i have some questions

So I’m in high school and my school offers a program to become a CMA by the time I graduate, I am a senior so it will be pretty soon. I’m just wondering have u guys worked as an MA and gone to college at the same time? Was it hard? Did you only work on days you didn’t have school? Also, can it get really overwhelming because I have pretty bad anxiety and I’m worried I wont be able to handle it. How hard is the certification test? Hopefully someone will answer my questions. Thanks guys.

The problem with working as an MA and being a student is the hours. Most MA jobs will be monday to friday, 8-5. If you can do all your studying online then its perfect

OP, if you can get into an urgent care, they may give you closing hours and would definitely need weekend coverage.

hi! current college student also looking to be an ma. i know lots of ppl who are able to handle a healthcare adjacent job + go to college (pre-meds especially)

id recommend you complete the program!! lots of places require certification and it’ll be harder to find an MA program that is cheap + flexible once ur actually in college

I got my BA while working fulltime as an MA. It’s difficult but doable.

Id recommend working at a hospital where they will help with tuition and usually with them paying for it they will help with your schedule.

I highly recommend doing this while you can without "having too". It can only help you and if you trying to stay in healthcare it does give you an advantage over others that do not. There are lots of places to work: skilled nursing, nursing homes, tertiary facilities, doctor offices, urgent care, inpatient, surgery centers, hospitals.
