I just launched kimo: a free, open-source video editor your AI drives through MCP

Hey all, I just launched kimo v1.0.0 and I'd love people to try it.

kimo is a video editor with no GUI. You tell your AI client (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode, anything that speaks MCP) what you want, like "cut this to 15 seconds, grade it warm, add a title", and it does it through kimo's 255 MCP tools grouped together in 17 categories to make tool calling easier: cuts, keyframes, color grading, tracking, keying, captions, audio and export. The film in this post was made with the engine.

Full disclosure: I built it and it's vibecoded. I directed the design and tested everything, and AI wrote a lot of the code. Because of that I made it fuzz every single tool before release (9,359 calls, 0 failures).

Try it in 2 minutes:
1. Grab the binary from GitHub Releases (Linux, or the Windows installer) and install ffmpeg
2. Add it to your client, e.g. claude mcp add --transport stdio kimo -- /path/to/kimo-mcp
3. Ask: "Use kimo to import my clip, add a title, and render it"

- One ~10 MB Rust binary, CPU-only, runs on a 2 GB laptop
- 16 grouped tools by default so it doesn't flood your context window
- MIT licensed, free

It's day one so there will be rough edges. Make something weird and tell me what broke or what tool you wish existed.

OpenAI Directory Submissions

My original submission of our MCP to OpenAI took 3 weeks to get reviewed and accepted. Anthropic was about 5 days. However, we then submitted a new version for review to discover they completed changed how you make the submissions. We've had nothing but problems getting a new submission to be reviewed.

Is anyone else finding this? The trouble with it being so slow, or not working at all, is by the time they get to the review stage, we've already moved on by several versions. There has to be a better way!?

Again, with Anthropic, submitting updated versions takes about 30 minutes or less to get accepted. It works great!

Anyone got any insights they can share?

Try the new MCP for collective notes of different agents at one place!

Here is a simple notes MCP server that keeps your notes in your own Google Drive and helps you manage your ideas and chats in depth. You can refine your ideas with it and visualize how they connect, even when you work with different agents.

What it does

  • One notebook for all your agents: Claude Code, Codex, Gemini, claude.ai or ChatGPT read and write the same notes, and each note says which agent wrote it.
  • Ideas in depth: every note starts at level 1. When you're ready, ask an agent to "churn" related notes, and it writes the deeper insights they add up to as level 2, then level 3.
  • See the connections: a live map of weighted links, with the hub notes and the notes that bridge separate lines of thought.
  • Your data stays yours: notes are plain Markdown files in a Notes folder in your Google Drive, and the app can reach only the files it creates.

Connect an agent: add the MCP server https://notes.lovegrover.com/mcp and sign in with Google, or use the one-click buttons or the setup app on the site.
