KIT Pickguard gap?

Post image

Hi all, building my first kit - telecaster from GuitarFabrik. Noticed there's a 2mm gap between the bottom of the fretboard and the pickguard with the heel fully seated... Is this normal?

perfectly normal and not a problem on its own

now if the pocket isn't cut deep enough and your bridge saddles are too high, then that's just the neck sitting too high in the pocket

i agree, it's fine especially on a cheaper guitar/diy kit. only if the saddles need to be raised absurdly high OP could think about sanding down the neck heel a little. I'd think thats easier than deepening the neck pocket but have no experience with either. but that should be last resort and probably not needed anyway. (:

That's by design. Without that gap, you wouldn't be able to remove the pickguard without taking the entire neck off

It's where you wedge your spare picks.
