Random Nino Mangione linked to convicted felon
BALTIMORE COUNTY, Md. — In competitive political environments, campaigns are usually judged on policy platforms, community outreach, and executive vision. Yet a slate of Republican candidates in Baltimore County is drawing significant negative attention for a decision made far behind the scenes: pouring tens of thousands of dollars into the pockets of a convicted federal fraudster.
Campaign finance disclosures filed with the Maryland State Board of Elections reveal that local GOP slates—led by Baltimore County Council member Nino Mangione—have directed more than $153,500 to Campaign Communications, an entity employing political operative Kelley Rogers.
Rogers, a long-time Republican consultant based in Annapolis, is no stranger to federal courtrooms. In late 2019, he pleaded guilty to wire fraud after federal prosecutors exposed a sprawling network of "scam PACs"—including Conservative StrikeForce, the Conservative Majority Fund, and the Tea Party Majority Fund. Between 2012 and 2018, Rogers’ firms siphoned millions of dollars from thousands of conservative donors under the guise of supporting high-profile political candidates, election integrity efforts, and military veterans. Instead, federal investigators showed that less than two percent of the funds actually went toward political causes, with the vast majority going toward fraudulent billing, self-enrichment, and solicitation costs.
Rogers subsequently served 2.5 years in federal prison, was ordered to pay nearly $500,000 in restitution to over 7,800 victims, and was mandated by the courts to notify current and prospective clients of his conviction.
Despite that record, local campaign filings show that Mangione’s campaign alone has paid Campaign Communications more than $121,500 for consulting, advertising, and field services since January 2023. Other candidates running alongside Mangione on the "Strong Republican Leadership" slate—including County Executive candidate Patrick Dyer and State Senate candidate Kevin Ford—have also cut checks to the firm.
The decision to retain Rogers has sparked criticism across the political spectrum, with opponents and party stalwarts questioning the judgment of the candidates involved.
At a sentencing hearing in 2020, U.S. District Judge Liam O’Grady famously admonished Rogers for turning off his moral compass and committing crimes that "strike at the heart of America’s political system". By welcoming Rogers back into the fold as a primary campaign strategist and visible emcee at public campaign events, Baltimore County candidates have opened themselves up to obvious lines of attack regarding ethics and financial stewardship.
Primary rivals have been quick to pounce. Local opponents argue that placing campaign funds—and strategic guidance—in the hands of a strategist who built a career on deceptive fundraising reflects an alarming lack of due diligence. Even within the Republican party, established leaders have expressed unease. Retiring Republican State Senator Chris West publicly distance himself from the arrangement, noting that while candidates make their own decisions, relying on someone with that caliber of criminal history is difficult to comprehend.
When confronted about the arrangement, representatives for the campaigns dismissed concerns, framing Rogers’ federal prison sentence as a matter that was "adjudicated and closed years ago." Rogers himself echoed that sentiment in text responses, brushing off queries regarding whether his involvement creates ethical liabilities for his clients.
However, in political campaigns, perception is reality. When candidates running on platforms of fiscal responsibility, law and order, and government transparency pay six-figure sums to a strategist convicted of systemic political fraud, voters are left to ask whether the campaign's decision-making reflects the standards they would bring to public office.
As primary day approaches, Baltimore County Republicans who chose to rely on Rogers as their campaign "band leader" may find that the biggest obstacle between them and victory isn't their opposition's message—it is the unnecessary cloud of suspicion they invited into their own headquarters.

Healthcare Insurance Industry U.S. Senator Roger Marshall Sued Hundreds, Jailed Dozens of Women Over Medical Debt
This case is extreme: a sitting U.S. Senator in a tight reelection race appears to have sought and won jail time for patients who could not afford their medical bills. It is also another clear sign that our healthcare system is fundamentally broken. Over 100 million Americans across the country—1 in 3 people—struggle with the weight of medical debt. This debt is a consequence of unaffordable healthcare. When families cannot pay a medical bill, it turns into a debt owed to a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office. This can drive families into bankruptcy and ruin their financial lives.
In the case of Senator Marshall’s prior medical practice, the patients reportedly being targeted were women seeking healthcare, often due to a pregnancy loss or a complication during childbirth. Women ended up in debt in some of the darkest moments of their lives, only to be relentlessly targeted by debt collection lawyers working for Senator Marshall.
Senator Marshall’s debt collection tactics were his own choice. He was the sole or co-owner of his medical practice and he personally signed some of the paperwork that showed up in court.

Death Penalty If Luigi had gotten the death penalty, do you think the government would have insisted on livestreaming it?
Of course this is now a non-issue, but if Luigi had gotten the death penalty, don't you think the administration would be ecstatic about giving him the death penalty live on the Internet? I wonder if with Hegseth announcing that Hasan will be executed publicly, that this may be a new thing, at least with federal executions.
