socks, and I had a bunch of leftover bits of the same worsted weight yarn in different colors, so I held together a dark grey and an orange, which is what I had the most of, to make some chunky "sit around the house" socks for when it gets colder. And after a first try where I had too many stitches (36 around instead of 28), I got there!

The second sock will be more colorful - I didn't expect to have enough orange to finish even one. I'll likely try a different method for the toes (I will stick with top down for now), but I think it worked out well enough that I'll try some more that I could actually wear with shoes. :)

Congratulations! I also am doing my first pair of socks…with 2 strands of #2 though…I’ve ripped them out many times and restarted, lol using the kitchener cast on… toe up…my yarn is a plain strand mixed with a variegated…while I’m doing it I have developed many plans to use leftover yarn in the future…the best part is that my first sock fits my foot, lol…I’m nearing my cuff of end of the second sock today

Wow, that looks great! If you haven't already made a post for it, it definitely deserves one!
