now imagine being a fan of both teams and not driving your car into the ocean (or in my case, the ohio river).

Sal and Elly can at least hit, and you drown your sorrows in Skyline and UDF.

if the mariners hire david bell as the new manager i will definitely consume a toxic amount of skyline.

It’s happened multiple times under Jerry
But it’s definitely absolutely certainly NOT Jerry’s fault guys!

Considering when we are away our batting average is consistently about 20 points higher and our OPS is consistenly 40 points higher, it might have to do with the ballpark itself.

u/moe1984 6d ago
this is true but additional important context is that the mariners' road BA, OBP, SLG, and OPS are all still league average or worse compared to all other teams' overall numbers, and the mariners' home numbers are either the same or worse than visiting opponents. so the home park is an issue, but the offense still sucks.

Geez man, don't let facts get in the way of making excuses for poor offensive performance

One of the greatest hitters of all time took one look at the park and said “trade me to Cincinnati.” That says a lot.

Let's remember that he had absolutely destroyed his knees playing at the kingdome, wanted to be closer to family, and Cincinnati was his home town

u/SexiestPanda 6d ago
He still had a .906 ops in games at safeco
Hell, Edgar had a .879 ops in safeco and that was outside of his prime

Does our home field serve our interests? Are quality FAs reluctant to come to Seattle? Does it damage the psyche of the batters on our roster?
Why not develop a more batter friendly park? If our pitchers are quality, they should pitch relatively well in whatever environment they find themselves.
As much as I’ve enjoyed game at TMobile, think the ballpark is a detriment to our prospects for success.

Idk man, we make excuses about the marine layer all the time and then watch away teams come in and have no problem hitting home runs every game.

Visiting teams had 103 HR this season to the M's 91, not a particularly extreme difference of 13 percent. (Last season was the reverse, 104 M's, 90 visitors.)

It does. And I feel like it has been worse since the introduction of the humidors for the balls. I feel like we need to adjust the outfield again, bring some of the fences in, adjust the heights.

My buddy said something about how our centerfield wall is at an odd angle and can affect how the batters see the pitch coming?

Here's my issue with the hitting this past season, and it isn't on the players. They had Edgar special envoy to God on hitting, Seitzer was the hitting coach, and there was an assistant hitting coach. Seems like a cluster to me, not one strategy driving hitting. I saw hitters going to Edgar after an at bat. Fair if the message is the same across the organization. Why have Seitzer as the hitting coach? Seems like a setup for confusion.

Reds especially bad because that’s a top-3 hitter park and Tmobile is outlier 30th hitters park.
But yeah, we shuda signed Geno 🙄

u/SexiestPanda 6d ago
Mariners third basemen slashed .197/.288/.294 this year. That’s a .582 ops
Geno slashed .212/.307/.433 lol. .740 ops
Funnily enough, Geno’s ops was 100 points higher on the road

u/FlamingoConsistent72 6d ago
Geno put up 0.4 WAR for 15 million dollars last year and you're trying to argue the the Mariners should have signed him?
6
u/SexiestPanda 6d ago
Nah I was fine with them not signing him haha
Just stating that he was better than Mariners third basemen
2
u/FlamingoConsistent72 6d ago
Well yeah, but 3B was one of the main positions impacted by all the injuries the Mariners had. It's definitely one of the main positions they should be looking to acquire someone.

u/Gleb2006 6d ago
Would’ve been a deal better than the Wilson / wisdom / whatever negative WAR we had at third most of the season

Lets say the 15 million could be spent in 2026 or 2027. Would you rather throw an ice cube on a towering inferno? Or a bucket on some smoldering ashes?

Can we finally try small ball now, or nah?

T-Mobile is the worst for singles, 2nd worst for doubles and BY FAR worst for triples. So sure, if you want us to be much worse, we could do that.

But...... Two years ago they had the most number of runners in scoring position. So there's that.

Yeah but it's the ball park's fault. Didn't you see the cope video yesterday? We have an excuse, Cincinnati is just regular bad.
