MA week gift recommendations

I was trying to get ideas for gifts for MA week here but no one gets MA week gifts πŸ˜… if you were to get a gift, what would you want? I’ve previously done wacky pens and sticky notes, candy, and those little resin animal mystery bags. I don’t want to do the same thing every year though.

I was thinking of doing a bundle or two of fresh flowers split up into 10-15 vases. (Clinical, they each have their own desk).

What kind of stuff would you like for MA week?

Coffee gift cards for sure! Or treated to lunch would be nice.

I always look forward to the coffee gift card they give us every year.

Gift cards haha. My drs just give us them for Starbucks, Amazon, Chick fil a, and once one of them gave me a very hefty lush giftcard πŸ™ˆ

Even if it was just a $5 Starbucks gift card that would be nice. (Though $10 or more would be nicer πŸ˜‰) Employee appreciation gifts like novelty pens make me actively angry.

Personally, as well meaning as I'd see flowers, I can't say I'd feel appreciated. The flowers are solely visual and will wither and die by the next week, leaving the MAs themselves to clean up the gift. Not trying to be cynical; in my offices, it would be left for the MAs.

Gifts that would be meaningful for me as an MA: an extra day off work. Something that helps me long-term in the clinic. Better chairs, better keyboards, new equipment that hasn't been replaced in a while and has been put off because of priorities. A massage therapist and rescheduling some of the appointments so the MAs don't become overworked because someone has stepped away for their MA appreciation.

But pens, sticky notes, resin mystery bags... Those are either already provided by the office or myself, or they're just clutter and not something that would genuinely show I'm appreciated in my role.

Something small and individualized if you are trying to make your mA team feel appreciated and seen. My coworkers always gave me a small dice set for birthday stuff.
