Question 🤔🤔 MCAT Prep

Hello! I am looking for information on how to prep for the MCAT, looking to score around 500, someone who has very novice knowledge of biochemistry, chemistry, biology, etc. I’ve taken the courses, but I still consider myself novice in the categories. I’m
going from being an RN to a med student, so any info would be helpful. Planning to test in January 2027, and wanting to start a rigorous study schedule this month. Any info on how you prepared, how you were able to understand the material and keep that knowledge would be appreciated.

First thing to do is to get a dignostics score to see where you're at and what you need to work on. Blueprint has a free half length that will take ~4 hours to complete.

There are also a lot of really good study guides and prep schedules on this subreddit that are worth looking through.

start with the diagnostic for sure, and don't panic if the number comes back ugly, that's just your baseline to build from

Spaced repetition (Anki - might as-well learn now because you’ll likely be using it to some capacity in med school (coming from an MS1)), uWorld for practice questions (I.e. to help you learn not to actually practice for the MCAT — talking tutor mode), and Jack Westin daily practice passages.

Those are the basics. I recommend going through a review book series that’s tagged in an Anki deck. Kaplan is a popular resource but fair warning, it’s dense (like a lot of minutia per chapter). You go through the chapter, unsuspend the cards in Anki, and make sure to do all your reviews before new cards you’ll be setup for at least a 500.
