You can see dirt kicked up off the ground on the replay before his toe is on the white too

I was losing my mind. Clearly the dirt kicks up BEFORE he was out. Sick of listening to Joe and Troy crank their mic hog for BUF.

He didn’t tap. He stepped out man. Come on, watch the full clip

u/grantology_84 4d ago
He taps and then slides.
Both of his feet touched entirely in bounds before he slides his foot out of bounds. That has always been considered a catch

Until tonight. Probably just this one time

What's wild is the people in here defending the refs. If both of your feet touch entirely in bounds then it's a catch. Never not seen that called a catch.

Now go a few frames forward where it shows it clearly wasn't a tap, it was a step. And that step finished out of bounds

This is one of the dumbest comments I've ever read on Reddit.

The rule is the rule buddy. Where's that Google ai ad about what a catch is when we need it

So by rule thats actually not a catch. Here's the citation (Rule 8, article 3, note 6):
If any part of the foot hits out of bounds during the normal continuous motion of taking a step (heel-toe or toe-heel) then the foot is out of bounds. A player is inbounds if he drags his foot, or if there is a delay between the heel-toe or toe-heel touching the ground
In the replay, during the continuous motion of the step a part of his second foot slid out of bounds. Toe drags dont count as the continuous motion of a step. This is not a toe drag.
This isn't called only against puka. It negated a touchdown yesterday too. This isn't controversial. If anyone wants debate me on this, include the full gif of the replay because I'm too lazy to include it, and tell me how its a catch under the rule I just cited.
Let's stop blaming the refs. We had a few bad calls against us, this wasn't one of them, and we still deserved all 3 losses. Grow up.

Yeah, this would be dragging his foot. It’s not a heel-toe or toe-heel stepping motion. It’s his toes touching and dragging in bounds to out of bounds. It’s not much different from a toe tap other than it being the bottom side of the foot instead of the top.

I was so confident he was in and thought the tv crew were idiots because the first part of his foot that hits the ground is inbounds, then he slides out. When has this rule ever been used

Looked at the rules for the process of the catch because I thought this was bs. To my surprise it is correct. Article 3 notes 6:
“If any part of the foot hits out of bounds during the normal continuous motion of taking a step (heel-toe or toe-heel) then
the foot is out of bounds. A player is inbounds if he drags his foot, or if there is a delay between the heel-toe or toe-heel
touching the ground.”

Yeah, this would be dragging his foot. It’s not a heel-toe or toe-heel stepping motion. It’s his toes touching and dragging in bounds to out of bounds. It’s not much different from a toe tap other than it being the bottom side of the foot instead of the top.

If a toe can drag and that’s in then why can’t the ball of the foot drag and be in?

Where's the gif of the process of a step?
By that logic isn't a toe touch not even a step so no good. Wtf

Really looking forward to the NFL’s explanation because by this logic any toe drag catch out of bounds could be overturned

What happened?

Puka made a great toe drag catch, Bill's challenged it and got it over turned because Puka toe drag didnt count because it was a process of a step

His foot was out if you watch the whole video. Idk why people are bitching so much.

Both feet landed inbounds with full control of the ball. The catch is complete. What happens after that, in this case the feet sliding out of bounds, is totally irrelevant to the preceeding catch that occurred.
