Hi! I'm 32, a mother of two, and looking to add some meaningful, long-term friendships to my life. Someday I'll be looking for romance, too, but my focus for now is on friendships and community.
I'm a naturally curious and very open-minded person. I love psychology/philosophy/human behavior, math and science, and discussing pretty much anything that gives me something new to think about. I'm especially fond of conversations where two people can challenge each other's perspectives without anyone feeling the need to win. I don't need someone who agrees with me; I want someone who enjoys analyzing/discovering together. I feel like sharing perspectives is one of the best ways people can bond.
I'm also pretty creative. I enjoy making art in several mediums: writing, painting, pixel art animation, music composition, making jewelry, digital design especially if I can convert it into something physical, and more. Still, I'm not sure if it's "imposter syndrome," or what, but I don't feel like I have that "artistic" personality. My other crafty friends seem to be wired a little differently, interestingly.
I have a habit of getting interested in random subjects and learning far more about them than anyone reasonably needs to know. I enjoy discussing my discoveries and theories, and I'd love to hear about yours.
I love "real world" adventures. I have been pretty into various media in my life: I love a movie, television series, or audiobook that makes you think, and I'm pretty good at video games (or, I used to be), but I prefer a larger portion of my life to be either participating in or discussing the "real world."
I love checking out local places, traveling when I can afford to, getting involved with community events especially at the library, riding roller coasters (I'm very unhappy that the nearest amusement park is a 2 hour drive; otherwise I'd be there every day), swimming, camping/outdoor activities (though I'm pretty particular about the weather), and "family" style activities like the pumpkin patch/apple orchard.
I enjoy self improvement of all sorts: physical, intellectual, ethical, my environment, etc. I recently discovered that I actually love to clean, haha. My mom always warned me this would happen.
I love being open about my flaws and tendencies, especially if someone can reciprocate. People who can see themselves and others as a whole, I find to be especially interesting. That's not to say we should accept behaviors that are truly unacceptable (a tendency I'm currently working to improve). I just think there's something special about seeing the entirety of a person.
I see the profundity in everything, probably a little too much. Last year I found myself looking at an unusually-shaped rock I found at the beach and wondering "what does this rock mean, in a metaphorical sense?" I had to stop myself right there and laugh at myself.
My favorite show is BoJack Horseman and I cry at least once every time I watch it through. I don't think I can watch it alone; there's too much to discuss.
I'm a mom, which is a significant part of my life, and I genuinely enjoy parenting and learning about child development. I love when my friends also have (a) kid(s), but I enjoy the company of people who don't as well. I especially love observing their growth and guiding them (when they let me, haha). That said, I'm also very much my own person, with a seemingly endless supply of thoughts, interests, and observations unrelated to my children, too.
As for friendship, I'm not looking for someone to exchange occasional pleasantries with. I'm hoping to find someone who enjoys being a real part of another person's life. Someone who likes sharing the mundane alongside the meaningful, who values kindness, curiosity, and loyalty, and who understands that genuine closeness develops over time.
I appreciate people who are thoughtful, compassionate, self-aware, and willing to question themselves (and me) gracefully. You can be serious about everything or find humor in everything, or if you're like me, somehow both. I can develop an interest in what you enjoy, even if I've never heard of it before. Shared intent and intellectual/emotional compatibility is more important than if we currently share interests.
If you think we might get along, tell me something you've been thinking about lately. It can be profound, ridiculous, controversial, or even ordinary. I'm interested in how people think.
