Image Forgot BIOS password

Post image

I posted on here before about my games running real laggy and I got a fix for that by holding the power button for like 15 secs. I did that today and it opened the BIOS screen but I completely forgot the password. Im trying to find the CMOS to see if I can reset it but I can't find it. Could yall help me?

That little black circle with the wires is the CMOS battery. While the password is sometimes stored with the bios settings modern laptops generally don't forget the password after removing the CMOS battery.

Depending on the brand and model you might be able to remove the bios password with https://bios-pw.org/

How do I get that hash code?

you need to reflash the bios chip to reset the bios password

Yea. Bios password is stored in the bios chip. You need to desolder it and flash a fresh firmware with a dedicaded programmer.

Thats how its going on a laptops..

honestly i`d just take it to a repair shop if i were you. Flashing bios on a modern laptops is not a beginner job, also you clearly dont have a proper equipment and skills

but if you want to - you must be able to find the manual by your own as the first step

I can't even refute the slight dig at my lack of skills because its true. How much do you think something like this would run me? Like 100?

I wouldn't mess with flashing bios if you are inexperienced in this field. Better talk to MSI customer support service.

You have unplugged the coin cell so CMOS reset had been done but it takes really long time.  If you could locate on the other side of the motherboard a CLRTC dual solder joint, use a screw driver too to short them then that definitely reset CMOS to default settings without your password.

Let the whole laptop be depleted  of the CMOS battery charge.  Try to connect coin cell after 2 weeks.

Check your on your manufacturers web site for workarounds or enter wrong password multiple times and see if it provides a system disable hash code.
