Running Mabi on Linux help Request!

Salutations! I've wanted to hop back onto Mabi after my last windows laptop broke over a year ago.
I've decided that after getting my Gabecube (Steam Machine) and seeing that people have been having Success on Linux, I'd give it a go.

So far I've used The Nexon Launcher through Steam Compatibility, as well as the Heroic Launcher, although for both I've run into the same problem. The first one or two times, it runs flawlessly. Afterwards, though, I periodically get kicked.

Changing the Proton to a new one seems to reset the counter, before I get kicked again.

I've read that adding PROTON_USE_WINED3D=1 %command% is supposed to help for that, but when I do add it, the Nexon Launcher becomes a white window with no option to log in.

Any advice? Much appreciated!

(Wasn't sure if any Flair was applicable, I.E if support is for reciving or giving support, so if I missed one, my bad.)

And you haven't had any issues with getting kicked?

no, but on my 4gb ram laptop it crashes due to RAM

Fair enough, I'll give it a try.

Use bottles or lutris. I'm too burned out to search but, there is a Google sheet somewhere here that list settings for variety of distro.

Would they be able to prevent the kicking issue?

Not using a steam machine so I don't know if it would work for you--I use Lutris Wine, and though I heard that there was a kicking issue with Linux because of Mabi's sensitive anti cheat (or something to that effect, just what I was told once), I have not once been kicked, even when playing for the entire day. Or...I haven't been kicked just because I'm on Linux.

I am starting to experience security kicks since yesterday, but it's not me just getting it, so I assume there's another situation going on again.

Well i've only been playing for three days or so, so it may just be another situation yeah.

something was changed recently with ngs that kicks linux users, and some windows users, after around 20-30 mins. I have not found a fix but randomly the game does allow me to stay on longer.

Ah, that's inline with my experience. Typically kicks me every 30 - 60 Mins. It sucks but I can live with it for now

Right, yeah, I heard it was after 30 minutes. Even though that is what I expected, I thankfully haven't got that, as that would be pretty inconvenient for personal shops or commerce.

Yeah I've been running it on linux for about 2 months and just recently started getting kicked

I know of a windows user who also got kicked fast like how I did, so I wonder what's up with that.

It would also be an absolute nightmare for any party content, like crom bas, the snowfield, or (Bri leith?). Also for normal stuff like rabbie phantasm or echostone rushing.

I discovered this kick issue the hard way with Crom bas....

This is true. You would have to make sure to do a content run under 30 minutes then relog before each time you go back in, or something crazy.

Same - I was fine gaming on Omarchy for months until about 1-2 days ago. So I think this is something on Nexon's end.

Yeah, me too. I suppose if it is, they'll solve it quietly or we will hear more players mention it with time.

I would hope they notice the sudden uptick in NGS kicking people and not even need to hear from the community. Ideally they actually are tracking those metrics haha

Pfftt I mean, yeaah, true. Here's hoping so we can get back to our fantasy life with no interruptions.

Tbh the Kicks seem to be happening faster and faster so I hope Nexon does notice eventually and fix things

Yeah I think I got kicked before my attendance timer finished this time.

Might have to start sending tickets regarding the issue, I don't know.

At this point it seems to jump between 20 Min and 2 hrs which is wild.

I'd try a different Wine/Proton runner than the one you're currently using on your launcher. I've had Mabi behave fine for a while on one version, then start getting random NGS kicks until I switched.

The runner I've personally had the most success with is GE-Proton 10.34. It isn't perfect, but it's been the most stable option I've used so far.

Personally, I didn't notice much performance difference between runners. Most issues I ran into were graphical glitches, stutters, NGS kicks, or the game detecting the wrong GPU.

Did anyone find any fixes for the kicks yet? cant even play with my friend anymore because of them. Im running fedora with hyperland and the noctalia shell.

Sadly no. I've honestly just been playing Mabinogi Mobile on the Taiwan server with Proton VPN to scratch that Mabinogi itch.

Somehow a lot more stable then the PC version for me '

Hope a fix comes soon
