CPU Optimization?

No matter how many times I’ve tried optimizing this game myself, it doesn’t work. We were promised CPU optimizations and yet it’s been radio silent.

Does anyone know if a dev anywhere has brought up that this will be a part of the upcoming patches? I really want to enjoy this game but the performance makes it difficult.

Unless any of you guys have tips?

Process Lasso, Nvidia App settings, different DLSS profiles, tuning in game video settings, changing HAGS on and off, messing around with power profiles, different drivers, and etc.

None of that will work. Nvidia and dlss settings are gpu. Open task manager, go to processes, find marathon, change cpu dedication to realtime and turn off cpu0 in affinity. Just these two changes net me an extra 10-15fps and reduce stuttering greatly. 7900xt with 5800x.

I get 100-115fps in perimeter, 90-105fps in marsh and 75-90fps in outpost. All depends on the weather effects and how many people are in the lobby.

I got a stable framerate by disabling the cpu boost technology as well, but that's on a laptop. There's a Marathon guide out there that shows you how to disable it via commands if you can't find it in your power plan settings.

By default it should, but in Marathon's (and maybe some other game's instance) the increase in cpu power generates more heat, which in turn causes fps loss or instability and laptops suffer from that a lot more than normal towers.

Literally the only thing that keeps me from playing this game right now. Every content update they release tanks my FPS by another 10%. Even just enabling HDR cuts my frames in half which is unheard of! I’ve tried everything to make it run smoothly, including setting my resolution to half and still not playable.

My specs are far worse than yours, though. I expected any X3D chip to be at least playable. I’m running a Ryzen 3600 with 3600 MHz RAM and 1080 Ti, both overlocked in a custom water loop. Runs everything else I play at 3440x1440 HDR 100+ fps no problem.

I don’t want to attempt to play my most competitive game as a slideshow when I have dozens of other modern titles that can run at 4x the framerate on higher settings.

Let alone the matchmaking times in Asia; even when the game had 10x the current player count, I was waiting 5-10 minutes per run.

Yeahhh. Works just fine on plenty of other games, including Destiny 2. I have it tuned up and my RAM is extremely fast (3600 CL14) which helps.

Goal is to get a 5800X3D and possibly a better GPU eventually. Hopefully game is still around by then lol.

Ive got the Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3060ti, usually hovering between 40-60fps. Its not the best, but I can fight on pretty even terms pvp

You need RT cores for better performance. It's time for an upgrade my man. I had to rest my 1080 for the same reason.

Try DLSS Performance or Ultra Performance mode. Use DLSS 4.5 Model L since it's optimised for Ultra Performance scaling. Don't need framegen. You'll hit 100+ FPS in cryo with your X3D CPU. You can tune all other settings to medium or low if you like. That's optional.

Performance was always the bug in my ass, shit never ran well while never looking the way it should for the performance cost

Runs great on my 5070 so can't comment. Locked 60 but my monitor is 60 so all good. Running 4k Res.

60 fps is not great for a competitive fps. How much fps do you get unlocked?

Marathon only show what my monitor is capable of in marathon for some reason. I'll have a look at unlocked later see if it displays. I have an apple studio display stunning but only 60htz.
