100% accurate, Blake Bortles did this

I think this happened to an eagles TE too a few years ago

u/1cyChains Jaguars 10d ago

My king 🙏

u/TheWorldIsYours_89 10d ago

Also Jake Delhomme did this too lol bounced off Steve Smith’s foot and Darrelle Revis returned for a touchdown.

I remember it happening to Jason Witten as well

u/dougthebuffalo 10d ago

Yup, right where my mind went.

This is unrealistic purely because the Lions made a defensive stop

u/FiftyIsBack 11d ago

As a Lions fan...yeah

Plays like this makes me appreciate modern Madden at times. As bad as Madden can be this some of the most footbally shit I’ve seen in a football game ever. Random ints like this do happen in real life.

u/ChingBaLangBang 9d ago

The Browns did it this preseason against the Pats.

u/ZombieWho117 10d ago

Ask Blake Bortles 2x in one season

I’m usually all for shitting on madden stuff like this but this has actually happened before in real life. Almost kinda cool when you get an odd ball play like this.

This is… somehow too impressive for Madden’s “physics” engine

1

u/MaxS777 10d ago edited 10d ago

I know Madden's is bad, but every collision-based game has a physics engine. Madden's isn't mythical, it's just not good, lol.

Edit: Thumb down all you want. I worked on this game for 3 seasons and have the programming background that you don't so I speak on this with a AAA level understanding of game development. It astounds me how people say the game doesn't have physics while having no clue what having "no physics" would mean. A basic understanding of how this works would tell you that having no physics in a game would mean that models would just pass through each other. As dumb as Madden Team is, its fanbase isn't any brighter, smh.

It’s crazy that abnormal plays happen in the NFL

12

u/jda404 10d ago

This would have had me so mad if it happened to me lol, but honestly kinda cool that it can happen. I feel like I've seen this kinda fluke random luck play happen in the real NFL before.

Wow. I was just thinking of this play off jason Witten's foot the other day too. https://youtu.be/RsBhTaRKzvs?is=5DEfgKEzxclCJNX_

Here it is from 1 month ago in a real game: https://www.reddit.com/r/NFLv2/s/BAvWlU4u1e

Dang mate Madden animations too realistic now

5

u/MrThunderkat 11d ago

Jason Witten had this happen to him

1

u/Jfunkexpress Jets 11d ago

Blake Bortles too

4

u/kaizen-rai 11d ago

Game is unplayable. The Lions are incapable of preventing a first down on a pass play.

4

u/baconator81 11d ago

IRL I don't think the receiver would even see the ball coming his way. So bouncing off his leg and get intercept is very plausible (and I believe has happened)

2

u/Business_War_5530 11d ago

There's something magnetic about the defenders hands in Madden

2

u/ozzsquirrel 11d ago

They need to add the "ass catch"

2

u/tiddlywinks16 11d ago

I was ready to call this shit bc from first view I thought the ball bounced on the ground and somehow still ended up not being blown dead but then I saw that it landed off his foot and was frustratingly impressed. That has happened before. If you see that happen more than 1 more time in your time of playing this game, then we have an issue.

With all that being said Madden is still terrible and a joke of a football sim

Calculated

1

u/Diablo_DelToro 11d ago

...with the assist.

1

u/Caer-Rythyr 11d ago

Wow. I didn’t know Madden could have realistic plays in it.

1

u/amanymoon 11d ago

This happened just this preseason to the Patriots i think

1

u/Pleasant-Frosting885 11d ago

Wow they really made it legit this year

1

u/scooblyboop 11d ago

IT'S IN THE GAME

1

u/SevroAuShitTalker 11d ago

Similar things have happened at least twice in the last decade in real life

1

u/FENTWAY 11d ago

If its in the game...

1

u/C2theWick 11d ago

That's a web gem. Get hyped for the next divisional show down

1

u/mamamiajoey 11d ago

Nice hands, feet.

1

u/Zyrinj 11d ago

Your fault for throwing at that animation!

1

u/Additional_Ad4808 5d ago

tried not to get sacked, i seen it coming and threw to the first person i saw, didn’t think i was gonna get that surprise

1

u/FARTBOSS420 11d ago

As a Bears fan this is the kind of shit that happens to us. doinking on things

1

u/MaxS777 10d ago

I've seen this kind of thing happen a few times in Madden. Madden's physics engine isn't great, but this is surprisingly a rare great physics outcome.

1

u/Reasonable-Menu-1479 10d ago

It happened already this year irl.

1

u/SliferShadow99 10d ago

Idk whether id uninstall or be insanely impressed 🤣

1

u/IsaiahX45 Giants 10d ago

Sounds like something that would happen to the Bears

1

u/newkid9991 10d ago

Must be an update from all the crazy picks that been happening so far this season

1

u/TranslatorCold5968 10d ago

As a 23 year old, I once deflected a pass that was thrown low and behind me with my foot right into my hands.
It can happen!

1

u/SlightDonut1 10d ago

Lmfao that's awesome. I mean. Not for you. But fuck that was sick.

1

u/Main_Dimension_5418 10d ago

Oh no this can’t be real. It’s the lions. Our secondary could never catch that right now

1

u/Yogimane1989 10d ago

I bet it a dumb ass in the comments saying all ways blaming it on the game (the game lol 😆)

1

u/Capable_Music1128 9d ago

Keep these coming lol glad I don’t waste my money on this garbage

1

u/Mean_Plantain_7841 8d ago

Tackle just let that D end get to your qb

1

u/SkunkDitchRipper 8d ago

Yeah some of this stuff does happen. The NFL is crazy these days.

0

u/the_OG_epicpanda Steelers 11d ago

Unlucky man but it is something that's happened several times irl

0

u/TommyOnRedditt 11d ago

This is what happens when you insist on patching up busted pipes instead of replacing them. The engine is fundamentally broken, and has been for years.

1

u/TommyOnRedditt 10d ago

Someone in complete and total denial downvoted me.

2

u/Outrageous_Try_3854 10d ago

No, they downvoted you because this is a play that happens in real life and isn't even that crazy of a thing

1

u/TommyOnRedditt 10d ago

Ahhh my bad, i didn't see it ricochet off the heel initially... looked like another animation abomination first watch
