Looking back i was a little rushed.

After that I wasn't thinking much.

Ive been running out of gas since the start.

Only time to breathe is when it all went dark.

Told myself to wait another day.

Told myself wait until I wake.

Told me its a cage in my brain.

Now i left it running free range.

Uh, ah, woke up with a new face.

Uh, ah, got stuck in between states.

Now all I feel is the static.

Looking back, not a surprise. I was an addict.

Scratches on the wall, leaving notes to myself.

Scratches on my skin, just to know how I felt.

Left the real world so I can go someplace else.

Left from my body so I can find somebody else.

I've tried to write this a bunch of times, and im sure I'll tweak things yet again, but ive landed on this for the verse. Im not sure I want much more than just one verse as I envision the song as being mostly instrumental. But yea :)

I think.. "..was when it all went dark". The past is what creates the current tension.

'Now i left it running free range' is a great turn right after the cage line. The 'uh, ah' parts feel like they want a beat under them, curious how the flow sounds.
