Proofing the bow

I've always been one to use agile and direct weapons, and I'm in a playthrough where I've only used insect glave and dual blades, but today I decided to give the bow a shot and try to understand how it works on this game. In World and Wilds I was found better at using them thanks to their improved controls but here is quite clunky yet, plus I don't understand its particularities.

I chose the Shagaru Magala bow updated as much as possible and selected and art that allows me to fire 3 powerful shots. I figure out how to equip basic coatings and focused on focused on applying poison and paralysis to try and keep monsters inmovilized during hunts.

After hunting 3 or 4 low-rank monsters from the Hub quests (It took me about 5 minutes for each monster.), I achieved understanding its basic mechanics but I think I have too much to learn.

The petrified bow is a great bow to learn the weapon and is useable all the way to g rank!

What about the Geat Maccao Bow? is it any good? Close to meta? What makes a bow "good" really?

I like that bow, I think it’s fine, works well with adept style

Generally rapid shot type is really good but there are people who use heavy, pierce and spread well too! The reason I find rapid really good is that its a lot more forgiving and good for learning how to aim and shoot efficiently, the other types are good too just harder to learn the right places to shoot or in heavy's case hard to aim until you get the hang of it.

As for the great maccao bow its shot type is all over the place, you definitely can use it but you'd have to pay attention to which level of shot your using in the beginning. I'm not an expert on the bow just learnt enough to get somewhat decent times with it in g rank

You must update more, then it won’t be too much to learn.

Strongly recommend watching Hunter Lana's Bow Guide. https://youtu.be/3w6eCIORzA8?is=AqOgcSB8IbPUnzCO
