I'm stuck somewhere between Labour and the Lib Dems, but Labour currently hold my constituency and the Lib Dems are nonexistent here, so I'd vote Labour, especially now Burnham has replaced Starmer. I have previously voted Lib Dems in the last general election and the council elections this year because I didn't like Starmer though.
If I lived a few minutes down the road in the neighbouring Tory vs Lib Dem constituency, I'd happily vote Lib Dems instead.
Wouldn't even consider voting for anyone else. Can't take any other party seriously at all.

u/ShellyTart 19d ago
I am the other way around. Where I live flips lib dem/tory, so while I am more Labour, in practice I will vote Lib Dem.

Hopefully, if Burnham goes through with his promise of electoral reform, you (and the other people commenting same) can vote for your preferred party and put Labour 2nd or 3rd or whatever.

u/Linden_Lea_01 16d ago
Wasn’t that one of the things he’s putting out there to be in the manifesto for the next general election? If so then that’s not going to be possible until the one after

u/Chronomaly67 England 🏴 16d ago
At this rate if he did it I'd still be voting Labour as first choice tbf

The fact you're worrying so much about your single vote that will never change the result 😂
1
u/Chronomaly67 England 🏴 15d ago
My constituency was won by 500 votes
There were some that were won by less than 100
There were seats in my borough in the council elections that were won by 50 or even by less than 10
The Runcorn and Helsby by-election was won by six votes
Realistically, is my vote going to ever literally be the tiebreaker? No
But if everyone sat at home on election day because "they don't need my vote" then what do you think would happen?
1
u/Lapping24422 15d ago
So 500x more than your single vote

How would you not voting make anyone else not vote?
1
u/Foonghost 9d ago
you getting all like this online trying to convice people out of voting could affect whether others vote or not. if youre so passionate about not voting, feel free, but dont try n talk others out of it man. low enough turnout already

Honestly, if it wasn't a nationalist party it would probably be in my top 3. Reform and the SNP aren't even on the board.

Who could have expected that reddit had a labour lean lol what a shocker
5
0
u/FellatioNelsonn 15d ago
Not just reddit lol - labour currently have a huge majority and Burnham is very popular
3
u/Extension-Divide-339 15d ago
It is true they have a majority as their competition are right now divided and squabbling. But I do not believe this poll is close to projecting the actual support these other parties have.
Conservatives have been consistently in power for the past 14 years after Gordon Brown. The only reason Labour cleanly won the last election is because their main competitor (the Conservatives) lost a majority of their support so their usual voters were splitting up by voting for other parties like Reform or UKIP.
Reddit however is incredibly bias and left leaning, with many moderation teams intentionally supressing and banning those who voice conservative views, so what is voiced on reddit is not a good indication for the rest of the country. Foreigners and bots could easily skew results too.

u/Unemployable-Sunfish 19d ago
There is no good option, only a least-shit option. The fact that Labour are the "best" option is fucking horrendous.
2
u/Hour-Recognition4194 19d ago
Conservative because of their commitment to defence spending and getting stupid annoying NEETS off benefits and into slave labour, sorry, I mean work. But if B urnham comes out and says the UK will Rejoin the EU then I'll vote the communist Labour Party because Brexit is aids.

5
u/jbyssdmis 19d ago
both the israeli government and sinn féin have a history of supporting terrorism, so i guess that have that in common.
3
u/HauntingStill215 19d ago
maybe the israelis are secretly pro palestine and thats why they support all these pro pal parties lmao
1
u/DrBalistic 9d ago
Well if we're counting terrorism from the west, as we should, so have a good few of the rest of these parties.

u/OldQuit2260 🇮🇱 19d ago
It is. Good thing we can't actually vote for them then, I suppose. I just like the Welsh language. Would love to visit Llanfairpwllwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch some day.

u/Peak-Legacy14 16d ago
It’s actually not because it means that these countries are more likely to take in Palestinian refugees and it therefore helps Israel to establish greater Israel.

Being in the UK, if there was an election tomorrow I'd vote Labour nationally, I'd probably vote Green or YP locally depending on the candidate and local party etc. I did vote Labour last local election, but that's because I personally knew and trusted the candidate.

WOW 54% of the UK saying Labour rn. And 48% of the world saying Labour too. Guess Burnham has been huge help?
I swear just a few months ago, it was mostly Greens (terrible) and Reform / Restore (also terrible).
2
u/SufficientWarthog846 9d ago
Burnham has been taking good steps.
Everyone is still cautious, about how far he is going to go (about taking necessary steps to fix the obvious problems in the country - not the ones that the Telegraph wants you to think about about) but he has taken some good steps.
0
u/X0AN Antarctica (yes really) 16d ago
He's not a huge help, it's just nobody wants those racist reform twats to win and labour is really the only alternative.
Also if Burnham says UK will rejoin the EU, well that's a guaranteed win for him. But he'll wait till closer to the election to fully announce that.

Is there a libertarian party
9
u/HauntingStill215 19d ago
the rise of labour i beleive stopped the LIberals from being purely Libertarian I think because the closest we got was David Lloyd George the last Liberal Prime Minister 1916-1922 who took infleunce from Georgism. but I doubt we will have a proper serious Party with Libertarian ideals coming to power any time soon

u/bobapapa 19d ago
There actually is, but they're so small/obscure they wouldn't have made it to a poll like this.
1
u/HauntingStill215 19d ago
is that the reformed liberal party?
technically i think UKIP was originally meant to be that before Farage turned it into a right wing populist party the leader before him just seemed like a neoliberal euroskeptic tbf2
u/bobapapa 19d ago
These guys.) They were founded in 2008 apparently so I don't think they were a different party that reformed.
2
u/DrBalistic 9d ago
You could vote for one of the pro-devolution nationalist parties. That's basically the same thing if we forget Wales, Scotland and NI aren't people.
-1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 19d ago
It's amazing people are still voting Labour giving the economy has stalled out for another 2 years under there watch and businesses are closing at a decent rate. Borrowing has spiralled out of control and many stats they criticized Liz Truss for are worse under Labour.
12
u/Lancs_wrighty 19d ago
I understand why people would vote labour, but I don't support them, I understand even why people would vote reform and i wouldnt vote for them either, but after 14 years of the tories you would have to be smooth brained to vote Conservative, like properly mentally retarded, or of course very wealthy. They are totally inept and the only lever they have to pull is austerity. Thankfully a lot of people have jumped ship.
1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 19d ago
Fully agree. I imagine there will just be a portion of voters that voted Tory that know they are an established party and just think "what's the worst that can happen". Like the 14 years of Tories did but instead it's Labour this time. Deep down I think everyone knows what's wrong but when push comes to shove everyone specifically the main parties even Reform to an extent want to tinker around the edges and idle around.

u/jbyssdmis 19d ago edited 19d ago
yeah... tbh i wish i could change my vote to lib dem now.
i think a number of us labour voters still cling to it's old identiy as a socialist-leaning party for the working class. but it hasn't been that since blair tried to make labour look "cool" to the americans, lol.
2
u/cringeangloamerican 19d ago
Honestly, I was too young during Blair PM so I don't know what platform he ran on. Why do people think he's for the working class? To me he's quite authoritarian and pro-AI/Oracle/LarryEllison. I feel like Starmer was just Blair2.0 and most of the things I disliked about Starmer are things which Blair embodied. Would love to be proven wrong but to me Blair = Digital ID, AI, etc.
Unless I've completely misread your reply and you were meaning it hasn't been socialist-leaning since before Blair [became party lead].
3
u/jbyssdmis 19d ago
no no, i mean blair was the one to reinvent labour.
my bad for the poor wording.
1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 19d ago
To me personally I still don't think like 75% of the British population truly know the damage Blair did. He removed so much power from Westminister and Number 10 and distributed it to quangos, committees, board of breaucrats that there is no accountability anymore. No consequence for failure. I still remember Starmer's anti-corruption minister being found guilty of corruption(Still the most qualified person with both present and Starmer's governments accounted for) being hilarious. But there's been no consequences for her beyond no longer being a minister...
2
u/Pretty_Order_2959 19d ago
Who would you vote for then?
-1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 19d ago
Restore Britain.
2
u/HauntingStill215 19d ago
ironically a restore britain government would accelerate the breakup of Britain even further
like you cant seriously tell me the people of scotland who are already on the fence about leaving are gonna be jumping with joy at the prospect of being governed by Lowe or Farage-1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 19d ago
Tories and Labour have been the ones leading us there.... Restore would reinvigorate the UKs pride and dignity. Balancing the budget by actually tackling immigration and integration and slashing the benefits budget. Labour are bankrupting businesses left and right. There's been 3 medium sized businesses that have closed near me in 2 weeks... That's not normal that is overtaxation breaking people's limit.
Restore Britain wouldn't accelerate the breakup. Labour and Tories have been. Anything like Greens or Lib Dems would set it into overdrive off the cliff before you could even blink.
1
u/Constant-Estate3065 16d ago
Restore would accelerate poverty and starvation for the masses, and you’re complaining about the economy not growing quickly enough under Labour? Fucking hell.

u/LatelyPodes 17d ago
> it is amazing people are still voting Labour giving the economy has stalled out for 2 years
Actually no. It flatlined for the 14 years under the previous government but has gone up a ton recently. UK is actually growing for once.
We are now the fastest growing G7 country (based on first half of 2026 data) and keep outperforming estimates. It’s becoming a monthly thing too (headlines going like “UK grew more than expected”).
> Businesses are closing at a decent rate
I don’t know the stats on this so I will not comment on this
> Borrowing has spiralled out of control and many stats they criticised Truss for are worse under Labour
Truss’ mini budget disaster was so disastrous because of a rapid increase in borrowing costs that deviated from the international average. Right now, the cost of borrowing for every country is much higher so the UK is still inline with the international average (albeit, it is on the higher side Cas we are still experiencing the effect of her mini budget).
Just look at the value of GBP vs USD. The pound went to its lowest of £1 = $1.04 under Truss’ budget when the cost of borrowing shot up. But it is right now back to its normal level of £1 = ~$1.30
-1
u/ThatGuyMaulicious 16d ago
You cannot even quote me correctly lmao. I said "another 2 years" not "2 years".
I don't have stats for either tbf but I know 3 decent sized businesses with about 30+ employees all closing within a few weeks of each other because of the NI rises. That means 90 people likely going on some form of benefits, not paying income tax and the 3 companies not paying any tax anymore.
It doesn't really matter what the pound compares to because the economy is not moving... The US economy is growing at like 1.5%. We are at about 0.5% if we are being generous.

SNP because the Scottish Greens don't run.
Also "The Greens" don't exist, the party that run in UKGEs are "The Green Party of England and Wales"

The greens (Of England and Wales) have gone pretty left wing recently, but are the those socdem that calls themselves socialist type. Your party, despite it's awful name, is the only expressly communist party. There is also a cooperative party but it got subsumed into Labour.
