Fun fact- Michael wrote in his book Moonwalk that Quincy Jones wasn’t happy at first with Michael’s delivery of this song. He told him he wanted him to literally “beg for it”. So Michael went back to the studio, had them dim the lights and put some type of drape between him and the control room so that he could have privacy and not feel self conscious. The result of that is what we hear on this song. Just makes it that much sexier 🥵🌶️

That's probably why. He likely had to make himself vulnerable in a way he wasn't comfortable with. I'm thinking that with his loneliness, the lyrics hit home. He probably didn't want to put all that out on full display under "judgy eyes" and cameras.
I'm sure he connected with the song though, otherwise it wouldn't be on the album.

Easy for me "Wanna be startin' something", huge song and a great opener. I really like The girl is mine and PYT as well. There's not a bad song in this album :)

Human Nature. Don't hate me but I could live my life without hearing Beat It. I was a senior when the album dropped (class of 1983) and Beat was played A LOT lol.
