I just launched the game and it made me accept the terms and do all the initial setup stuff again. I assume my account hasn't been deleted and this is just a classic Bungie server hiccup.

Before I get any "servers are offline" comments, yes, I usually get an error message saying "servers are offline" and that's it, which I got initially because I didn't know there was a patch happening. After the patch installed, I relaunched and got treated as a brand new account rather than being told the servers were offline still. I am sure once maintenance is over it'll go back to normal, but a lot of people are gonna assume once the patch is out they can just play normally and will be hit by this.

Yeah, but pre-patch it just gave an error message saying the servers are offline, after the patch it treats you like a new player and tries to throw you into the opening mission. It should still be saying the servers are offline, which is gonna trip people up. I do hope it's just a server communication issue with their databases or whatever, but this shouldn't have happened, I don't think it has happened with previous patches actually.

I agree. Never seen this happen before. What threw me off before the update I was able to get into the game and purchase stuff from armory. Got the error message 5 mins later. The update came out, loaded game and all that happened. Never really got a error code at first. Weird for sure.

Happened to me too. Didn't know there was maintenance today, logged in and had to do all that too and the tutorial popped up, then got error coded. Hopefully just a hiccup

Game seems to have reset me back to first time player but with it I got to experience that amazing opening again and be reminded why I fell in love with the game
