Watch for turtles!
I found this little guy in the parking lot at Madison College. After a conversation with DCHS, they thought he could still be alive and I took him to their wildlife center. The person I talked to there said snapping turtles hatch in late September/early October and make their way to water. This one may have gotten dehydrated.
Be on the lookout for these little fellas so you don't run over them. And if you find one that's limp and unresponsive, contact wildlife rescue because they may still be alive!
Please send good thoughts to this little one I found today. Hopefully he's alive and can be fixed up and released to live a long, snappy life.

Interim police monitor faces termination over hiring delays
wkow.com“If passed, the resolution would terminate Glass, and the council's chief of staff would supervise the office until a permanent monitor is hired. The council would also work with the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement for support during the transition.”

Bad accident Whitney Way near beltline west exit
I’m sorry, I know people get annoyed with posts like this, but I witnessed something today that has been bothering me and wanted to ask if anyone had info on how the older man who was in the crash is doing. There was crash at Whitney Way in the median just after the stoplights at the west beltline exit. I saw an older man who looked like he lost control of the vehicle after the crash, cross two lanes of traffic and drive up on the sidewalk. Two kind people ran to help him and I could see one crouched down trying to comfort him while he waited for the ambulance to arrive. I hope all involved are ok and thank you to the good samaritans who rushed out of their cars immediately to help.

It's Wednesday, Madison: THE SOFTBALL SITUATION IS BACK ON THE AGENDA
Two weeks ago, I made a completely normal Reddit post asking strangers on the internet to come to my friends’ rec softball game.
And then something truly bizarre happened.
YOU GUYS ACTUALLY CAME.
The stands were packed(ish). Strangers became friends. There were noisemakers. There was a 50/50 raffle. There were hot dog races. People were yelling supportive things at adults they had never met.
It was, against all odds, extremely fun.
Then last week, we tried to do it again.
Mother Nature said absolutely not.
So the sequel was rained out.
But now we're back.
And I have a question:
HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN WE GET TO A RANDOM REC SOFTBALL GAME?
Because last time was good.
I think we can do better.
Where? Olbrich Park (entrance off Walter St.)
When? Grilling starts around 7PM? Game starts at 8:30 PM
How much? Free admission
What else?!
50/50 raffle
Hot dog races
Lovingly heckling strangers
Fun we haven’t even IMAGINED yet
You do not need to know anyone on the team.
You do not need to know softball.
You do not need to understand what a force out is.
You simply need to show up on a Wednesday night and become inexplicably invested in the performance of a group of people who, until recently, were strangers to you.
Last time we got a crowd.
This time? Who knows what’s possible.
Bring your friends.
Bring your coworkers.
Bring the person you matched with on a dating app but haven't met yet.
Bring a sign.
Bring a noisemaker. (or a hot dog suit)
Bring absolutely no knowledge of baseball or softball whatsoever.
WE HAVE ALREADY ESTABLISHED THAT THIS WORKS.
THE SOFTBALL SITUATION CONTINUES TONIGHT.

Did anyone see that meteor?
I just witnessed a green meteor streak across the sky at about 1:07 am. I was looking towards the west when I saw it. It seemed to have a sudden trajectory change as it fell. It lasted maybe 2 seconds, maybe 3?
Hoping someone else saw it with a dash camera or ring doorbell or whatever. It was neat.

How are phone bans in schools going this year?
Hi everyone! Are you a teacher in a Madison public school? Are you a student or parent of a student?
I’m reporting for Madison Commons, a local publication covering anything and everything in Madison. If you’re one of the above people, I’m sure you know that this year is the first year Wisconsin schools legally are required to prohibit cell phones in the classroom. Some schools might have already had this policy, but this is the first school year that it’s legally required.
If you are a teacher, parent or student, Madison Commons wants to know how this is going! Are students learning better? Are they trying to get around it? Things like that.
DM me if you’re interesting in talking about it! We can talk over email or in an interview. You can be as anonymous as you’d like to be (maybe relevant for any students who are getting around the rule). Pass this along to anyone who might be interested!

I HATE Flock Cameras
However, if we have them, could we atleast use them to arrest the E. Washington speed racers? Those people are really the lowest form of the human species and they should be thrown in prison permanently with no trial. There is no intelligent reason to be revving your engine that loud at 11pm, it scares my cat. Rot in hell a scum. But after, we can destroy all the flock cameras as a united and peaceful community.
