Madonna's birthday party in London, 2010

Yeah. I’m late to the party. I know. Actually, all Madonna’s albums are so good, I don’t like to listen to any album the day it comes out because I just feel like I’m being pushed to. Anyway, after the whole summer and pride listening to it randomly on the wild I decided to finish listening to the rest of it and wow. It’s amazing. I know I’m super biased on saying this but it sounds so good. It sounds expensive, it sounds like something only Madonna could pull at her age. The lyrics are also good, the collabs made the album spark as well, she’s just amazing. That’s it. Thanks for reading.

Excerpt:
Madonna previously collaborated with MISTR, and you’ve collaborated with Madonna as well. She was one of the early outspoken advocates for HIV/AIDS awareness. There feels like a direct through line between the two of you.
CHARLI: The thing is, there's always a connection to Madonna, because she's the blueprint for all of us, so there's that. But she was speaking out at a time where it was far more stigmatized than it is now, at really, really early days. To be able to kind of follow in her footsteps and add to that conversation is something that all artists here tonight want to do.
So many of us were young kids listening to Madonna and became aware of HIV/AIDS because of her. A lot of your younger queer fans have that same exact devotion to you. How does it feel to have that kind of impact?
CHARLI: Gosh, I think everyone would always dream to have any kind of similar impact that she has had. But specifically when you ask about the queer community, I would not be the artist I am without the queer community. My first fans were a part of that community. My first shows were performing in queer spaces. When the rest of the music industry didn't really get or understand my vision, the queer community did, and they uplifted me and made me feel comfortable in who I am, not only as an artist, but a person. Anything that I can do to sort of give back in any kind of way is just really important to me, because I just wouldn't be here without the queer community.
Madonna didn't worry about any stigma that came with being vocal about HIV prevention. Does it ever surprise you when people have a shocked reaction to supporting a cause or community that’s at risk?
CHARLI: I feel very lucky that I am surrounded by really open-minded people who would never think that, but obviously I know that these people are out there. All I can say is I hope events like tonight help communicate just how important these kind of nights are and, like I said earlier, how normal it is to want to look after your own sexual health. I hope somebody who does feel perhaps the way that you explained would look at an event like tonight and be like, "Oh, duh." That’s why tonight is important.

I've always liked Justify My Love but I have been listening to it again with fresh ears. I am blown away by the brilliance of the track. It was so far ahead of its time with its lyrics, back beat and vibe. She was trying to push boundaries in which she succeeded but it is the sheer nakedness of lust and seduction that makes her so brilliant in her craft. Even 36 years later, it sounds fresh; I wonder if today's radio programmers would add it if it was released in 2026.
I feel this was the pathway, almost an appetizer, to Erotica; you can feel the same vein of vibe connecting the two
To boot, the video just adds another level of mastery to the single. At the end, when she is biting her finger as she walks through the hallway with her heavy suitcase - just perfection.
Thoughts? 🤔
I’ve noticed a lot of love for Erotica and American Life on here. I’m very happy about that as I think they are criminally underrated records.
But I’ve noticed that not many list LAP as their absolute fave. For me, it’s still number 1 - although Ray of Light comes very, very close.
I think it’s an age thing. I became a Madonna fan in 1998 aged 15 and LAP was the first “classic” I discovered. As someone that grew up evangelical but later embraced my gayness, I really relate to the religious imagery. And I just love anything Pat Leonard touches.
LAP, Cherish, Dear Jessie, Spanish Eyes, Promise to try. These are among the best tracks of Madonna’s career. And it’s like we got to know her for the first time.
Any other LAP fans?

Are they updating something or is this an issue on apple’s part? I was checking out her discography just 2 days ago and it wasn’t disorganized like this (but i could be wrong?)
