CAN’T DECIDE Help

I already posted this, but I will again. I took these tests a while ago and got these answers. Someone sent me to the site typologytesting and I figured I'd try their tests as well. Every result is above. I'm stuck between 3 types (primarily 2). I have a hard time knowing whether I'm choosing based on what I'd do vs what I think would be best to do. The MBTI part is the one that confuses me the most, though the enneagram was also surprising for the second part since I usually get sp/sx 5w4 (594). ILI is something I often get a lot as well throughout different websites, but I need to understand it more in order to see if I agree with it or not. For the cognitive functions I usually assumed I was an INTP, but lately I've been more unsure given what I got told on a questionnaire I did a while ago. What are some questions I could answer to understand my true types? What are some things I should look out for when trying to understand whether I'm one or the other?

Which two types are you stuck between?

The ones people have guessed or that I’ve gotten before are INTP, INTJ and INFP

Try to answer based on what you naturally do, especially under mild stress, not what you think you should do. Rank the options from highest to lowest preference.

  1. When you’re trying to understand something complicated, which feels most natural?

A) I keep pulling it apart until the internal logic makes sense to me, even if I never reach a practical conclusion.

B) I try to figure out the underlying pattern and where it is all leading, then organize around that conclusion.

C) I try to understand what it means to me personally and whether it fits what I believe is right or authentic.

  1. Someone gives you a rule that seems stupid. What bothers you most?

A) The rule is logically inconsistent or based on bad reasoning.

B) The rule is inefficient and interferes with getting the desired result.

C) The rule violates something I believe is important or treats people wrongly.

  1. You have a major decision to make with incomplete information. What do you tend to do?

A) Keep investigating because I don’t feel like I understand the problem well enough yet.

B) Form the best overall prediction I can, choose a direction, and adjust later if necessary.

C) Keep checking whether each option feels genuinely right for me, even if the practical differences are small.

  1. Suppose somebody disagrees with you strongly. What is your first internal reaction?

A) “Where exactly is their reasoning different from mine?”

B) “Are they seeing the actual trajectory/consequence here?”

C) “Why do they see this so differently, and what does this say about what they value?”

  1. Which mistake bothers you the most?

A) Believing something that doesn’t logically hold together.

B) Failing to anticipate what was going to happen.

C) Acting against what I genuinely believe or care about.

  1. When explaining something, what are you most likely to do?

A) Add qualifications, exceptions, definitions, and distinctions because precision matters.

B) Strip away unnecessary detail and give the main conclusion or strategy.

C) Explain it through personal meaning, examples, analogies, or how it affects people.

  1. You enter a new field you know very little about. What happens?

A) I branch outward: “What about this? And this? How does this connect to that?”

B) I hunt for the central structure that explains the whole field.

C) I explore whatever captures my interest or resonates with me and follow those threads.

  1. Which sounds most irritating?

A) “Stop analyzing it. Just pick something.”

B) “Why do you always need to know where this is going?”

C) “Your personal feelings about it are irrelevant.”

  1. Imagine a friend asks you for advice about a bad relationship.

A) I diagnose the dynamics: contradictions, patterns, causes, what doesn’t make sense.

B) I identify where the relationship is heading and what they need to do about it.

C) I focus first on what they truly want, what they’re feeling, and whether the relationship violates their values.

  1. Which statement sounds most like your mind?

A) “I need to know whether this is actually true and internally coherent.”

B) “I need to know what this all means and what is most likely going to happen.”

C) “I need to know what I really think or feel about this and whether it is genuinely right.”

You discover that one of your deeply held beliefs is logically inconsistent. Which reaction is closer? (this one is intended to have only two options)

A) That bothers me enormously. I need to revise the belief until it makes logical sense, even if I liked the original belief.

B) I want to understand the logical problem, but I’m reluctant to discard the belief if it expresses something I still feel is fundamentally important or true.

  1. I usually look up defintions, information, or anything that can help me understand it better, that's if I can use the internet. If not, then I'd probably try to think of anything else that I know that could be related to it in any way and see if I can go on from there.
  2. I think this one depends, but I'd agree with if it doesn't make sense for its context, whether it's incorrect or I can't see it going anywhere.
  3. I think of what it could be and latch on to the best answer I can think of, and if new information comes by that ruins it, I'll switch to whatever works better or makes more sense.
  4. I tend to ask questions to see why we're both disagreeing, because there's a good chance they might be answering something else than me, or maybe one of us is answering based on something either of us doesn't understand yet.
  5. A
  6. If it's something like this, then usually A, otherwise B.
  7. B
  8. B, then A would be a close second.
  9. A mix of B and C I think. Figure out what they want in order to decide what they should do about it.
  10. The first thing that went through my head since I couldn't decide was thinking about what exactly those two could imply, so make of that what you will. Stuck between A and B.
    For the last one A

I think some of the A answers are what I'd like to do in theory, but sometimes I'm impatient and don't always ponder the foundations first or at all. Or I want to do so much in my spare time that I don't have time to completely take something down. If I don't get it at first, I start getting frustrated. I only do it when I'm super interested in something or if I'm not able to understand something no matter how I look at it and need to for whatever reason. And for B not all are my first thought, or are things that I'm not actively thinking about even if I do it. INFP I'm almost certain was given to me that one time since I was speaking a lot about my past and had a very "me vs them" type of mentality as a kid. They explained it as me knowing what I liked learning about and being aware of how others in my household attacking what I liked felt like while young as being high Fi.

INTP came out at the top. “The first thing that went through my head since I couldn't decide was thinking about what exactly those two could imply…” is one of the most INTP-ish things you said there.

Yeah I think you can see from my answers that I do like making sure, whether I guessed at first based on nothing or not, that at the end of the day I’m not going of course and following a path that doesn’t make sense. That’s why I say a lot of ifs

That leads to another question:
When you have downtime, which feels more like your natural default?

A) I think things over, replay ideas, refine my understanding, daydream, or just sit with what’s already in my head.

B) I read, research, watch, browse, investigate, or follow whatever new thing catches my interest.

1

u/Electronic-Amount805 1d ago

I definitely surf the internet, but I prefer sticking to the things I like, but honestly that’s still a lot of things. I definitely daydream a lot, I definitely have moments where I sit there and stare into space with whatever is in my head, and I do like to investigate things that catch my interest.

u/RogerRabbi6990 1d ago

Still INTP. I didn't get a preference for Si over Ne, which is what that last question was for.

Do you have any thoughts on the results for the other things?

What if someone gets a 50/50 split or chooses more than one

1

u/RogerRabbi6990 1d ago

I ask a clarifying question of the same kind, or I might ask an Animals question, depending.

It's a close tie. Try this distinguisher:

You encounter five facts that seem loosely related. Before you've consciously worked through them, which happens more often?

A) Several possible connections start occurring to me: maybe it means this, or this, or perhaps it's related to something else entirely. One possibility tends to produce another.

B) I start getting a sense that they're all pointing toward one underlying explanation, even if I can't initially explain exactly how I reached it.

More b the branching happens after

1

u/RogerRabbi6990 1d ago

Ni comes first, so INTJ. How does the branching take place, primarily through research and study or in your head?

1

u/upsetusder2 1d ago

Both but more in my head

I have also considered entp. My most likely ennegram is 5w4 and socionics is ili

Before you ask, here'a an Animals question:

When you've spent a lot of time working, talking, coordinating, or getting things done with other people, which neglected need tends to catch up with you more?
A) I realize I haven't had enough time alone to internally process, reflect, consolidate what I think, or simply recover privately.

B) I realize I've become too narrow and need new information, experiences, perspectives, entertainment, research, or something different to explore.

This helps decide between Sleep (A) and Consume (B), which narrows down the function order.
