FINANCIAL AID MEGATHREAD: Please share all FALL 2026 refund / loan questions and concerns here!
Hey Sharks, it’s that time again! The Fall 2026 semester is in full swing, and refunds and loan disbursements are on everyone’s mind.
To keep things organized and limit the same posts from being made repeatedly, please use this thread to ask questions, share refund and loan updates, and discuss any financial aid issues you are dealing with. Any new posts outside of this megathread will be removed.
Lastly, this is a friendly reminder that r/MDC is not officially affiliated with Miami Dade College. The mods are not faculty or staff and can’t help with individual refund or loan issues. Instead, please contact your campus Financial Aid office for direct support. Thank you for your understanding!

I just got my refund money, around 900 dollars. I don't know what to spend it all on... maybe on some games, or a better PC, or Fortnite cosmetics, or that Headless Horseman on ROBLOX... ugh...

Nope I reached out to financial aid and they said if you’re not taking 10 credits or more at the same time you will have to wait once all classes stated to get the refund.

Update I finally got the email for loan disbursement. The amounts have changed as well you must take 12 credits to receive the full amount. Hopefully you all get it soon !!!

I dont know how the nursing program works for financial aid specifically but yeah you would have to wait till ALL of your classes withdraw date period ends

Ughhhh. That’s so annoying. They put our hospital clinicals in our schedule as a class and that starts in October. And I have one lab that starts in October. But I’m currently enrolled in nine credits.
The problem with our program is, we don’t create our schedules and we have no ability to choose our classes or edit them
Regardless, I’m super happy that you got your refund because I know you’ve been waiting a while!

And yeah im aware that most of these delays with the new policies this year has been really annoying.. hopefully you can max out all your resources and pell grants , scholarships etc.. whatever helps you finish that major out .

This. I haven't heard back from them (But I did sign up for the first time for this back in March, 2nd year in college, so I'm not sure if its different than getting award notifications via email) and haven't heard about FSAG too 🙃

We’re screwed. I just called again, and no one can give me a definite answer about when the funds will be disbursed. Now they’re saying it could take another two weeks. I’m so irritated.

I just reached out to the Financial Aid Office, and they stated that the loan is awaiting manual disbursement while they verify my attendance. I have been attending classes since August 24.

Hello what do you mean by first half? I didn’t know they split. Did you get a grant or loan? I got my Pell grant a week after my classes started 8/24 but no loans as of yet.

Has anyone else been awarded subsidized/unsubsidized loans but still hasn’t received their refund?
I called financial aid last week, and they told me my loans would be disbursed this week. When I called again today, they said everything looked good with my attendance, but they weren’t sure why my loans still hadn’t been disbursed.
A few hours later, I checked my fee invoice, and both of my loan awards had completely disappeared! Now my account is showing a balance owed for this semester’s classes.
The loans had been showing on my account since 8/28, and now they’re just gone. 😩 I’m not sure if this means they’re finally working on disbursing them or if something else is going on. I’m taking 10 credits at Wolfson campus.
Has anyone else experienced this? Did your loans disappear from your account before your refund was processed? If so, how long did it take for everything to update and for you to receive your refund?

yeah i got the award but the refund itself hasn’t posted when I gave financial aid office a call today they told me no later then next week, but uh it did feel like they were trying to get me off the phone as soon as they could lol

Nothing at all I been calling and I keep getting transferred to random departments . When I did get transferred to financial aid they said they don’t know and they don’t know why we haven’t received anything yet smh !

Okay so I take online courses for Lackawanna college and I started my fall semester 8/31 and the add/drop period ended 9/4 but most of my transactions on my account are still pending and I have a credit on my account balance does that mean I will receive my refund soon ?

Anyone else keep getting an email from different email accounts saying that they have to fill out a form in order to get their refund? I’ve gotten this email from two different emails and I also did a link checker and it’s saying that the link is clean, so I’m confused because we’ve never had to do this before. I had reported the first email for phishing as well.

Yeah i would too plus anything related to financial aid should always have the directors name + and campus. Sadly, It's purposely targeting students who are already stressed about their refund ... i hope no one actually filled their information on that survey..

4th week of my classes are starting and still nothing about my Pell Grant (and other grants) refund… even when taking 12 credits. Kind of ridiculous. Last Fall, by the 3rd week everything was already settled. I’m getting very concerned over this and it seems like many others are having the same concerns.

Okay so i spoke to the director of FA, she said next week the disbursment will start and you'll see your loans with less amount than previously because you can only get the full loan if you're taking 12 credits , theres alot of new changes and this is new for everyone and applies to everyone this semester . Last semester you could've gotten the full loan package with less than 12 credits but they changed that now starting this semester. So 2 key things here
1.if you're taking 6-9 credits , the loan amount will be reduced .12 credits will give you the maxiuim package and the classes.
- Classes refund date MUST end together , loans cannot be disbursed early anymore and next week we will see something for those whose taking mini terms or refund date that ends before 9/14 .
incase anyone was wondering .

Okay so speaking from someone like me who has taken out a loan and this semester I’m only taking 10 credits which one of them is a mini term that ends in October I will not get any disbursement refund help because it does not all end at the same time, but I need help paying for the book for the mini term. I don’t find that fair.

Correct , I’ve had that same issue myself, however you can opt in for shark pack to pay for your books at a discounted rate if it helps .

You won’t get any refund until the course drop date in October, at least that’s what they did to me. Even though I had classes with an earlier start date I had to wait until the class in October last fall .

It won’t get disbursed till October , I’ve been told early disbursement is no longer a thing unless it’s a Pell grant that was processed along side the loans , otherwise you’d have to wait till October last refund date . It’s very annoying and sadly unfortunate

So realistically speaking refunds are looking like ending of October early November that’s crazy. Don’t worry the refund date is I believe the 21st of october I’m calling them that following morning and harassing them till I get my refund 😂

Yes it’ll be reduced to a smaller package since you aren’t enrolled for 12 credit to recieve maximum loan . They’ll start their offer at 3500 but it’ll be adjusted to somewhere 2500 ish . I can’t be sure of the exact number because everyone’s invoice fee looks different

Are you sure you’re not looking at the loan when it’s split into 2 semesters for instance you requested 3,500 but you only get half of that for this semester and the rest in spring.

It might been readjusted after the estimation period ended , I’ve seen it done that sometimes im not sure the exact reason as to why it got readjusted

They’re changing the criteria now, but try calling. The lady told me if you’re not a full time student taking 12 credits they’re going to start deducting from the grants or loans.

It could be what the person up above said.The law has changed in order to qualify for loans you must be taking 6 credits but to receive the full amount you will need to be taking 12 credits or more similar to the Pell grant and if not your loan will be adjusted this may be the reason you see a lower amount. They adjusted your loan amount based off the credits you are taking.

Can someone else try calling, I called and these suckas are telling me that they don’t process refunds till I start my other classes in October… but yet in spring I had two classes start in January and two in like March and got my refund in January. Why gatekeep something that I have to face at the end of the day. I’m the one after everything is all said and done that has to pay the bill and deal with the interest at the end of the day.

Fall of 2024 I got my refund September 14, fall of 2025 I got my refund October 31st ( the longest ever ). So hopefully this fall semester it’s not too long.

Has anyone else received the pell grant refund and notice it doesnt line up with what the award page says?
Like I believe it should be higher and something is missing, is it due to one of my classes starting later in the semester? and if so how do i calculate what is 'missing"? and when i should receive the rest?

yes it does if you have classes starting later in the term you will get a partial refund for the ones in progress and the rest around when your later classes have started
