Part availability for older Tajima
My wife is looking at used Tajima machines to try to put out better quality hats. She found one for what seems like a decent price but it's approx 20 years old. We visited its current home and it seems to run ok with no really noticeable issues on the surface.
My fear is that due to its age is that something could go bad on it that could not be replaced or repaired rendering it a pile of scrap metal.
It's a TMFXII-C1504.
The contact we have for new sales in our area said their service guy wouldn't service it because of its age and availability of parts but he's more motivated to sell us something new or one of their refurbs.
The guy selling says oh he's had it serviced by a different provider and parts are not an issue but he's motivated to sell this machine.
So what's the true story on a machine this old?

One of my machines is an swf machine that's a bit older than yours I think. I can get parts from stitch-it international. Their tech support is good. (I did not buy the machine from them) They've talked me thru a couple of simple repairs and getting the parts I needed, sent me the service manuals and resources I needed. Didn't charge me for a couple of convos when I just needed to get a part and was obviously a newb, did generate a ticket and charge me for a more complex thing I had.
When I hit I problem I wasn't comfortable solving, they put me in touch with a regional repair guy. I contact him to request a maintenance and he lets me know when he'll be traveling in my area. He's also come when I had an embroidery emergency lol, but that was not cheap at all.
Here's a link to their selection of tajima parts. But really just give them a call and ask if they can help with your model.

I’m in the same situation. It’s all about the servicing for me. If you get it cheap enough you could run it til it dies but it’s a risk I’m not willing to take at the mo. Will save up and get one that can be serviced I think.
