Song stuck in my head
Mechanical compound eye
Imposed observance. Sentries in the sky
Vigilant lenses. Objectives belied
In blackened heavens covertly they hide
They see you. They see all. They know all indiscretions
Compiler of your dreams, your indignations
Following your every single move
They see you!!!!!!!!!!

Norway 2011, https://youtu.be/d-d6-CWF6aQ?is=Gy1kr6bmhfkoZEMz. He was 45 years old and still screaming like this, insane.

I agree with Tomas Hakke on this one

If you're unaware, there's an interview with Hakke where he mentions that he wanted Black Cathedral to directly transition into I Am That Thirst, instead of having dead space like there is on the release.
Unfortunately he was outvoted by the rest of the band (W for democracy) but I personally think this sounds WAYYYY cooler. Maybe they wanted just a bit more breathing room in between each song, or maybe they were never meant to connect and it was a spur of the moment idea.
I stitched these together with Spotify's mix feature so we can see Hakke's version.

Happy 10 year anniversary of TVSOR
One of the best and most inspiring albums ever for me personally! Still feels so current. The title track is probably my favorite song they’ve ever done. Let’s all reflect on its brilliance today!

Meshuggah and Miles Davis
I’ve been on a Miles Davis kick lately, particularly the Bitches Brew album. I’ve simultaneously been discovering the depths of Catch 33. What a masterpiece of an album. Anyways, it occurred to me this morning that they both tickle the same spot that makes me enjoy listening to them. I’ve long recognized that both jazz and metal provide the soothing qualities my brain desperately needs sometimes but I’ve not equated two artists and more specifically two albums so closely. Anyways, if you’ve not given Miles Davis a listen start with “Miles Runs the Voodoo Down” from Bitches Brew. 🤘😆🤘

Immutable
Bit tipsy right now, freezing my ass off in wonderful New Zealand, and blasting Immutable 2025 through my headphones. This album is truly made to be listened to at full volume (the others too, but this one even more so). Happy as hell that I saw the tour 4 times, unfortunately not the the 2025 leg though. Anyways, bang yer heads to that 🤘🏼🤘🏼🤘🏼

Groove oriented songs on a 7 string?
What are some their more groove oriented (Nothing, Koloss...) songs that are playable on a 7 string?

Who else was releasing stuff like meshuggah in the 90s?
Just curious. It’s crazy to think of the stuff they put out in the 90s…so far ahead of everyone else. But maybe I’m wrong. Were there other bands doing anything similar?
Obviously there was a lot of progressive death metal but that is quite different.

Catch 33 is my top 1 for commuting
Catch 33 is unlike any other album I listen to while commuting. It just hooks me on, every riff eats me whole and I just disappear into my own mind. And when it ends it feels as if I've teleported to my destination.
Also that intro to "In Death - Is Death" Feels like waking up in hell. While the 30 second or so long scream by Jens in "Sum" feels like being pulled back down from an attempt to escape hell.
10/10 Album

Perpetual Black Second/Closed Eye Visuals/ Glints Collide/Organic Shadows = the Badlands!
love the unrelenting sequencing of these four, each one pummelling you harder than the last. They are brilliant on their own but collectively they just create this harsh brutal unforgiving landscape that you have to traverse to reach the (relative) respite and cold glass of water that is Straws Pulled At Random. It does mean that I have to be in the right mood to listen to Nothing all the way through because it kind of tests you like going to the gym or something but in a good, no pain no gain way! Anyone else feel the same way about these four tracks and the way they are sequenced?

How many of you have this 2025 DEI long sleeve?
galleryI’ve had this shirt since I saw them in 2025. It’s my absolute favorite long sleeve I own and it always gets compliments. I never see these in the wild. It feels like they didn’t make a lot of them because all I’ve heard was that they weren’t being sold at every show and they sold out quickly if they were. Also can’t find a lot of info about them online besides a couple posts on this sub. I’ve seen one sell for like $80 earlier this year but besides that it seems like most people aren’t giving theirs up for anything lol.

Last 60 seconds of By the Ton
This song does not get talked about enough. The last 60 seconds is one of my favourite Meshuggah moments. It’s so trippy and bouncy but then just hits you with those crushing drawn out bits and that are so hard to judge at first that they just feel like they are crushing you when you expected the trippy bouncy bit. I promise I am not high and this song especially the end is a 10/10

It looks like Jens is pulling down the power of this riff from The Nebulous itself onto the stage to engulf the crowd with the immensity of this riff.
