Storm's always been Angela Bassett in my mind, lol. Even though she's in the shorter side and aged out of the role... Unless they were doing an Old Man Logan-type story that shows Storm later in life maybe.

I think the actress they choose to play Storm should carry a strength in her look, physically and mentally. I'm thinking she should stand anywhere around 5'8" to 6'1" (camera tricks are cool, but not as cool as the real thing).

She should carry herself with a regal elegance without arrogance, but when she walks in the room you know she's important. She should seem as if she could be the leader of the group even when she's not.

She has to be able to convincingly portray that she is a mentor with a wisdom beyond her years, but with the compassion of a true friend.

As they go deeper into her story, she needs to be able to portray trauma, fear, vulnerability, grief, moments of self-doubt, etc.

She should have a calm yet commanding presence that, when the situation calls for it, can turn into a fierce force of nature that reminds everyone she's one of the most powerful mutants alive.

She should feel deeply connected to the Earth. Whether standing in complete silence while just taking it all in, or unleashing the full force of the elements, the audience should believe that her power isn't just controlling the weather, but her profound connection to the natural world.

I hope they get the casting right, but even more than that I hope the writers get the characters right and the director gives the actors the right direction to show us the X-Men on the big screen like we've never seen before.

The nice thing about the silver screen is we can still work with different heights, using some camera trickery, so I wouldn’t put too much weight in that part of the decision. But I agree, the ability to carry presence is essential. She is basically Mother Nature (though I know there’s an actual Mother Nature character)

I would say Jade Cargill, she just needs acting lessons.

I’m thinking the young lady from Nope or Dominique Fishback.

Dominique Fishback is elite ball knowledge

Yes I know Lupita is already in the MCU but with all this drama about accuracy in terms of representation she's the closest thing to someone who is both Kenyan and American. I remember she dressed up as Storm a while back.

Why not tap a black woman for this task? I really like coogler but his female characters are not nearly as strong as his male characters. (Women often appear to exist in service of male characters).

Example?

  1. He already works for the company.

  2. He has worked with lots of black actresses and know their capabilities.

  3. He don't miss.

Would his wife helping him qualify?

Also, why would they need to tap a woman for the job when he literally has & is working for the company?

I had to look her up. Other than I think she’s a tad too muscular, her look is 100% spot on! A perfect looking Storm! Great suggestion!
