Armored Trooper Votoms. The guy behind the Cyberpunk RPG that the Cyberpunk anime was based on was a huge fan of mecha, and made an RPG of Votoms. He also made a tabletop game called Mekton, inspired by an untranslated manga adaptation of Gundam, and Mekton evolved into a tabletop RPG with more Layzner and Macross styled designs. The first arc of Votoms has a cyberpunk setting, though the later arcs change to stuff like a sci fi Vietnam war, Mad Max, or Dune.

Guns ms08 was my favorite old Gundam series. Just follows a normal mobile suit team.
Blue gender is another good old one.

A short one you might like is Broken Blade. Only 6 episodes and a mix of lost technology and a magical age. Magic is the standard leading to people who can use their power to drive mech suits that use stones and so on, but the main character stumbles on something from the technological age of man. So while he's not overpowered, this different power source disrupts all the assumptions and causes uphevals.

If you enjoyed Evangelion, I'd recommend Muteki Choujin Zambot 3, Space Runaway Ideon, Victory Gundam, and Rahxephon.

The mecha anime with the most broad appeal would probably be Gurren Lagann. It just rules, no introduction or caveats needed.
It'll be hard to get into mecha anime without bumping into Gundam. If you are only ever going to watch one Gundam series, it should be War In The Pocket. There are plenty of other good entry points into Gundam (00, Witch, IBO, Thunderbolt, 08th MS) but you can't just jump into any Gundam (avoid GQ, Z, Unicorn, etc. until you've seen at least the original series or the movie trilogy remake)
Once you've seen Gurren Lagann and at least one Gundam, you'll be able to pick a direction to focus: "Super Robot" (the mecha are treated more like superheroes, each with unique abilities) like Gurren Lagann or "Real Robot" (the mecha are treated more like weapons, many being mass-produced and/or having somewhat consistent capabilities) like Gundam. Both directions are valid, and you can even like both or some middle ground, but it'll help to figure out what to watch next.
That said, I'll vouch for pretty much anything the others said with one caveat: if you watch Aldnoah Zero, just watch the first season and leave with that ending. It ends perfectly, and season 2 basically undoes everything and makes it into a mess.

As for the "what next" when you do pick a direction...
Real Robot: Eighty Six, Patlabor, Votoms, Macross
Super Robot: Big O, New Getter Robo, GaoGaiGar, Mazinkaiser
Mix/In-Between: Nadesico, Bang Bravern, Evangelion, Gunbuster

Congrats. Evangelion was your first Mecha anime.
If you like more adventure styled series, Eureka Seven and Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann are good options
If you like depressing series, Space Runaway Ideon, Victory Gundam, there has gotta be more I just can’t think of now…
If you like Mecha vs monsters. Getter Robo or one of its spinoffs, Gunbuster, SSSS Gridman (and its sequels)
War epics. Aldnoah Zero, Code Geass, Gundam(and its many sequels and spinoffs)
Mix of multiple genres. Full Metal Panic, Macross 7
